I bet it smells awesome too. I always loved the smell of Surplus stores. Unfortunately, they are disappearing from the landscape. Thanks for the video.
Very cool...when was a kid back in the 60’s we had a surplus store in our town, found a lot of cool WWII stuff to go out and play war with! Loved these stores ever since...
Smith & Edwards in Farr West, UT used to be like that before they cleaned a lot of the outdoor yard out. It's still a lot like that though. It's like a Cabela's, Wal*Mart, Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware + Military Surplus all rolled into one. If you're out that way, don't miss it !!
We drive through Clayton at least once a year, but I never knew that a place like this was there. That place is bigger than the one in Greenville SC,so I will definitely be making a stop by this store.
We used to have a great surplus store here where you could get anything military going back to WW1 except rations. I really wish that it would come back I used to spend hours as a kid wandering through and looking at all the cool stuff. And I bought a few things too.
Yeah I really really like their store but the main thing I go there for is the MREs because I get a really good price on cases because I am a regular and have been for a long time
@@GianaChloe1011 I could like live in that store. Bought petty officer sailor whites, and some navy camo. The marines blues are expensive but it's worth it
You have delivered! This is that surplus! I might stop by there, I spend time in the Carolinas. I had been stationed near there awhile at Camp Lejeune.
I grew up two blocks off of Yadkin BLVD in Fayetteville, so many good memories of the surplus shops on yadkin . I’ll have to check this place out, it looks awesome .
Love surplus stores, but too many are loaded with civilian "military-type" crap; may look the part but it's Chinese made junk. That $64.95 bag you looked at; had a "Rothco" tag. I've found they make some of the cheapest quality stuff there is. Looks good at first, but falls apart quickly. Use your money for genuine MREs!
Don’t know if you got that bag yet, but to be honest, as a US Army Veteran and tons of field experience because my MOS was as a Forward Observer, I would say that you’re better off looking for a better quality civilian camping backpack with good shoulder and back support. If you’re concerned about covering it up with camouflage you can get camouflage pack covers to put over it. I bought a huge Coleman brand camping backpack, used, at a Salvation Army store really cheap. New it’s worth over $100, but it only cost me $17! And it’s in great shape. I buy a lot of camping gear at second hand stores for my personal use and for my Civil Air Patrol Cadets. I have 4 military rucksacks and tons of other gear that I get at surplus stores, but I actually love that Coleman bag best because it’s designed for long distance carry and is very light on my back even when fully loaded with equipment. The lighter weight of the best civilian equipment is better than the heavier military gear and most of it can be camouflaged if needed. It’s great to support local businesses and especially the surplus stores, but it’s also smart to stretch your buck with great deals on equipment that works. That way you can get more MRE’s. Just my opinion.
This is North Carorlina which is cool in all and cool video. In the North (Delaware, Maryland, PA, etc.) we got WWI, WWII, and Veitnam stuff. I would have to say the shops I go to have the best Cold War and German WWI and WWII stuff. Sometimes I wish we had good military surplus stores but all we got is anquite store but they contain great WWI German medel bars and more stuff. Which I happy for but cool store. Also are you ok cause a hurricane hit there recently. Just making sure and have a good one!
@@GianaChloe1011 Thank you! I suggest using Ebay if you like really old military stuff or cold war stuff if its not in your area. I mean the South has the best US Civil War stuff currently.
Hum, I need to check this place out ! It's a bit of a drive from Concord, but I'm up to it. Some people on here say this is "JUNK" store, but I think they're missin tha point. Some say ya can get this stuff at a flee market, maybe so, but they're missin tha point. It's stores like this that are vanishing, pretty soon, they'll be gone. This place kinda reminds me of a mom and pops place, how many of those do you still see ? It wouldn't surprise me if most of the stuff in this store isn't made in China, but then again, what isn't ? I still remember as a kid going into a real Army Navy surplus store in the early 60's and lookin at what they had. They're all gone now.. I like to support small town stores when I can, a lot of times, you can find what others don't have to offer. With this Covid crap goin on, I ain't sittin around, I'll be on the road somewhere, and Clayton sounds like a nice place to visit... My point is this, you don't have to buy nuttin, you don't even have to go there, but don't knock a place until you go into business for yourself and make a difference.
We had a chain of GI Joe store here in the Pacific northwest they started in Portland Oregon had one near us in Medford Oregon they went out of business about ten years ago...miss them great store.Shoe
Certainly hard tgo find a good surplus store especially here in Australia. Nice bag the Rothco. If you are getting anything bigger than that, definately go for a ALICE or framed molle pack. Get over 10kg that air flow really counts. There are other framed mesh backs at Anaconda if you got one nearby too
I wish that these military surplus stores had more bulletproof vest and bulletproof army helmets, it would be useful for people that want to use the gear for hunting in areas where there are animals like bears, cougars, panthers, wolves, etc. In Florida we have things like bears, florida panthers, coyote's, and wild hogs.
I clicked on the vid because I thought this was the old Quartermaster building off Guess Road in Durham. I need to go see if they are still open some day and go check this place out next time I'm in Clayton too.
@@GianaChloe1011 I'm gonna have to go check em' out just specifically because I see they carry real military MRE's, I never buy the clear packaged civilian type and that seems to be the only thing most places carry these days. Also, I can't believe you walked right past the polypropylene thermals and didn't mention them, those things are the best cold weather gear ever! Even though summer is nearly here I just bought two more tops and two more bottoms from the flea market for less than a buck each. Next time you're in the store you outta check em' out, they say ECWCS on the package and it stands for Extended Cold Weather Clothing System. I talk about them very briefly in my new Surplus Flea Market Score video and show off some other cool finds too.
This place is alright, I have been in here a couple of times but I wouldn't make a special trip if you coming from out of town. I cant remember the name of the place but there is really good one Asheboro N.C.
I honestly would have to say the best price I have found on MREs for me personally would be at g i Joe's in Clayton North Carolina. Occasionally I will find a good price here and there on eBay I've never found a good price on Amazon but it just depends

Grew up down the road from this store. Always loved stopping or passing by when I was a kid. They'd put cool stuff out front and on the roof.
Clayton sucks
Wow, a surplus store that actually sells more surplus than cheap replicas and casual civvies in camo? Amazing.
Hey! I'm at work there right now and a customer recommended us to this video. Me and my co-worker just watched it. Thanks for the love and support!
I need to restock my claymores and grenades. Lol
I'm interested in accessing 2pairs of Camouflage Jungle Boots

What does that mean
Genuine surplus has that certain smell…people often use this to discern between real & replica
Missed this before but seeing it now. I’m liking for a store like this in my city still.
