- The 36 row, DB90 planter owned by Pitstick Farms begins planting a corn field southwest of Elburn in Kane County, Illinois.
Curt is at the controls of the John Deere 8345R tractor that is pulling the planter.
My thanks to Pitstick Farms and Dale Pitstick for allowing me access to the day's operation.
A short photo gallery of the day is at basicbill.com tmblr.co/ZNUiay...
God bless America's farmers!
They invest so much more than most of the public thinks and bet it all on the weather.
Great video!
Thank you.
Bill

How many end rows do you have to lay off? Does the tractor back up at the end of every pass to avoid having 72 end rows? Does it have 36 individual row cluches or is it section control? Can it VRT separate rates in the same pass i.e. the right 18 doing 40,000 and the left 18 doing 36,000? This thing is crazy thanks for sharing. I would get tired of walking around it when I wanted to get to the back.
The planter is 36 rows not 32 :)
how many acres can they plant in one day? what kind of seed corn are they using?
+John Moore I think about 200
+Robert Härchen Thanks for the info
Pry closer to 500 acres
Why are u using markers and trying to steer when you have gps auto steer ??
fly wayne The question about having and lowering the row marker came to my mind too. We know that the tractor has gps capabilities because we can see the dome antenna on the top. I noticed no one filled you in about why the row marker so I guess I too will be in the dark.
+jbmbanter well if your gps stop working for some reason (loosing signal or something else) then you are screwed :D, i guess that's why they use markers
what speed?
