Absolutely! I'm seeing at least maybe 8 or 9 Senior Premiership players on both teams. And the rest of the players having had long stints of senior footy!
Gary Buckenara was playing reserves? WTF? And Rodne Eade, Greg Dear and Colin Robertson (who won the Norm Smith just two years earlier). And Curran, Morrisey, and Knights. Seriously this reserves side would have beaten half the VFL sides that year.
Essendon weren't ever gonna lose the GF such was their dominance in 85 but Hawthorn might've avoided a thrashing if Bucky had played...what a freak he was.
No wonder the Hawks got pumped by 13 goals in the Seniors Grand Final! Look at the talent they had running around the twos! Essendon were way too good all year and deservedly won the flag but geez, any chance Hawthorn might've had they lost at the selection table.
