Good morning, Gary. I am all in on this turning. Sometimes we win, sometimes the wood pile wins. The wood pile lost this one. Excellent transformation. The beauty was exposed. Thank you for accepting the challenge. Ray

What can I say but WOW! If I came across a piece like that, I'd have just chucked it into the burn pile, but you saw something I didn't. This to me is definitely more of an art piece than a traditional bowl, while still being functional as a wallet/keys/pocket dump tray. You helped me see there's more to turning than perfectly round bowls!

I really like odd pieces like that. And that one I think turned out really nice. I would not have one problem with display in that end table or evening in the middle of my kitchen table. Very nice job a piece of wood that I probably were thrown away. But I guess that's why you're a teacher and I'm the student ha ha ha.
Thanks Lynda... happy you liked it.
I have a hard time getting rid of any wood given to me.
That said one or two of the pieces that came with this just may get lost lol.
But I will give them a chance.
Gary
Turned out good Gary some beautiful colours and shapes appeared there thankyou for sharing
Many thanks Ronnie.I had a lot of fun turning and happy you like it.
Gary
Definitely worth it Gary. It turned out really nice 👍
Thanks Anita. For sure it was worth it. I saw it as a good challenge and was rewarded with some really nice grain.
Maybe I should show the one I put back under the shed and have a vote all I can say is it will be very holy or is that Holley😁🥵🔥
Gary
@@ThePapa1947 lololol!!! Let's see it. I try to save pieces sometimes and it usually ends with heartache. You and Phil always seem to make it work. Very inspirational!
Ok Anitia it is a deal I will show it in an upcoming video or maybe make a short of it.
Now I need to look at it again. Well I walked by in in my shed today but did not pick it up. the whole outside is burned.
I will think hard on how it can be done.
Gary
Very cool piece Gary. Also seen all those animals. Awesome
Thank you very much Laura! Those animals are fun to see.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
That would be an awesome Every Day Carry tray. I see the same animals. Always learn something from your videos. Keep up the amazing work. 👽
For sure it will be a great little tray. We are planning a birthday party for my wife and it will be on the table with something on it. Even though she tells me to stop using the dining table for a bowl display area LOL!
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Beautiful piece of wood. Well worth the effort 🤩
Thank you Denise I appreciate you watching and commenting,
Gary
Nice, Gary. I really like it. It was definitely worth the effort. That one area with a little birds eye looks like it could have been a burl.
Bill
Thanks Bill you might be right about that.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Is it a bowl? Is it a platter? Is it a wall hanging? Who knows, but I think it is neat! I especially liked your unique way of mounting it. Great job.
Thanks Tom. I guess it is just a Thing with pretty grain.
It may be on one of those little stands for awhile on my desk.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Definitely worth it. You did a great job. Thanks
Thank you Richard. I appreciate your comments.
Gary

Beautiful Piece Gary! The stand for it to sit on was a great idea, you will probably be able to spot some more cool stuff in the grain in the future 😎
Thanks Kimsey. Maybe I will set it out this weekend and see if I get reactions. Having a birthday party for my wife.
Thanks for watching,
Gary

A, that weren't a waste of time even though time is your own B, it looks just right on it's side on the stand
Great finish what with rabbit and bear Irene even see a Man in there, just about the surprise you got from a sleeping Gorilla yeh Well done Gary we like different turnings. All the best from Lincolnshire UK
Thank you Gary! Well we saw a rabbit in our backyard yesterday. They have been coming and going. Even had babies back there. Maybe that is why I saw the rabbit in the turning so easily.
Now I have to go see if I can see that man in there.
Take care.
Gary
@@ThePapa1947 sorry I got it wrong Irene has just corrected me, she sez the turning stood up on its end is the shape of a man's head, we got to get it right.
All the best
I love the tray that is my favorite tray now Gary lol
Thank you Bobby i love your comment.
Gary
Yes I really like it. Thanks Tim
Thank you very much Tim! I appreciate you watching,

A charcuterie board! Or, an exceptional piece of art! Doesn't matter, it's beautiful! Did you ever figure out the kind of wood? Maybe Maple or maybe so many other kinds. Fun to watch you work and do all the mental and turning gymnastics this piece required to succumb to your gouge. I think it's a dandy! Well done, my friend, keep'em coming! 😊
Phil
Thanks Phil, guess I forgot to mention it was not sure but I went with Maple.
Not ready for another one but there is worse one just sitting.
After I power washed it I have second thoughts 😆.
Just think there might be more holes than wood.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
I think it is cool 😎, stay safe and healthy.
Thanks Bobby I appreciate you watching,

Interesting piece of wood, ni e job Phil
Thank you Judith. It was lots of fun.
Gary
Garry, well that funny looking piece of wood did tax you a wee bit on what to do with it. But in the end it turned out fantastic with some lovely grain, well done.
Thank you Alan. I was not sure what it had inside but I sure wanted to know and was really happy with the grain that was covered up. Always fun when that happens.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
