  • In this video we will share a demo review of the Two Notes OPUS. First of all we will hear the unit in action with a demo song, then we will describe the technical characteristics of the unit, than we will hear more sounds, in a dedicated section of this video, and finally I will give my 2 cents. So, I hope you enjoy and please don’t forget to subscribe and ring the bell as it would be of a great help!

    Great playing and video Leo!
    I had CAB M+ and this new device is a big improvement
    I can tell Two Notes is a step forward and they deliver amazing quality and features packed in small units.
    I actually still regret selling my CabM.
    As a cons I would say these devices maybe they are not for everyone just because how much you can tweak ...for others they can be the Graal!

    Great detailed review as always. One slight issue, the line out is balanced not unbalanced. I’m seriously considering replacing my Captor X with this unit. The addition of being able to run Dual mono or a signal bypass on the outputs is probably the most overlooked new feature.

    Another great review. Enjoyed the demo song as always. Was concerned this thing was too small, but with the Bluetooth capability (like Line6 used to do with the Firehawk FX) I think this could be an all-in-one rig. Would like to hear your opinion on the POD Go update with the new cabinet engine. God bless and rock on 🎸👍😎

    Premesso che apprezzo (e preferisco) sempre le tue demo perché sempre oneste e tecnicamente approfondite, da cliente ed estimatore di Two Notes, vorrei esprimere anche i miei "2 cents". Avevo acquistato il CAB M appena uscì perché l'ho sempre ritenuto un prodotto innovativo e funzionale e per molti versi migliore della pur agguerrita concorrenza. Quando Two Notes ha rilasciato successivamente il CAB M+, introducendo il virtual (clean) preamp e gli enhancements, fu data la possibilità, ai possessori di CAB M, di aggiornare gratuitamente il proprio device per renderlo a tutti gli effetti un CAB M+. Adesso esce l'Opus che altro non è che un CAB M+ con virtual preamps di nuova concezione (adesso anche dirty). Stop. Stesso identico hardware. A tutti gli effetti un nuovo upgrade software camuffato sotto le mentite spoglie di un nuovo prodotto. Ultimamente non riesco a comprendere le scelte commerciali di Two Notes a partire dal ReVolt, grossa attesa e poca resa. Insomma un buco nell'acqua. L'Opus secondo me non ha motivo di esistere perché, sarebbe potuto essere benissimo un'espansione del CAB M+, magari a pagamento per chi l'avesse voluta, ma stento a credere che possa essere acquistato per l'utilizzo per cui viene pubblicizzato. Se ho ben capito, non c'è possibilità di cambiare preset al volo, tra clean e dirt come il più banale degli amp modeler in commercio ti permette di fare se non con la Torpedo Remote App o girando la manopolina sul device. Avrebbero potuto provvedere con un paio di banalissimi switch se non altro per dargli un senso di diverso rispetto al CAB M+. Per me bocciato su tutta la linea.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  7 місяців тому

      Ciao, grazie mille, sono contento che apprezzi i video e grazie anche per aver condiviso cosa pensi del device.
      Aggiungo solo che una differenza significativa (secondo me) è l'aggiunta del MIDI IN, che consente di integrare l'OPUS in una pedaliera amp-less e di gestire quindi il cambio dei preset / dei pre. Capisco comunque la frustrazione per non avere i pre dell'OPUS anche nel CAB M...
      Grazie

    • @FaberGT86
      @FaberGT86 7 місяців тому

      @@LeoGibsonGtr Ignoravo l’aggiunta del midi in, evidentemente hanno tenuto conto delle richieste/suggerimenti degli utenti. Per quanto riguarda l’Opus in generale, per quanto mi riguarda ha poco senso, almeno per me che ho una miriade di pedali overdrive/preamp di fascia alta. Può averne, al limite, per chi non li ha e vuole risparmiarsi la spesa ma trovo più funzionale a sto punto uno dei tanti amp modeler in commercio, ormai se ne trovano di tutti i prezzi e anche con una resa decente. Tu che ne hai testati tanti, lo sai benissimo. Ancora complimenti per il traguardo dei 30k iscritti ma ne meriti molti di più. Arriveranno.

    i use this with my tonex. i run tonex into this then use opus for noise gate, power amp sim, eq and cabs. Works perfect. i capture my amps with fx send so there is no power amp capture. i let opus do this. Gives me more flexibility. they added three more amps by the way. an orange, tri-rec and dark glass bass amp i believe.

    Thanks Leo. Great review as always. While I’m tempted by this unit as the sounds are excellent, the lack of an effects loop is a major omission, especially if playing live. The opus is advertised as an amp in a box so it really ought to have a loop.
    An easy workaround would be to include some time based effects within the unit alongside the reverbs. I would happily sacrifice 3 or 4 of those reverbs for a couple of delays, chorus, tremolo and phaser.
    Maybe the next firmware update will address this along 17:29 with the additional amp models.

      Hi, thank you I'm happy that you like the video!!!
      Thank you also for sharing your findings! Yes, it would be nice to have also delays and choruses...but I think it is not gonna happen, as it would need more processing power to run at the same time reverbs delays and choruses...and I don't know if the DSP is powerful enough. Thank you!

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi, yes you can, as the OPUS has MIDI. You have 2 options: just a midi controller (here there are many and I think you can get whatever you want) or a midi controller and switcher. As MIDI and Switcher I have the BOSS ES8....but I have never test different switcher...so I don't know if it is the best one or not or if there is something newer and more advanced.

    Può avere senso utilizzarla in accoppiata con una Hotone Ampero o MG30 (lasciando queste ultime solo per effetti ambiente e modulazione)?

    I was hoping you would make it sound inspiring, as i'm yet to hear a realistic amp tone review of it. I feel there's quite a few flexible options that could have been added. i have found the Friedman pre-amp pedal more suitable for me so far and probably what i'd drop my cash on.

    Same thoughts here about the lack of a delay. It seems that two notes did the same mistake of ik multimedia with tonex pedal. Who need a reverb if you don't have a send - return? And with a mono signal... 😅

      Hi, thank you for the feedback, Leo.
      I'm looking for an affordable amp & cab sim solution with quality sound regardless of sound fidelity to the original and other functions. I want to add it to my Boss SY-300 (guitar synthetizer with normal guitar effects).
      I am currently deciding between Opus and Tonex. What do you say, Leo? Or do you recommend something else?@@LeoGibsonGtr

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi, I see. I would say: ToneX is a profile loader, where the OPUS is more a modeller. This means that with the ToneX you can load profiles of amps and you are gonna have tones of profiles at your disposal, some of them are free and some have to be payed. The OPUS models few specific amps, and you are linked to Two Notes, I mean you can not load different amps done by other musicians, but you can use only the amps included in the OPUS and some other amps that Two Notes will release in the future. So, ToneX offer much more amp profiles, OPUS is a more closed platform in terms of amp offered.
      On the other hand the OPUS has some interesting features, for instance you can use a load box connected to a tube amp, then from the load box you can go in the OPUS and then from the opus to a cabinet...I'm not sure that the ToneX has such features....
      It really depends...I would say that if you want many amp sims...the ToneX is the right unit to go...if you want just few amp sims, and you want also to couple the unit with your amp....maybe the OPUS is better.
      Thanks!

      Thank you, Leo. I mainly prefer the "feeling" sound quality - "fullness of sound". I don't need tons of ballast. In the other side, I am pleased with the many possibilities of the cab sim, because they can work wonders (it seems so to me). On UA-cam videos, I was most impressed by the sound of Opus. Ovela more than e.g. Quad Cortex and other expensive modelers. The question is how it will be in reality (not on videos) :-)
      However, I am worried about the speed of switching patches, e.g. from clear to distorted sound. And that via MIDI from the Boss SY-300.@@LeoGibsonGtr

    Lack of even a single footswitch isn't a con? Is this a desktop only unit? It basically can't be used live if you can't even switch from clean to distorted sound, right? Without messing about with your phone and Bluetooth that is.

      It obviously isn't meant to be used as a straight up amp replacement. It's meant to be used as pedal platform. You want a clean sound, roll down your volume at the guitar or turn off your overdrive pedal. If you want to use an full on amp, get a different Two Notes product.

      Hi, honestly in an amp-les set up I would use MIDI to switch the sounds of the OPUS and the ones of other devices...to me MIDI is more useful than foot switches...but of course, that's my point of view....

      Hi, thank you for sharing!
      I'm sorry for that and of course I accept your criticism...
      Let me say that the possibility to load two IRs and to put them in phase is pretty unique...and that's what I have tested in the video...I don't think I'm alone to use this solution.
      Nevertheless, thank you for your suggestion!

      Leo, I think that one of the strongest points of your review is its consistency and that you use your own IRs instead of the built ins, it allows a better perception of the differences between guitar gears... as they say... . ceteris paribus
