Thank you for putting this out there. To me, this was obvious from Day 1. Hamas knew the Israeli response would be overwhelming, it was clearly part of the plan. In some respects, their plan is working; just look at all the pro-Palestinian rallies in the West, especially UK and Europe. What Hamas did not count on, however, is the determination of Israelis. Hamas will be destroyed, but, the scarier part is-- who will replace them?

I'm an Israeli, I have sympathy for dead civillians in Gaza. It doesn't mean it effects my understanding that Hamas needs to be done with, no option for ceasefire. The difference is that he gives an example of a war in Vietnam, which Americans just didn't feel as a threat. Israel, unlike America-Vietnam, shares border with Gaza, and knows exactly what it's fighting for. Another thing is that in Israel, we know we are doing our best to minimize civillian casualties (ordering evacuation, roof knocking method before bombing), and know that Hamas uses strategies to portray the civillian casualties number falsely (fighting in plain clothes, using underage combatans which will count by unrwa as "kids" (15, 16, 17 yo), falsifying death records). Other than that he's spot on, sad and harsh truth. Western governments realize that, only can hope the majority of their citizens do.

Israel is not trying to avoid civilian casualties, they are indiscriminately killing civilians, medics, journalists, etc. They have also bombed refugee camps, slaughtering 200 Palestinian lives for a supposed Hamas commander (which the IDF confirmed). And have used banned/restricted munitions like white phosphorus as well. Also, there is already a "one-state reality" right now. I mean the video literally just said that Hamas wants civilian causalities, so without a ceasefire, Israel is actually giving Hamas what they want. They want chaos and death and international attention to make their case, and the IDF is giving it to them. The IDF is incentivizing terrorism, and has been for many decades already.
In recent days I have come to a similar conclusion to yours. It struck me as odd that after the original attack by Hamas on 7 Oct, Hamas continues to this day to fire rockets into Israel even though they must be fully aware that it is a battle that they cannot win. So why do they continue? Their impact on Israel has minimal effect while they continue to suffer heavy losses every day, which will eventually lead to the annihilations of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. I agree with you that it has nothing to do with the few acres of land and everything to do with the world wide effect that we are now witnessing. But to what end? This is where are opinions differ. One of the goals of the Islamic faith is to dominate the world with their religion. This has already started with mass migration of Muslims into western societies both as normal migrations and via asylum seekers, to the point where Muslims are becoming ever more present in government positions around the world. There is a strong view that there will never again be a non-Muslim Lord Mayor of London. Add to this, that ever since 9/11 western societies have been programmed not to criticize Muslims/Islam in any way, shape or form. From the battle reports I've seen it appears hamas is honorable enough to not use civillian shields in large scale. Instead the battles so far have been underground cave battles where hamas fighters attempt to counterattack using caves but are often ambushed at cave entrances. Plus the israel war warning did help in migrating civillians away on their own. Any that decide to stay are assumed to be willing to take the risk of staying in a warzone.

I @macmachine, I disagree with what Nick has to say, here's my response to him: After watching this video, I can't help but comment on the biased perspective and how the Israeli narrative is orchestrated. Of course this video is made by a Green Beret, who fought in wars to shape entire countries towards being US-aligned and to maintain a US-backed world. You also completely ignore the Palestinian perspective and do not have an objective take.
First point: Civilian casualties. The Israelis have bombed both the evacuation route, the Rafah crossing, and launched thousands of munitions in southern Gaza past the evaluation boundary that they established. An example is the entire family of the Al-Jazeera journalist, who took shelter in south Gaza near the Egyptian border and all 30 of them were killed in an Israeli strike. Israel is not trying to avoid civilian casualties, they are indiscriminately killing civilians, medics, journalists, etc. They have also bombed refugee camps, slaughtering 200 Palestinian lives for a supposed Hamas commander (which the IDF confirmed). And have used banned/restricted munitions like white phosphorus as well. Palestinian civilians are "collateral damage" to them, they are certainly not "the good guys" If your point is that Hamas is trying to increase civilian casualties, then certainly Israel isn't helping (nor are they helping their hostages.)

Third point: Lastly, 70% of Gazans, are not from Gaza, they are from elsewhere in Israel-proper and were driven out during ethnic cleansing campaigns like the Nakba and Naksa. Point being this misses the wider narrative and connects back to my second point. Palestinians are indigenous to the entirety of Israel and have a right to return, something the UN affirmed in 1948. Today there are over 7 million displaced Palestinian refugees. They have the right to return to their homes and resettle. This is the real-solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Not a two-state solution, but a one-state solution in which Jews and Palestinians live in the same state all with civil liberties. Israelis always distract from this point but it's the only solution. Also, there is already a "one-state reality" right now.
Unfortunately, I think Israeli citizens were comfortable with the status quo of just stealing more Palestinian land in the West Bank, destroying olive trees, shooting villagers, forcing Palestinians onto tighter enclaves, etc. But now they realize they can't live in comfort unless there's a real solution to this conflict. Which is the above.

I disagree with what Nick has to say, here's my response to him: After watching this video, I can't help but comment on the biased perspective and how the Israeli narrative is orchestrated. Of course this video is made by a Green Beret, who fought in wars to shape entire countries towards being US-aligned and to maintain a US-backed world. You also completely ignore the Palestinian perspective and do not have an objective take.
First point: Civilian casualties. The Israelis have bombed both the evacuation route, the Rafah crossing, and launched thousands of munitions in southern Gaza past the evaluation boundary that they established. An example is the entire family of the Al-Jazeera journalist, who took shelter in south Gaza near the Egyptian border and all 30 of them were killed in an Israeli strike. Israel is not trying to avoid civilian casualties, they are indiscriminately killing civilians, medics, journalists, etc. They have also bombed refugee camps, slaughtering 200 Palestinian lives for a supposed Hamas commander (which the IDF confirmed). And have used banned/restricted munitions like white phosphorus as well. Palestinian civilians are "collateral damage" to them, they are certainly not "the good guys" If your point is that Hamas is trying to increase civilian casualties, then certainly Israel isn't helping (nor are they helping their hostages.)

The protest may have had minimal aggressors as any protest has, but in general it did not warrant the amount of deaths and injuries that Israel caused. You can look up those numbers on your own.
Finally, the mere fact you bring the "left" into this argument tells me all there is to it. I mean the video literally just said that Hamas wants civilian causalities, so without a ceasefire, Israel is actually giving Hamas what they want. They want chaos and death and international attention to make their case, and the IDF is giving it to them. The IDF is incentivizing terrorism, and has been for many decades already.

In recent days I have come to a similar conclusion to yours.
It struck me as odd that after the original attack by Hamas on 7 Oct, Hamas continues to this day to fire rockets into Israel even though they must be fully aware that it is a battle that they cannot win. So why do they continue? Their impact on Israel has minimal effect while they continue to suffer heavy losses every day, which will eventually lead to the annihilations of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
I agree with you that it has nothing to do with the few acres of land and everything to do with the world wide effect that we are now witnessing.
But to what end? This is where are opinions differ.
One of the goals of the Islamic faith is to dominate the world with their religion. This has already started with mass migration of Muslims into western societies both as normal migrations and via asylum seekers, to the point where Muslims are becoming ever more present in government positions around the world. There is a strong view that there will never again be a non-Muslim Lord Mayor of London. Add to this, that ever since 9/11 western societies have been programmed not to criticize Muslims/Islam in any way, shape or form. While there is no doubt that Islam IS spreading across the globe because of the migrations, it is still a very slow process.
Which brings us to the present situation where we now see mass support for Muslims, albeit by mainly ignorant people that can't see when they are being manipulated. The brainwashing is so intense that the gullible westerners would vote a Muslim into office rather than risk being falsely labeled as a racist.

I myself live in a country where we have majority of muslims. the most radical ones are celebrating 9/11 incident and suicide bombing against non-muslims, especially "white" people. the moderate and peaceful ones are agreeing with their actions under their breath

Not only do Hamas use Gazan citizens as human shields, but many Gazan put themselves in harm's way to help Hamas. A recent video shows a father saying that he was proud that his child was killed to make Israel look bad. They sacrificed their own children to protect Hamas. No wonder the most casualties are children.. hatred has robbed their humanity, even a wild animal wouldn't do that. This is madness!

I had an argument with a friend that Hamas is using Palestinian civilians as human shields and it’s so sad that they voted this group as their leaders. It’s sad to see ppl and kids suffer But what choice is there. U can’t reason with a terrorist group. My friend (in the nicest of ways) called me a sociopath and that I could never understand the suffering. That hamas is not the same as the Palestinians civilians (I never made that claim) and how this just needs to be settled with peace… I am confused at their argument. When it gets emotional, I personally can’t talk to ppl. It never works.

I wouldn't use the word "voted", it shows you need more information on this matter. By acknowledging the difference between hamas and Palestinians, you acknowledged the difference between war and genocide. Human shields are NOT an excuse. The intentional targets of the civilian population violate international law, and it is a war crime... and they are our allies. We are not the good guys on this one.

@@andruboy80 Targeting civilians in of itself is NOT a war crime. In literally every major war, cities were targeted on both sides.
From the battle reports I've seen it appears hamas is honorable enough to not use civillian shields in large scale. Instead the battles so far have been underground cave battles where hamas fighters attempt to counterattack using caves but are often ambushed at cave entrances.
Plus the israel war warning did help in migrating civillians away on their own. Any that decide to stay are assumed to be willing to take the risk of staying in a warzone.

It's very hard to look at the situation from the outside. Everyone is concentrated on fighting away. It feels like we're winning the battle, but losing the war with all the pro-palestinian marches in campuses, biased media, and even politicians.
Im still optimistic (well we Jews have to be) and this is why - despite the rhetoric I see Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia chip in to take care of the civilians. I see white flags and Israeli tanks PROTECTING the flow of the civilians to the Souths. Despite the unbelievably heavy bombardment for a month in a densely populated area with Hamas using people as human shields - there are about 10,000 casualties according to Hamas (not that I believe them, probably exaturated figure) all together. And although I was brought up in the Soviet Union and know a thing or two about propaganda, I also know that reality always hits back. And there are still people like you, Nick who, looking from the outside, can analyze reality as objectively as possible based on reality and facts. Can/Will we make mistakes - sure. Will there be casualties - sure (unless Hamas surrenders). Are we sorry for life lost - YES.
But I strongly believe in a better future for us and the Palestinians. And for US as long as there are good people who stand together
