It’s time for things to get a little bit magical and a little bit mystical, but that’s alright, cause it makes me feel better about who I am and what I’m doing in life.
Finally someone agrees that Jenna just plays the same character. How is her character here any different than in Scream? Or Wednesday? Everyone acts like she’s SOOO AMAZING. Loved the movie though.
She's young so give her a chance to break out and try something new as she moves from kid roles into adult roles. At that age you don't turn down massive opportunities like a Beetlejuice sequel, because the networking opportunities on set are worth the "watered down Wednesday" remarks. She has her whole career ahead of her. Two major roles that have a similar vibe are not enough to be considered typecasting just yet. If you want to see her depth of acting, go watch "The Fallout" or "Finestkind". Don't just pull her two most popular roles and then toss out a random horror movie on it's Nth iteration of garbage repetition and say she just plays the same character.
Glad to see you coming back, John! Feels like a void is being filled and I, and I’m sure everyone else, appreciates what you do. Your videos always seem to be like comfort food and that’s what I need in this day and age.
I give it a B- personally. I'm giving it extremely high marks for evoking nostalgia and providing fan service. That's what it set out to do from the first glimpse of that intro, and it delivered in every single scene. I agree half the mini-plots were utterly unnecessary and either didn't pay off or resolved awkwardly/too quickly. But this was never meant to be an Oscar-winning film. This was meant to be a fan service sequel. I cannot rate it less than B-tier for providing me with a delightfully entertaining, hilarious romp down memory lane, but I definitely put it at the bottom of the pack with a B- rating.
I’ve been watching you for 11 years man! Crazy I remember binging your videos back in 2013 at like 3am in the morning when I should have been sleeping for high school. And now I’m 28 years old and still watching. Feels like I know you but you’ve never even known I existed. Thanks for the years man! ❤
You touched on everything I was thinking about this film, especially the fact that they used that man's likeness so many times. I, too, was overly shocked. Two things I would have added - 1) How they wasted using Danny DeVito, but 'no small parts' I guess and 2) how the amount of exposition reaches nauseating levels.
7/10 for me, I agree with too many storylines, some pointless characters, not really a fan of Lydia being a TV host because I just don't think that fits her, Jenna was fine but she's that same moody teen character and ghost teen boy could've been interesting with more time. Most of the movie is good and I would still take it over most sequels. I hope we get one more Beetlejuice movie.
Was wondering where ya went off to, I missed your vids. About 8 years ago, I was in a dark place in my life, and your videos helped me out a lot. Glad to see you back 🙂
Nice review! You directly echoed my party's post-movie thoughts as we discussed it on the way home from the cinema. Also Winona looked awesome, as always!
I am stoked to see you return man. I discovered your channel in middle school and it's a major reason I fell in love with film. I'm a good way through film school now and wouldn't be here without what I got from your channel those many years ago! A welcomed return to be sure!
Could'nt agree more. This review just reiterated everything I felt about this movie. Was it worth the watch, yes. Was it a great? Not by a long shot. 😂
@@bigmizzymike It's good to know it wasn't just me. If I remember correctly Juice's wife wasn't even mentioned in this review which kind of highlights his point about too many subplots, she was a subplot character that randomly appeared just to remind you that she's still in the movie. And there was only one likeable character in the movie, the daughter. In the original most of the characters were likeable normal people the viewer could relate to....not this group. I felt like they amplified every characters worst trait and didn't focus on anything positive about them. This movie lacked pacing and fun. As far as the artistic universe Burton did well, I felt like the movie aligned well with the original. Oh well....in the end I'm not too disappointed they delivered what I expected, a near miss interjected with modern woke talking points, maybe a third installment could deliver what I had wanted..... probably not.
Yeah, totally agree with you. It was too short and too many scenes, stories put together. Like I would like to see Dolores and I expected her act until the end but they decide just to get rid of her so quickly. And her Dad too wasn’t interesting character. Also the the bad boy’s story was good though and too short too, so why they put too many of them?? Also it felt like at the end they Bertrayed Beetlejuice when he helped them so much.
Glad you’re coming back I have a blast watching your videos and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a fun ride for me. It had too many subplots but did not stop me from enjoying it!!!!!!!
Glad you are coming back and I agree! Always like you are up front. Either way, It is one of my favorites this year. I'll watch it again when it hits home release next month, but not as often as the first. It was nice seeing its return.
As a 90s girl who grew up watching beetlejuice, I enjoyed this movie so much!!! But I'm also mad, I feel like I blinked and the movie was over. I also agree with you on Delores, didn't need her, made me yawn. The boyfriend story seemed the most interesting to me in the whole movie and that didn't last. lol lastly I do apréciate how much of beetlejuice they gave us, I really loved that. But they could've made this movie 2 hours at least. And yeahh they need to give Jenny Ortega a break, she's overrated to me, I don't get hyphe, she's cute but I want to see someone different in the screen. Low key I was wishing they got a character that really looked like Lydia. 3.5 stars to me.
I am glad you want to come back and do more videos. You truly are great at having a balance between critique and top-quality entertainment. I agree with you on the film, I thought that there really was no point in having Monica Bellucci in the film, along with Willem Defoe. There should have been more of a focus on Beetlejuice.
I missed you Mr. Flickpick, you and Jeremy Jahns tend to be my barometer for if I will like a movie or not Glad you are back, been a big fan for a long time
I guess Tim Burton is still friends with Jeffery Jones because like John pointed out, they show his picture and use his image several times which means that Jones did make some money off this sequel.
@@ReanimatorsMutilations Burton showing his image in that cartoon and the photo a couple of times during the movie means that Jones gets some money. If they just said the character died without showing his image or a photo. He wouldn't see a dime.
Nice to see you @The Flick Pick! My favorite bodybuilder/comedian/movie critic. Were you able to get a role in your friend Chris Stuckmann's latest movie?
I feel as though my life is a little more complete now that you've said you are returning to UA-cam, I have missed your videos except for the once in a while you do still do one.
Welcome back 😎. I saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice last night. I liked it but thought it was ok. Didn’t like the ending…it was rushed. They made a big deal of the fact that Lydia couldn't communicate with her dead husband. But no explanation was ever given of why that's the case, at least not as far as I know. Am I wrong? They just randomly run into the husband working in a bureaucratic job,, and he tells them that he checked in on them (weird) even though they couldn't see him. What's the point of this whole question? Some good lines for Keaton though. "In the words of Dostoevsky, Later, Fer."
Hello John I honestly do not if read the comments but thank you for everything forever! Don’t ever leave again! To be anything that not. The world needs you so do I ! You seriously do make world better place just be you!
It was ok at best. I think they rode the nostalgia train too hard. I mean Delores was depicted as a badass threat only to be so easily defeated and the musical numbers were cringe and of coarse Bob. What they did to imho the best character was criminal.
Classic Flickpick return! Unfortunately, I don’t watch many movies these days. Most are overly long disappointments. But, this is one movie I think I’ll go see. Even though you gave it a lower positive grade.
The internet needs you, the flick pick dude, with average north american faccions and taste for movies that blow are heads in a good way not in a micheal bay way. Greetings from Argentina!!!

I really 100% agree with you! I had high expectations for this movie and I kinda feel let down. It’s has fun elements and it’s somewhat entertaining but that’s it.
It's showtime! I'm officially back on UA-cam, and I've missed you!
