    I think the power staying on when the cable is removed is a feature for losing power and not ceasing and losing the recording. I definitely would rather turn the mic off manually, it's a professional feature to me and not a glitch. Thanks for the review.

    You get my abs video award ( Alfa Bravo super ) video. You check all the boxes great presentation on the mic. I believe it should have an app on the phone for internal control for the mic with Bluetooth of course. Great video again keep up the good work.

      You're welcome. I'm releasing a 6 month update tomorrow for the Tula mic. I got some great feedback from David Brown, the founder of Tula. Thanks for the comment!

    Great review, I do love this mic. FYI, you don't need to do the cable dance if you use an iPad Pro (USB-C instead of lightning) and you can use any USB-C->USB-C cable to connect and use the mic :)

    It's the Apple & Apple Adapter that are trouble, not the Mic. But thanks for all the info on the iPhone's Apps flaws, it makes us Andriod / PC users feel happy! The Mic staying ON after disconnect is a feature, not a glitch. You can immediately press the record button and continue recording. The power button lights up, so you know the Mic is on when the light is on. That's how you can use it plugged in to some other device, or unplug and walk around recording mobile...

    Can it record line level inputs too?

    • @creatorsvillage
      @creatorsvillage  2 роки тому

      I don't think so, if you did, you would have to reduce the gain settings, and try to have your source volume be as quiet as possible. I really think this input is designed for a lav mic only.

    Hi,
    I use the Tula with an M1 iPad Pro 12.9. I run 3 apps at the same time in Stage Manager: Mail, Garage Band and WEtransfer.
    When I finish and save a recording, my monitoring stops. I can no longer hear anything through the headphones (Tula jack). I was hoping for direct monitoring in USB mode, but I'm afraid that's not possible...Can anyone help?
    Thanks and Greetings
    Big fan

      It's an Apple brand media adapator. Sometimes its called a camera adaptor. It has a little camera icon on it. Easy to find on Amazon, at Best buy or the apple store. Thanks!

    Very thorough comparison. I watched it with my Dad who I just gave it to for Christmas after I played around with it for my own review (which I never got around to completing). Too bad you had a damaged unit to start. Make sure when comparing two mics you are level matching to RMS their outputs in post. Also, found it strange that the recording of your voice with the broken Tula sitting on your desk sounded far better than the replacement Tula. Did you notice that?

    • @moosevoiceover
      @moosevoiceover 3 роки тому

      noticed the 'broken' versus 'replacement' audio quality as well.

    Is that mic good for profisional vocal recording?

    • @creatorsvillage
      @creatorsvillage  3 роки тому +2

      Well, that depends really. It's a good sounding mic, but if you're compairing it to something like the TLM 103, or the 416 then it's not as good. As USB mics go, it's one of the better ones. IMO

    As soon as you determined the correct distance from the microphone membrane, it immediately became clear from the sound who was the boss in the house from the sound recording.
    I heard a good studio sensitive microphone with a finely tuned frequency balance and absolute phasing.
    I am giving you a secret distance figure of 35-40 cm (14-16 inches). You don't need any further EQ, and trying on a pop filter can be replaced with a 11-14 degree turn.

    Out of a curiosity, does the mac in the background do anything for VO to make it worth the extra cost?

    • @creatorsvillage
      @creatorsvillage  2 роки тому

      That mac has been my workhorse for about a decade. I know there are a lot of opinions and people are really entrenched in their decisions, but I use a mac for the longevity. For me it's worth the extra cost. Thanks for the comment!

I have static and strange hums in the background Using the same cord and adaptor, I used a $39 Samson mini with NO extraneous sounds. Thoughts? Any way I can send you the test runs? Bob

    What a handsome guy! But, anyway, breaking news! A viewer here said that the mic will plug into the new iPad Pros for 2020/2021 without a need for an adapter cable. That's good news.// Also, gotta mention that in addition to Tula referring to the aesthetics of the proportion of a cigarette pack, the maker was also supposed to have imparted Golden-ratio proportions when designing the mic. Honestly, because it looks so cool, and it being the first USB microphone that can double as a hand-held voice recorder with an actual robust sound, then YES i'm buying it. I'm using it with my iPad Pro, 2021. Whether is will sound better or worse than those ugly Blu-Yetis, or a "high-end" Apogee USB mic---i don't know. But what i DO know is that i can pull this sleek, lipstick-red unit from my shirt pocket and i'll be ALWAYS be ready for anything--at ANY time.

    • @creatorsvillage
      @creatorsvillage  3 роки тому

      Wow, thats cool. I never would have thought about the golden ratio. Thanks for the comment, and for watching. I'll be posting a follow up video very soon!

    I see this reviewed as “feature packed” and “swiss army knife” I don’t get it, it doesn’t do that much. Most reviewers have overlooked that it does mono only. Im starting to think this one is about aesthetics.

      They may kill ya, but it was the only way to get "80's movie trailer" voice.
      To get trailer work nowadays, I guess you either need to be able to be able to sing a nirvana song with the voice of an 8 year girl, or be excellent at emulating the pitched-down French horn "bwahn".
