- In this video it's all about Wella. We show you the results and mixing ratio from using WELLA COLOR TOUCH -SHADES 8/81 + 9/16. A semi permanent colour for blending, shading and toning blonde or grey/white hair.
Discover the preparation, formula mixture and application. We aim to give you an idea of what toning colour options you may want to use when applying to pre lightened hair with natural greying. You may have never used this mixture before but we can ensure you its a safe bet.

I wish I was naturally fair and blonde. So pretty! I'm about to riskily dye my whole head of own hair for the first time using a dark brown shade of Color Touch. I thought it would be cheaper than going to the salon but it's certainly more expensive than the drugstore brands and the lady didn't offer me a . I had to buy different brands of developer and had to get two of each product for my thick, frizzy, mid length hair! I really hppe this goes well ! Thanks for an easy to follow tutorial x

Beautiful color and hair. I have natural blonde hair too also with a little grey and it is getting darker. I have made some highlights by myself and it is a little yellow and uneven. Before I had middle blond gold from wella color touch. I did not liked the gold that much on my greys, now it is washed out and I ordered wella color touch sunlights hope that work out. Did you hear about that product? It should lighten up I thought that the color touch could never lighten up but correct the color?
I’m not familiar with sunlights. I’ve never used it. Let me know how it turns out we can all learn from each other. Keep developer low if you want to counteract gold.
Going to purchase these products and hopefully the colour will work on my hair and blonde hair

hi I was hoping you could help me out since I’m pretty confused. I’m planing on using the colour touch vibrant red in the shade 6/4 I have bleached blonde hair do you recommend I use the 1.9% or 4% and how many tubes of the colour should I order my hair sits at the end of my breast and I have layered cut.
It’s hard to give advice without seeing your hair in front of me with you sitting in my chair. That’s a very dramatic change going from blonde to red. I would want to pre pig the hair before. This will enable your colour touch vibrant red to last longer and to have a more even look. I would have a full consultation with an experienced colour technician who can touch and feel the hair condition and assess the porosity of your bleached hair. Together you both will come up with the right formula for a colour service.
Please help I absloutely love this colour it’s exactly how I would like mine! My roots naturally are a mousy brown 8 and my ends are around 9/10 and I’m also trying to grow my roots out do you think
These 2 toners would give me the same affect ?
I’m scared to use the 8/81 as on the colour chart online it’s a very white grey colour xx
If you use this formula in the colour touch range you are going to get lift at the roots so probably wouldn’t suit if you are trying to brown your natural hair out. Have a look at shinefinity range as it’s doesn’t lift your natural colour it just tones. Let me know what you think of the shades. Perfect for ballade or growing old colour out as it doesn’t shift the natural base colour. Hope that helps
This looks lovely. Is there a particular reason you used both 8/81 and 9/16 together? I’m about to tone and unsure what one to get. Does mixing them together change the shade much?
Hi there I use both mixed together as either on there own catch on my grey hair a little to much. 8/81 on its own is a bit ash and 9/16 on its own a bit violet. Together they seem to be a really good mixture of a creamy blonde tone to blend grown out hi lights to my grey/white hair. Also I’m not that dark naturally and find shades that are darker just stick to my hair especially around the front on those pesky white ones. Thank you for watching. When color touch info states that it covers 50% gray, is that based on the 4% developer? Or would you say you get 50% coverage with just the 1.9%? Thanks
Up to 50% coverage with 4% developer. 1.9% just for toning and blending ends to the roots. In This video it was done on wet hair as I didn’t want any lift at the root. Just wanted to blend in mid lengths and ends to natural hair. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
Hi, I have real hair hair extensions they have bleached a bit from the sun so would like to darken them a bit, is the colour touch products safe to use on hair extensions or am I better to use a dark toner shampoo
I’m so sorry I’ve never coloured hair extensions before so unable to advise if this is the correct option to colour. If you have one that has fallen out or spare extension you could always do a test. Thank you for watching 💜
I have old highlights in my lengths and a little more warmth in my roots since bleaching them. Naturally I am a dark blonde, which I eventually want to get a little closer to. Will this combination correct the warmth in my roots? They're not terribly warm, just enough to bother me a little. If this combo won't fix it, do you have another recommendation for me? I wouldn’t use this combo or product as it will shift your roots depending on level. I’m an 8 so therefore it blends to my hair. I would opt for shinefininty as it’s a no lift glaze. Match your colour to as close to your natural colour at the root.
I didnt know u can do on wer hair.. always thought had to be dry🤔

Hi beautiful colour! I use Koleston perfect 9/1 and 8/0 equal parts nearly always on roots only . However my hair has recently been lightened by the sun.Would I use the colour touch in 9/1 and 8/0 after doing my roots with the koleston perfect 9/1 and 8/0 to tone and blend the sun bleached lengths or could I use the colours that you used to tone it ? My natural hair colour in about a 7 with more than 50% gray on top not so much gray on the underneath.
Good evening - when you do your roots you could with the usual mixture you can always tone those sun bleached ends with the same colour mixture bit with a different developer. Welloxon perfect pastel 1.9%. Saves you buying colour touch. But if you fancy a change yes go for the above mixture. It will not cover your roots but will definitely tone down those mid lengths & ends. Thank you for watching

@@janetdinsdale3847 yes you could apply while your roots are taking. Spray a little water on mid lengths and ends and drag the roots down and melt into you pastel toner mixture.

Thanks for the video cause it's extremely useful. I have a question btw: is it possible to use the two different shades separately and blending them instead of mixing them together? I'm a natural 7 ash but I have some very light babylights all over the head (something like 9 and 10). Since this is the result of a color correction, I now would like to uniform and go a little bit darker near the roots (to match my natural base more) and reach a blended result. What if I go with 8/81 on the roots and 9/16 on the lengths, blending them during the process? It shouldn't affect my natural roots if I use a 5vol developer, right? Thank you
Yes you can use shades independently. And your choice sounds perfect. I would do it on freshly washed hair to ensure no lift on roots and if that works next time do it on dry. Hope that helps thanks for watching
just a quick add for anyone reading and being in similar situations: be careful about using toners on natural virgin hair, especially around the very first mm of the root, as you can slightly bump the root and depending on the processing time and toner used, you can bring out some brassy orangey tones right around the scalp area.. i wouldn't necessarily recommend using 8 and 9 level toners on virgin root unless bumping it a tone lighter is what you want to achieve

@@harrydenis5879 would semipermanent (no developer) be a safer option? Not to risk lifting natural roots but still being able to downtone/neutralalize length.

@@naomimara3340 im not sure i understand exactly what you are asking.. but we often use the term toner and semipermanent colors as synonyms.. and usually you need some sort of activator( a developer, an emulsion, it comes under different names.. they are usually low percent oxiders, like 1,9% or 4%).. most of the toners/semipermanent colors we have acces to will break your natural base. that being said, if you have colored or pre-lightened hair on the lenghts but your roots are natural and you wish to tone just the colored hair, my advice would be to mix your semipermanent color as instructed, usually 1 part color to 1 or 2 part developer AND add 1 part conditioner to the mix. you should be able to apply this safely to the natural hair without lifting it. let me know if this didnt answer your q, take care!

Nicely done, may I ask why you chose the 1.9% instead of 4%, I'm confused on which one to use, new to this Color Touch, thank you..
I only wanted to blend and tone so 1.9% on wet hair gives me a no commitment seamless look.
4% would be my choice if I wanted to cover the grey/white hair more as I am a base 8 naturally I would have got a slight lift on my roots with 4%.

I have blonde/gold hair and i want to go red gingerish/strawberry blonde, doesnt really matter just not bright orange. I am so confused on how to do it. The result of 8/41 on the box is the color that i want but does it actually color since your hair is still blonde (beautiful hair btw)
I would suggest a strand test to see the possible outcome. If you do decide to proceed then saturation and developer choice is key
Do you wash with shampoo afterwards or just rinse with water and add conditioner and rinse again?

I am a level 10 bleached.
I do not wish to bleach my hair anymore.
I would like to achieve a yellow blonde shade right now on my bleached hair.
So I have a few questions if I may?
I want to know if I could deposit a level 9/1 and 9/03 Koleston perfect onto level 10 bleached hair? Is this a good combo for a nice colour? Will it adhere because it is darker, or would I need a filler? Will it be too harsh bcz it is a permanent and not a demi? It is my understanding that permanent hair colour is not to be used on bleached hair.
You can use koleston perfect on bleached hair but I would only use pastel toner developer with it. Never a stronger developer than this.Maybe look at colour touch or shine finerty as an alternative. You could wait till your roots are through and have hi lights to break up root growth( yellow blonde) and then apply a fill in colour to blend old and new colour. Without you in my chair with your hair in my hands I cannot recommend shade. You could always do a strand test to see outcome of the colour you mentioned above .

Depends on your base. If it’s the same as mine a level 8 the colour you have chosen is two shades lighter. But if you are a level 9-10. Naturally then your choice will be good. Hope that helps

is wella color fresh 8 81 a toner or a dye? I'm tyring to touch up my roots and the rest of my hair is platinum- do i need developer?
Color Fresh is a different product than the one shown in this video. This video shows Wella color touch. A semi or demi depending on the developer you choose. So this product will not cover or lift roots. Have a consultation with your stylist on what colour to choose going forward to touch up your roots.

No it’s only to blend grey or white hair. You will not get 100% coverage with this formula using developer 1.9%. You will get more coverage using 4% developer that is only to be used with Color touch colours. Guess is about 50%- 60% coverage depending on starting point. Hope that helps.Thanks for watching

Hi there! I have platinum blonde highlights and a deep base ( lvl 7 or 6) do you think i could tone the hair with 10/81 +10/6 and dev vol 6 ( lowest) without lifting the base?
The formula you suggest would slightly shift the base even on wet hair with the lowest colour touch developer 1.9%. It has in this video although very hard to see.
I would opt for shinefinity which has zero lift. Would love to hear the results after. Thanks for watching

Hey my hair dresser uses colour touch on my virgin hair in the shade 6/7 with 1.9% (my virgin hair is naturally dark). How easy is this to remove from virgin hair if I wanted to go blonde?
You would need to start having some hi lights with bleach to lighten both the previous colour and your dark roots. Big commitment being blonde when your dark so probably best to have a full consultation with your hairdresser before you take the plunge. My hair is 50%white with a few hi lights in so really low maintenance with the shades shown in the video. Thanks for watching ❤️
Color touch is not a permanent hair color. It’s a Demi permanent which is designed to wash out gradually. It would be easy to remove this from your hair.

@@hairupideaswell at 1.9%, there’s a good chance that most of the color has washed out when the client comes in for color. Just to be sure, you can use a hair color extractor. It shrinks hair color molecules so that they wash out of the hair. Then you have a clean pallet to work with.
I use color touch 4.71 with 4%. My problem is every time I part my hair while they are wet, they get tangled because I have fine hair. Any tips on how to avoid that?

Yes you can apply to freshly washed hair. you can then apply colour on top. You can also dry it in if you apply your colour on dry hair. Have put a link to product above

I am planning on using 9/01 and 8/81, equal parts with 1.9% developer to blend greys. I am prob 65% grey at the front and more darker at the back, level 6.
This won’t blend a level 6 as your base is to dark. This client was a level 8 so therefore the colour touch I chose was as close to nautral as possible. You will get a shift in base at your darker back section if you use this formula .
Hi, I did this today and it covered really well, with no warmth that I can see. I changed the above slightly. I used colour touch 9/86 20g, 8/81 20g and 9/01 50g to 40g 6 vol developer and 140g 13 vol developer (slightly more colour than developer, ratio normally 1:2). Applied to dry hair with plastic cap over for 30 mins. As I say I have a large amount of grey now and was full head bleaching previously. So I applied to the roots only and it has blended really well with the previously bleached hair. The white bits are really quite light while my remaining natural is a darker looking blonde, but this looks quite natural. So glad you posted this video as I have been looking for an alternative to bleach (because of breakage) for a while and I knew as I had alot of grey if I could cover/ blend it with blonde it would be alot less harsh on my hair. My thinking was that bleach strips the pigment from hair and the white hair in the grey has also lost its pigment, so a toner should work the same for both scenarios (it is just having some natural still that complicates things slightly). BTW my natural might have been more of a 7 than a level 6, hard to know as I am so grey now and have been bleaching it for so many years! Thank you again 😊
@@cf2753 great news 🏆 sounds like you have found a great combination of colour. I will definitely note that formula down and possibly try it on my own hair. I am similar to you I’ve been having bleach hilights for years and now have 50% white hair predominately at the front. I’m a base 8. I probably colour touch every 3 times and then do a set of really fine highlights and tone on 4th session. Love that we can all learn from each other 💯🌟
Yes defo!! that is my plan touch up the roots then add some slices of blonde to the hair every so often to brighten things up (mainly around the face). I will see how using the demi fades, if it fades too quickly I may decide to go permanent and use Wella Koleston in a level 9. I feel there are lots of people out there with salt and pepper hair and don't want to go darker but use their salt as natural highlights but there doesn't seem much content on UA-cam out there (except yours which is amazing). Grey blending seems to be a big thing at the moment on Instagram (from what I have seen mainly using bleach for babylights) but some hairdressers are over complicating it and charging lots in the process. For me if I can cover/blend grey with colour rather than bleach, this is so much more preferred. As you say by sharing different formulas is a great way of finding something that works. BTW just a thought, I am not sure if you have considered this but I think if you put "grey blending" or for your other permanent colour videos "grey coverage" in the title, I am sure this would help more people find your great content easier. IIt would fab if something as seen as abit of an annoyance to some (salt and pepper hair) could be the foundation for creating amazing hair 😊

If I use 8/0 and 8/81 will it give more coverage to my grays?
This is not a permanent colour it does not give full coverage as it’s a demi colour. Without seeing your grey/white hair and having your hair in my hands to understand the texture I couldn’t say what percentage of coverage you would get. I used this to blend old hi lights and white hair on very light base. My natural base is a 8/0. Hope that helps.
Are Color Touch numbers and Kolestone numbers the same ??

In my opinion you cannot compare the colours as the same as such different results and two very different products.
Colour touch is Demi permanent I believe.
Depends on which developer you use. That’s how I use it but we all have different ways of approaching colour
