National Assembly Moves Bill To Grant INEC Authority To Conduct LG Election

- A bill granting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the authority to hold local council elections is expected to be passed by the National Assembly.
This was made public by Senator Sunday Karimi, the chairman of the Senate Services Committee, in response to the Supreme Court's ruling prohibiting state governors from withdrawing local council funding from the federation account.

It's a welcome development that the local government should be independent and manage It's resources without the governors interference......all elections conducted by INEC is been challenged in courts which translate to lack of trust.
How come Senate has not talk about state police that will benefit Nigerians and the security problem
Good news, the money will no longer go to shared account. If there is no LG in place. The FG will hold onto the money. Imagine if my LG can use the money to start a local business, fix roads and etc?

The National Assembly should first amend d constitution. Is this man a lawyer?. Because d people are talking then, due process should not be followed. So, Supreme Court should be amending constitution instead of National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly.
Why not Grant Inec, Judiciary and Police Autonomy first.
