Please Help me! I cant set my plan into a A1 size if i set it into a A3 size and watch the preview it shows only a part of my plan. It always shows that the printer(Microsoft print to pdf) is not compatible, i dont know why. Thank you at this point
Lukas Müller you may need to reconfigure your plot settings. It sounds like you’re printing a sheet (24x36) to a smaller page size (like 11x17) then make certain you aren’t printing at 100%, but scaled to fit instead. This is shown in the video. Revit technically uses Sheet Extents to determine what information in the view/sheet is sent to the printer (PDF generator). If the views you have placed on the sheet, are larger than the sheet borders, it will shift the extents Revit uses to determine page size. Leading to unexpected plot results.
This tutorial combined with you answering questions from the comments worked perfectly! All our paper hand-ins for 3rd year just went down the drain so this was really helpful for turning in assignments. Hope all is save. Edit: CutePDF is the bomb
when I constantly need to print in different scales, is it better to duplicate the view so to not to always change the crop view visibility? or is not good for the size of the file? does it affect the amount of duplicated views?
@@AngieArdila-pq8mi If you set up the sheets you need to print and place those views - regardless of scale - on those sheets, that’s the solution. Setup all the sheets to be the same physical size, and print them all at 100% scale so every view you place on them will be whatever scale you have set for that view. Fortunately it really doesn’t affect the size of the Revit model
Hello i am hoping u reply to this since i read the comments and its look like u actually care .. i can't get any of the pdf priter programs to show in the selection area , such as do pdf , Foxit and others How can i fix this I opened the print mangment in win 10 and they don't show either
@@ahmedmohmed2496 if the printers are not appearing in the Windows 10 print center, they aren’t getting installed. If you are using Revit 2022 or later, there is a native PDF export function that doesn’t require the technique in my video.
@@CraigGorsuch Thank u for replying ,i satyed up all night to fix it I work with a moded windows , so i think the problem was with the printer drivers Any how i enterd the devices and printers in my control panal , installed the (do pdf ) printer manually , it showed up but didnot work Reinstallation did the trick , it works now But i have to to enter the print page throw the shortcut keys or it will not work I am working with Revit 2019 But Again thank u for replying my man 👍 I found alot of comments with the same problem as me but there was no tutorial vedio anywere that specifically answerd to this issue
Help help!!!! Using Bluebeam as my pdf software.......1 when I try to print to it from Revit it's not scaling it correctly. I have the arch d 24 x 36 selected. (Fixed this issue by selecting zoom).....next thing that u can't figure out is when I select to zoom to 100% it cuts my border off. I think I have maybe a half inch offset box around the border. How do I fix???
Sometimes there are "invisible" items within a view that extends the view beyond the border of the sheet. This affects what Revit "sees" as the "sheet extents". I recommend extending a secondary border in your title block 2"-3" outside the 24"x36" sheet edge. (The extended lines would be 28"x40"). I recommend adding a parameter to those lines so you can control the "edge offset" without redefining the title block family every time. Perhaps add a instance visibility parameter to turn on/off the extended edge offset on a sheet-by-sheet basis. Depending on your Revit version, the export to PDF function instead of printing via Adobe or BluBeam or CutePDF may be more helpful. But the "edge offset" still applies.

If the plot settings (24x36) match the titleblock dimensions (24x36) then printing “centered @100%” will produce your output correctly UNLESS there are invisible elements in the view(s) places on the sheet which extends the size of the view beyond the titleblock boundary. That changes the extents of the sheet, and makes the file print incorrectly.
Hi Craig, what if you wanted to print to PDF as a combined file but need a different sheet size for different pages. For example. page 1 might be letter sized whereas page 2 is D sized. How can we individually select sheet size and combine?
Each PDF sheet size needs to be published independently, but all Revit sheets using that size can be published in one pass. So that's a positive. (Revit 2022's new Export to PDF is helpful, so we no longer *need* a PDF printer driver. I've not had any positive result exporting multiple Revit sheets to multiple PDF pages within Revit's PDF exporter. I think that's a bug.) Unfortunately, compiling those different sized pages requires some kind of PDF Authoring program: Adobe, BlueBeam, Apple's Preview app in macOS, or otherwise.
I used Adobe Acrobat in the video because the office I was working in at the time had an office license. There are several free PDF printers one can use: CutePDF & DoPDF come to mind for sheer sizes larger than 11x17. I can only rotate it from the properties either 90 clockwise or counterclockwise! How can I rotate my plan view 30.5 on sheet only? [I do not want to rotate the real plan] Thx in advance
Farzam Kharvari you might need to designate a project north and a plan north. (Which I believe can be found on the Manage Tab > Location Panel > Coordinates. But I’m not at my computer, and I might have that wrong...) Then set plan views for each and place the “plan north view” on the sheet. Since nearly everything in the plan is model-based, you won’t have to worry about coordinating walls/doors/etc between the plan views.
Joe Shulman both HP and Epson make large format plotters if you actually print enough to warrant the $$$$. If you don’t have the need to print that often, your local print shop/FedEx-Kinko’s ought to handle it at a modest price.

imran khattak CutePDF is a free print-to-PDF that works with all Windows applications. Print settings between the 2013 and 2019 versions of Revit should be unchanged. Unfortunately I don’t have access to Revit 2019 to make a new video.

imran khattak Revit can’t produce vectors from shaded views. If you want vectors, use hidden-line. If you want to save your rendered views, you should export to JPG
This video was created using Adobe Acrobat *Pro* 9. What Adobe has included in the basic version has changed "a bit" in the last 7 years. There are other programs one can use to make PDFs, and some are free. One is CutePDF as another commenter posted below.
That would require changes to the print driver settings in Windows. Each company making these PDF printer drivers does it a bit differently. Let me know what software you're using, and I'll make a video for you
Agreed. BlueBeam is a better solution (one-click Export-to-PDF button!), but there are a great number of people that have Adobe. Since the per-seat cost is about the same for both systems, it doesn't make sense to purchase both from a business perspective, especially when site licenses are a part of the equation. However since BlueBeam doesn't work with the USGBC site for LEED forms, there is a need to install BlueBeam for those that produce PDFs from Revit in addition to installing Acrobat for filling out USGBC LEED forms.

How do I get 'Adobe PDF' as my selection? I only get Microsoft Print to PDF, even though I downloaded Acrobat Reader DC for windows 10
