    I wish China and India could settle this border’s dispute peacefully and permanently.

    China and India would become great partners for good just like in the past again.

    China and Russia resolved their border issues, which were even more complicated and extensive than between China and India. The benefits of resolution far far outweighs the costs of compromise.
    India and China too can move past this setback, which has been exploited by the West to keep India, China and Pakistan apart.

    Being an european very interested in the history of my continent, i can testify that trade is not allways a sure way to avoid the cloud of war and i am being euphémistic. And even the général principle that trade is a win win while true most of the time is not an iron rule, sometimes it is highly questionable. While i highly appréciate the sunny optimisme of Kishore i must confess that i am a pessimist of old.

    The border dispute arose from Britain's invasion of India. The UK didn't resolve with China the exact area which they colonised before they left.

FYI, Brits didn't even control Arunachal Pradesh. After independent, India secretly sent troops to occupy it in 1949 or 50.

    Why should India be the one to initiate the normalisation of relationship with both Pakistan and China. Why should India be the only one to offer something to normalise both the relationship. All I can hear from this podcast is India should offer this, India should offer that why should we be the only one to offer. We are not dying to improve trade with Pakistan(and I won't deny the fact that it will boost our economic growth) but we can't be the only one to offer when there is no initiation from the other side. I appreciate the discussion but it's too biased and only holding India to do something, offer something to improve the relationship.
    If there is no intention for normalisation of relationship from the other side, there is no need for India to offer. We learnt our lessons from Kargil. We don't want another backstabbing anymore.

    Pakistani Education has deteriorated a lot with Madrasas coming up exponentially across the country with each one competing to bring about the supremacy of their brand of Islam ! The History that is taught in pakistani schools has resulted in severe mental shocks when they go abroad to any Western nations for higher studies.

    India has border disputes with all its neighbors, not just China. In February 1951, three and a half years after the British have left the subcontinent, India invaded and annexed Tawang, South Tibet and occupied to this day. This land grab is solely Indian and has nothing to do with the British Raj. Tawang is the Sixth Dalai Lama's birthplace and home to a four hundred years old Tibetan monastery. In 1987 India make South Tibet a state and renamed it to the so called Arunachal Pradesh. AP is recognized as a disputed territory by the United Nation in 2009, making India the only country occupying two United Nation recognized disputed territories, the other being Kashmir.

    Yearning for peace between India and Pakistan. As peace breaks out across the Middle East, hope that one of the countries will mediate between India and Pakistan to normalize relations. About time for heaven's sake - it's been over 75 years with not much change in the status quo, esp in the last 50 or so years. The most common sense thing to do would be to settle the border dispute, both India and Pakistan keeping their portions of Kashmir, and have peace, free travel across their borders for people from both sides. It's nuts to not do any of this!

Does India had oonly focused on land areas which they occupy?? Or they have greater goals developing its own nation. I think this will benefit India, China and as Nepalese too.

    What i wish to pose to Kanti of India, can india be friends to China and its other neighbors?

  • @manas5000
    @manas5000 2 роки тому

    Professor Kanti Bajpai got India- Pakistan relation wrong,
    1. A major roadblock is Pakistan promoting terrorism vis a vis India (unlike Vietnam-China relation).
    2. Hostility with India is a prerequisite for Pakistani army to remain is power and justify its humongous share of defence budget when Pakistan is always going to IMF for bailout.
    3. Comparison of Pakistan with Bangladesh is not accurate as country need political and social stability which is absent in Pakistan. (Mob lynching of Sri Lankan textile manager in a blasphemy case )

  • @fchau6019
    @fchau6019 Рік тому

    Pakistan needs to turn away from its long standing damaging association with the US, and also stop taking IMF loans which are a debt trap. This would include getting rid of most Western NGOs from the country as their presence has been counterproductive to the country. I would argue, that the MOST IMPORTANT country for Pakistan on this planet is India, Mother India, followed by others in the region. That is my dream.

      Well, I do understand your point but it's a very complicated issue. We also need to count the opinion of the people of Ladakh. I don't know from where you are but think for yourself, A part of your state is under the control of China when they invaded in 1962, I don't think U would accept losing a huge area of land to an invading nation. I would understand if we lost the land at the time of our independence but that's not the case. We lost it after more than 10 years after independence and the people of Ladakh has been living in this hope that one day their lost land will be united. So we need to first convince the people of Ladakh and give them an incentive for their lost land if we are to accept the proposal of the Chinese.

    Very encouraging and positive. Worth taking up with Pak Embassy where veterans can play a role. As usual you two are so invigorating that surprising why our PTB are not serious about this problem where solutions on the table . Problem is that our policy makers are smitten with status quo psyche which suits the refressive nature of politics we practise . As far as our LAC is concerned Dr Bajpai is so clear. The problem is our failure of diplomacy and bureaucratic obduracy and hollow arrogance on
    our part after the Bandung Conference . Dr Mabhubani is so realistic let's take the cue . As far as PM is coerneed he cannot see beyond his RSS grounding which makes him reach just short of the peak and then stop pulled back partly by Americans Thank you . Indian Military Veterans

AMERICAN policy regarding Ukraine is tomoblise world Sampathy keep the supply of arms without sending the contingents The EUROPEAN security and prosperity are the core issues so this take it's time as is the case of Kashmir in Indo Pakistan
