    I just watched all 3 videos. I'm 71 been playing since I was a teenager and have had lots of private lessons, but I have never heard this information and it has been so helpful!! I watch a lot of UA-cam videos on golf, this is the best and most important series I have ever seen!! I look forward to joining your program to get even more great info. I'm in a big playoff match this week and I get really nervous and it affects my play a lot. I play great all year and when I get in a playoff match that is win or go home, I'm a completely different player so much so people comment on what's wrong. It is very frustrating and embarrassing. I will implement this in my match this week and let you know how I do, I think it will help my nerves a lot.

    Just played in the club championship where I’m a member. I’m an 11, and have the ability to hit some great shots. But, playing in competition exposed the weakness of my mental game. I play quickly when I play- often during the week and less than 3 hours for sure. Tournament rounds took close to 5 hours and challenged me more than I anticipated. My game is often related to pace and I definitely want a specific outcome… without a consistent process I came undone both days. These videos were great!

    Sent these to a friend that struggles with... Himself.
    As I always say "learn you". Only then can you become a better golfer.
    Started doing this years ago before I watched these. I rarely practice... Like driving range practice. I chip a good bit and lag putt. If I struggled with one club, I think on it before wasting time hitting it.
    In the past 3 years I can count on one hand the number of times I shot out of the 70s and most of them have been in the 60s 😉.
    Free that mind up. Have fun. This game is about fun not frustration.

    watched all 3 parts- super useful for me! Crazy thing is it works. Part of the process of doing what you said (for me) is it free's my mind from thinking of other non-constructive things and forces me to commit to a process that is centered on consitentcy vs disorganized/distracted thinking.

" there are 2 golfers in all of us.... one who KNOWS how to play golf..... and one who THINK they know how to play golf , . the problem is that the one who THINKS they know how to play golf is usually in charge, while the one who ACTUALLY KNOWS how to play golf tends to get ignored " .

    This is the one thing that is just brutally killing my putting game on tournament rounds. I just CARE TOO MUCH and I CANT shut it off! Everytime I go for a putt that I should knock with ease this voice in my head just starts going what if I miss here, there or there and my putting %'s just drop off a cliff. Mental game is the the hardest aspect of golf, specially during putting. Thank you for these videos, I just wish I knew how to turn that voice of failure in my brain off during putting 😑

    • @ScratchAt50
      @ScratchAt50  Рік тому

      Thanks for your comment.
      It sounds odd but you have to go through your process for putting, set up on your target line and then just tell yourself I don't care if this goes in or not and just swing your putter.

  • @iainmorrissey
    @iainmorrissey 8 місяців тому

    Gidday and thanks for your thoughts on this topic. I am at a PB HCP of 4.4 and have recently thrown away some opportunities to shoot that holy grail, of a scratch round, with 2 doubles, to finish 76 of the stick. Outcome, not process has been the problem and simple errors like, bring hazards into play or not accounting for wind direction or following 1 bad shot with another, have impacted my round.
    This type of thing has been happening in the last couple of months, although I have still ended up with 7 flags on my hcp and I have lost 3 shots. So I am playing well but, seem to have these lapses.
    Can you give any thoughts about bringing home a good round in the closing holes.
    Cheers Moe

    • @ScratchAt50
      @ScratchAt50  8 місяців тому

      1st all Moe make no mistake you have the talent to shoot your holy grail because you have already put yourself in the position to do it.
      Key is just executing your process and routine but it takes time so you have to be patient.
      Lets say the day before your competition in a practice round you have hit a nice drive and you have a 130y shot to the green.
      That night you just step up with a confident swing and swish it onto the green.
      The next day you are in the same position but you need to hit the green and 2 putt for your holy grail. All of a sudden the situation dawns on you and you doubt yourself , maybe rush the shot through nerves.
      All understandable..
      You HAVE TO TELL yourself this is still the same shot, its the same yardage. The situation hasnt put a lake in front of the green to make it harder than it was the night before.
      All you think about is
      Process.
      Execute my routine THE SAME EVERYTIME in comps and practice.
      Swing the club and make sure you commit to the shot everytime.
      Practice , Practice that process and accept that bad shots are still going to happen.
      If you do the above and hit a bad shot then be content that you did all you could to make it a good shot, turn it into a positive.
      I suspect you come off the course knowing you let the situation effect your performance which leaves a sour taste.
      Hope that helps

    Brilliant content, I'm a +1 @ over 50, also I think with process and routine as much as i can, couldn't agree more with the care free aspect, how many times have you said to yourself "ooooohh I give up" because you're having a bad day and then played as you would like to play from then on, thats the change of mindset. Additionally, you know what, sometimes just accept that the golfing gods are just not with you on that day and there's always next week.

    Hi, I been playing for 5.5 years and now a 15 handicap.
    I totally understand the 3 videos as I am a pilot and learning to teach pilots.
    Mental approach to anything is key to success.
    To be honest yesterday I was playing with a close friend and we were laughing and enjoying ourselves and OMG I hit some fantastic golf shots on a course I don't like.
    One of my best shots was a 205 yard shot to the centre of a green on a Par3 and I hit the flag and it went into the sand. I just got my 60 degree wedge and came out for 1 and 2 putt for bogie. We anilised the hole and move right onto the next laughing. Boom next was a Par 5 and I made Par. On the last hole a Par 4 I hit the driver, then we started to laugh about a joke and then I took my 3 iron and blaster it on the green. As you said free up the mind and the results willlllllllllll happen.
    Tomorrow I have a pilot golf competition and will try out your competition routine.
    Thanks for the videos and yes I've subscribed.

    Thank you for this mental lesson. I just played in my senior club championship which is a gross tournament. Shot 73 on day 1 leading by 6 and could barely swing my clubs on day 2 now i realize i probably wanted to much and didn't know how to manage it at 64 im realizing my mental game needs the same dedication.

    I'm trying to eliminate the inconsistency in my game and turning my focus from swing issues to mental improvement. Been playing a long time (55 years) and am convinced from my best years - long passed - that my body knows how to play the game, but my mind is handcuffing my efforts. There is no reason on earth to hit a flawless drive, then chunk a fairway wood 30 yards (then on the next hole reverse those shots). I'm hoping that the process-oriented approach in these videos might help.

      Hi.
      The answers are in the videos.
      Work on establishing a process and routine that you do EVERYTIME in practice and competition.
      Be patient as this takes time 👍
      Eventually you will start to just concentrate on executing that process regardless of whether you are on to shoot 77 or 87.
      The shot in front of you doesn't change because of the situation, the ball and golf course doesn't know or care what score you are doing.
      Hope that helps..

    Much of what you are teaching closely follows what I have read in "The inner game of golf" by Timothy Gallwey. I tried to apply these principles for the first time in a round yesterday and while I noticed plenty of positives, maintaining a good balance of relaxation and concentration is still something I'll need to practice.

      Yes I've read a lot of books which is where I got the knowledge for the video series.
      I then wanted to present it in the easiest way to understand as I could.
      Understanding it is the easy bit, implementing it is different for everyone but it does require some patience and perseverance but eventually it becomes automatic.

    Good series. Right to be proud of this sort of content. Sadly, most golfers are shallow and most interested in hitting long with every club and little else. Little wonder handicaps have stagnated for decades despite all these technology advances. Clubs manufactured today have generally never had longer shafts and stronger lofts. All just to sell distance. To escape from those chains is to elevate as a golfer. Keep it up!
