I was told that some people there were attracted to Middle Eatern people of the opposite gender there as Swedish are usually blonde and most Middle Easterers have a brunnette or a little light brown skin ...( They were just visitors or tourists and did not reside there except for a few weeks ...)
Major points for me are the comparatively big progress in gender equality, flat hierarchies and Stockholm’s startup culture. Plus of course the fact that Sweden is an introvert’s paradise with a generally low speaking volume and high social distancing 🏝
Things like work-life balance has kept me in Sweden. I see few countries as good alternatives. I was considering an academic career for a while, and doing a postdoc in another country would have looked good on my CV, but in the end it didn't feel right for me. The funny thing is, I don't even think those extra stressful hours they work in other countries actually generate anything of value (in general). A good work-life balance actually makes you more productive at work, instead of counting down the hours at the end of each day.
I absolutely agree with you! And especially what you said about some things look good on paper is exactly what we talked about within the family as well. Who cares about that when you're totally overworked and miss out on amazing family time?! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
If you struggle with seasons and especially if you feel sorrow about leaves falling and winter is nigh, i have something that might lift your spirits, think like this, it's egotistical of us to not let nature rest for 2 seasons when they've given us so much for 2 seasons, they are drained and need to power up so we can benefit from them next year.
About travelling to the Stockholm archipelago. During low season from September 14th, you can use any SL travel card (valid for at least 30 days) to travel with all the Waxholmsbolaget ferries in the Stockholm archipelago.
Equality is a hallmark of Swedish culture. It is also A SMART CULTURE: when the Swedes learned how damaging the use of mercury-based processing was in the pulp + paper industry in the early 1960s, they STOPPED IMMEDIATELY using it; the Swedes, instead of using assembly line to build cars, they took a team approach that encouraged cross-training. As a footnote, my Swedish grandfather's business, Henry Selin Forest Products (the largest privately-owned lumber business in Norther Ontario at Nassau Lake, 35 miles west of Heart on the TransCanada Highway) was the most technologically advanced logging operation with Americans coming up to see it. It processed 1/2 MILLION board feet a year which was AMAZING IN ITS DAY. :D Ken, Toronto, CANADA
We're retirees but still active so it's very much about the outdoors for us, and nature. Also the freedom people in Sweden have to be able to really get out into nature and enjoy it. I'm Scottish, in Scotland there's the Right To Roam which allows you to wild camp, hike etc anywhere. When we moved here to Ireland I see so much gorgeous countryside but there's no Right To Roam. We're moving in the Spring and I can't wait. Hoping to find somewhere north of Ostersund. :)
Oh, it's interesting to hear that you can also wild camp in Scotland! I'm sure you will love it here in Sweden. And it's so nice to have so much time :)
I didn't know I live in such a good country. Seasons I of course know and appreciate, I have even learned to survive the darkest period with out depression, I just go to Thailand during November and December
After 10 years Melbourne, Australia - I am very interested in your videos - being new in Sweden with a child. Would love to move to Stockholm. There is even German School in Stockholm, 400 years old :). Love your videos, Keep doing it! Gruss aus Australien.
Yes, it surprise me when I've met some people that just complain and are "shocked" that it's not like where they came from. 🤔 Most people are really nice though. 👍
Something I was told about from the scout that weather in the summer can change quickly and while enjoying the stay at the beaches, it may become suddenly cloudy and chilly as the sky starts pouring rain ...
Walking in snow, in Stockholm? Better walk fast then, since there's roughly one or two days worth of snow every year in Stockholm; and in the rest of the time it's mostly just rain and slush. You need to move a few hours north of Stockholm to get nice winters. Try Stockholm for a couple of years and then move further north - you won't regret it. ;-)
Yes, so I heard. Who knows what happens in a few years. We definitely want to stay for a long time so plenty of time to explore Sweden and maybe even move further North 😉
Great video, I love that you are pushing so strongly on how safe it is to live in Sweden. There isa strong right-wing force that wants to push out this agenda that Sweden is really unsafe. Sweden is great!
And it's only in major cities and Sweden is like 99% countryside. I think it's funny that people say it's unsafe and then you can live in places where you can walk for miles without seeing one person, yes Sweden is vast, you see this by going with trains.
Nice to hear all the nice words about ”my” country ,sometimes I need to hear something who’s looking at it whit a “fresh” view and are focusing on all the actual good stuff that exist here Ps Den klara krispiga höga luften i september är såå skön 🙂☺️
I want to move from Africa to Europe in 2 years when I turn 18. I want to study abroad and make one day I'll be partners with a big company. I have been looking at Sweden for a while - I heard education is free?! Is it true?
That sounds like a great plan! I don't think it's free for non-EU citizens. I found this article, have a look www.mastersportal.com/articles/356/tuition-fees-and-international-scholarships-in-sweden.html

I am not gonna lie to you but the reason I want to move to Sweden is because I find the women there so damn beautiful. All that stuff you mentioned here I already have.
1. To live on welfare. 2. To live on welfare. 3. To live on welfare. 4. To live on welfare. 5. To live on welfare. 6. To live on welfare. 7. To live on welfare. Especially if you are from Africa and the Middle east.
I had same point of views and i started working at a place with only middle eastern colleagues and i realised they have the same goals as me, to work and provide for your families.
@@ESPirits87 So you were to scared to have an other opinion than the majority, I guess you kneel for them too, as the Swedish "ladies" Football team/Soccer team kneels for BLM before the matches. You are a coward and a traitor.
Why do you live in Sweden or want to move to Sweden? 🇸🇪
