I was at King's Ely 1984-91...without a doubt the best days of my life. Gill Smith - then R.E. teacher - was a legend. Mr 'oh heck' Shauhgnessy was a Geography/ical genius. Hereward Hall rocked, largely to the sound of Ely's first ever CD player spinning Pet Shop Boys / a-ha / REM and a fellow pupil being shoved down the stairs from the top floor in a trunk. The nearby Maltings pub is / was the perfect venue to throw up too much Tesco Value cider. Back then I think there were just 2 international students... one had a Mercedes and the other had a vitamin deficiency. Both lovely chaps. Ely is beautiful, too small to be called a city. I am sending my kids to King's, it is an amazing school with incredible staff in a wonderful part of the world.
