- It was another night of arrests as police and protesters clashed in Portland, Oregon on Sunday - one night after a man was shot and killed in the city.
After declaring an unlawful assembly after saying protesters were seen throwing projectiles, police began arresting demonstrators, and at one point, while arresting someone, police began to shove the crowd back - knocking one person into the press.
Anti-racism protests have roiled downtown Portland every night for more than three months calling for police reform following the May 25 killing of George Floyd, the Black man who died under the knee of a white police officer in Minneapolis.

I lived in Peru during the 90's and protests for government corruption turned into a magnet for impoverished criminals and they eventually just turned into riots looking for opportunities.
I think it's important to point out that there is meaningful purpose with the protestors and that now there's people going there just to incite violence

The irony of that statement is impressive. The Hong Kong protesters were far more violent and destructive than the Portland ones have been. Gluing bricks to the roads to stop traffic for weeks? Unfortunately the DA's in these liberal run cities are not prosecuting these arrests. They get off completely or some tiny fine/community service. The dude who burned down the PPD/SPD police precinct (forgot what one) got off with like 20 hours of community service. For arson.

@Meanie Panini Apparently you forgot the long hot summer and all the other riots of the time. Not your fault it is history you were never taught. They protests intensified after action on civil rights stalled. in 1967 there were 159 race riots in one summer. It was far worse than now and MLK was not only not in control of it, he had reached a point where he assumed riots were inevitable because action to change the suppression of blacks had stalled. He never embraced violence but he eventually admitted that violence was probably inevitable and he stopped actively opposing it.
MLK was not who you think he was. He was much closer to Malcolm X than we like to pretend and many of his organizers were more radical than he was.
