Andy's Garage 996 Tiptronic gearboxing

Oil and filter change needed.
Many, many opinions on the 'correct' oil. The manual helpfully states "ATF" and after a few phone calls we eventually arrived at Dexron II for this ZF box in a 1999 car.
You may confidently know different..

Thank you for this vLog, I have (c2) both 996.1 & .2 (I am also extending its lives as well). Does the 996.1 Tiptronic ZF have a final drive gear oil (75w-90)? or is the final drive part of the ZF Tiptronic system (it uses the ATF)? My 996.2 Mercedes Tiptronic has a final drive drain and fill plug.

Yes on the left side final drive (don't use ATF) there's a fill hole hex 50 you need to syphon the 75w-90 out and refill approx. 1 L

How did you filled up the gearbox with new oil?

I used a cheap 12v pump and some clear tubing. It is messy.

Hi Mate I am about to do this job however fond the ATF cooler lines to be leaking also , do you know if I can replace the lines with the transmission in place? Thanks in advance…
