From The Day The Earth Stood Still, I believe Klaatu expalins to the President's secretary, Mr. Harley, that he is from a planet unknown to us. By the way, I think that Michael Rennie would have made a great Vulcan. As a matter of fact Leonard Nimoy once said that one influence for his performance as Mr. Spock was that he took from Michael's Klaatu.
