Enjoy! Quite proud of how this one turned out. If you want to check out the (non-monetised) music video then follow this link ua-cam.com/video/ETUBcTv90UQ/v-deo.html Edit: Hello 2020 lol
Matt Lowne you should do a misson to orbit in the corona of the sun a pretty thin asmophere of the sun but be warned add sunshades to protect your space craft from the scorching heat from the sun
Always love seeing old vids i haven't seen anymore, so loved the link in discord! hope this week wasnt TOO manic for ya matt and we want to let you know you should take as much time as you need to make the content you wanna make :)
Hey Matt, can you do a tutorial on gravity assist? I understand that it helps to reduce deltav but I don't know how can you set it to a proper trajectory to your target. Thanks in advance.
Its actually quite simple in practice, if you want to increase your velocity by using a gravity assist, simply fly behind the planet on its orbit, if you want to use gravity to lose velocity, fly ahead, you get more assistance based on how close you can fly to the body you are using to get the assist. Of course you wouldn't be able to get free energy from this, as that would violate the laws of physics, as how it'd happen in reality is the planet would also be pulled on by you, but the change in velocity for the planet is so incredibly miniscule based on the relative mass of the spacecraft that not even NASA factors this in. In Kerbal Space Program, the planets are set on rails, so in terms of the game you essentially are getting the velocity for free.
Very good Matt. Now make a ship that goes into a low orbit in Kerbol and Jool, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, go to Laythe, plant 3 flags there in 3 different biomes, go to the Mun and back to Laythe without any fuel, only monopropellant, then use the remaining fuel on your ship to land, mine, orbit laythe, go back, enter a stable orbit with Kerbol, and finally return to Kerbin. Good Luck!
Just throwing my two cents in here, but I like the commentary style more than the music videos. Your random rambles are always entertaining and the longer format gives me more content to enjoy. Thanks for doing what you do!
An impressive achievement for me: SSTO: Single Stage To Ocean ...and back!!!! Matt: SSTO: Single Stage To Orbit Eeloo, Laythe, and back no refueling not too hard uhh, matt? HELP??!?!??!?!
TheCammerhammer yeah i saw it too. This little bits show that the devs really care about the quality of the game and the experience of the players. Thats why i love it so much.
This video has my favourite thumbnail because I love the intakes with the the gold torus inside. :) I wonder if they'd work well enough for small spaceplanes in the latest version.
"you know, I blacked out and I just don't know what happened. I just blacked out for three days and just woke up in like, you know, Venice. it was it was a dark time so you know I don't wish that fate with anyone else, so that's why I don't use mods" Damn you Scott Manley!
"Work against the limits of the stock game." .... They let you leave a kerbal in a tiny cockpit with no food for as long as you like, 2200m/s LKO speed, and nuclear engines use very dense jet fuel, all propellants are infinitely storable and nothing ever breaks. Maybe it's just me, but mods seem to make everything way harder, never easier. Make an SSTO in Kerbal 365 with FAR, and you will rediscover kerbal pain ( as well as many Krakens).
Blacked out for three days and woke up in Venice? I know that feeling, man. It happens to me every time I watch modded KSP videos, too. It's really inconvenient, especially when people come up to me later and start talking like they know me and I have to nod and smile because obviously modded me is way cooler than stock me.
Nice story😁. I subscribed. I don't know why it took me so long ☺ Also... You should make a low orbit jool space station 😀( how low in orbit can it go?)
You guys should check out the channel “Capitan Jack”. He does Space Engineer videos and he sounds exactly the same as Matt Lowne. And I am starting to consider if they are the same person. Comment if you guys know.👍
That Landing on kerbin tho. Ultra short approach lmao. You can use rcs build aid to automatically figure out where the center of mass is when the fuel tanks are empty, thus saving time with stability testing
Definitely. Matt should be a case study on how to use effective sponsored ads. Their spontaneity makes them just as much a part of the video as anything else, rather than detracts from the rest of it.
I have a question. Maybe it's not possible with the program you have. It may have cause me to give negative feedback while I tried to twist it in a positive way. It is about Terraforming. The change of the astronomy of astronomical elements. I don't know, but if you could find out how to make the moon or another planet terrestrially fit for life that would be wonderful. Thank you. -JDB
They tweak the aero all the time, so it's possible that between 1.2 and 1.3 something changed that made the plane less stable. Also, I noticed that a plane left alone for several months in space and the same plane launched and recovered without reloading or restarting the program can behave *very* differently. So, you know, the fact that the plane started cartwheeling near the KSC might not have been entirely your fault :P
Hey Matt, could you make a video where you are flying an ssto first to Pol, then Moho, after that to Laythe and then back to Kerbin? Rules: at least 3 Seats; 2 times refueling max and it has to have a cargo bay capable for 20 tons of cargo. ALL IN ONE LAUNCH :D
"Matt, you brilliant but blundering fool, your mod list is outdated! Last I checked, planetshine didn't add transparent windows to crew modules!" is what I would've said if I hadn't watched the video and found out that the interior overlay of the mk1 cockpit looks like that in stock. :P EDIT: if you're looking for great music that's not likely to get a copyright strike taken out on it, try Toby Fox's music, and possibly various remixes of it. Cuz Toby's cool.
Nice mission. I've played KSP for years and I'm still so bad in the SPH that I can't get beyond SSTSO (single stage to suborbital), so I just build MSVLOV's (multi-stage vertical liftoff vehicles) - aka rockets. :)
@@ingen6051 yep, made a few of them. I only started playing a month ago, but I did manage to nail a great box-wing design that flies beautifully.... I haven't tested it's max range yet though but it easily makes it to orbit where I have an asteroid mining station to refuel from.
Nice? Only when you scroll back, like going down on a page. When you scroll up, it changes dramatically. I've been screwed up many times trying to get an encounter to Duna, but scrolled up a little bit and screwed up my whole encounter, and I had to do the encounter again.
That moment when they tell you you have to spend 31 years in a tiny cockpit because they don't want to put more fuel on
Impressive as always mate. There is a load of gravity assists in this. I admire your patience :)
Your picture is great
Matt... I just wanted you to know...
... I WILL be stealing your orange intake aesthetic.
Thanks for starring me in your video! Had a great time

Matt Lowne you should do a misson to orbit in the corona of the sun a pretty thin asmophere of the sun but be warned add sunshades to protect your space craft from the scorching heat from the sun
Oh yeah and dont use solar panels they will just explode use RTGS they will work i guess🤔
Oh and do it in polar orbit
Why do you never us eplanet packs?
Matt you should make a dres base with a small orbital station
Even though your little christmas tree story didn't got much recognition in the comment section it was at least in my opinion absoluty hilarious! :)
Amazing achievement and awesome video Matt!
The advanced SAS pointing is from 2017 or earlier? Good god, I have played this game for a LONG time, I still think of it as a new feature
same hahaha
Always love seeing old vids i haven't seen anymore, so loved the link in discord! hope this week wasnt TOO manic for ya matt and we want to let you know you should take as much time as you need to make the content you wanna make :)
Hey Matt, can you do a tutorial on gravity assist? I understand that it helps to reduce deltav but I don't know how can you set it to a proper trajectory to your target. Thanks in advance.
Math. Lots of math. And physics. Don't forget physics
Math Lowne
SpecialSpock: no look at his channel name , it says:Matt Lowne
It's a pun. SimplyRJ said that it would involve lots of math. Replace Matt with Math because there's lots of Math.

Matt from the future sent me, he says you did a great job on this mission!
I liked before watching!
Luffythedodo 7 i liked before it was uploaded
I liked before being born
I liked before the universe even existed
I liked before the Kerbol system existed, because ksp is actually a documentary about what these creatures did
"We fixed it"
my approach to ksp and life summed up in one drunk statement
That is my approach to landing on one landing lag by landing my lander on a steep hill 😆
Okay, time to get re-addicted to KSP. Yay!
Heh I was always addicted
Skidaddle skidoodle this readvertised video to laythe and eeloo is pretty cool you noodle
Very good Matt. I prefer these commentaries, but I watch both videos. Keep up the amazing work.
Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree,
How I snapped thee into three.
wut
An impressive achievement for me: SSTO: Single Stage To Ocean
...and back!!!!
Matt: SSTO: Single Stage To Orbit
Eeloo, Laythe, and back no refueling
not too hard
uhh, matt?
HELP??!?!??!?!
oh yeah I uploaded a comment three years after this vid was uploaded.
big brain def gonna get seen by someone
your wish is my command
I've seen it already, but why wouldn't I want to rewatch Matt Lowne?
Hey Matt you should travel around the solar system with a mining SSTO ship.
Hes Done that, its called single stage to anywhere.
I like that idea! He can call it "Single Stage to Everywhere" and set it to a David Bowie song.
Brody Flynn didn't that get taken down though?
John Rose no it’s still up, just search single stage to everywhere mattlowne
Brody Flynn yeah I just did and it looks like he only did a few planets and I want him to go and visit the whole solar system.
Matt! Try doing a mission to the Mun, Ike, and Dres in a single mission and see which one is the most bland and gray!
You might touch on it during the video (I am only just at 0:23), but that air intake is stunning! Cracking job there mate!
Not sure what was better, the video or the story. Both were great, thanks
I love KSP and Story Time with Matt!
That was some crazy efficient gravity work, man. Super impressive.
There we go. A KSP video and a story time with Matt Lowne.
31 years condensed into 27 minutes. Good job Matt!
15:52 Didnt know there was a Degrasse Sea at Laythe.I love that guy. Way to go Devs.
There is also a Sagan Sea. The KSP devs love slipping those little bits into the game.
TheCammerhammer yeah i saw it too. This little bits show that the devs really care about the quality of the game and the experience of the players. Thats why i love it so much.
A fine video to watch on a Saturday!
why did you use the circular intake, and not the supersonic intake?
My biggest question, besides where you went to school, is how many hours you have on this game
I got about a 140 and I have only gotten to the mun XD
Haha a new video I can secretly copy and fly to somewhere more basic because my piloting skills would make you laugh.
I like how he named it the icarus, because icarus was a person in Greek mythology who fell into the ocean because he flew to high
Ship is called Icarus, the legend of the Icarus is where this guy flew to close to the sun, Matt flew way way farther from the sun
This video has my favourite thumbnail because I love the intakes with the the gold torus inside. :) I wonder if they'd work well enough for small spaceplanes in the latest version.
"you know, I blacked out and I just don't know what happened. I just blacked out for three days and just woke up in like, you know, Venice. it was it was a dark time so you know I don't wish that fate with anyone else, so that's why I don't use mods"
Damn you Scott Manley!
31 years. That's one long flight. Hope Jebediah didn't get too bored.
Oh hey discord user fancy seeing you here
Amazing story, I was half expecting there to be a lootcrate in the lift though
"Work against the limits of the stock game." .... They let you leave a kerbal in a tiny cockpit with no food for as long as you like, 2200m/s LKO speed, and nuclear engines use very dense jet fuel, all propellants are infinitely storable and nothing ever breaks. Make an SSTO in Kerbal 365 with FAR, and you will rediscover kerbal pain ( as well as many Krakens).
I just downloaded Kerbal Engineer and it doesn't say my delta v on the top. Any help?
You have to click on HUD 1 or HUD 2 to see your delta-v on the KER's toolbar.
You should build a surface mining base with a refining and refueling station in orbit
+Matt Lowne could you make a tutorial video so like tell them when to turn on the nerv engine and stuff like that?
Blacked out for three days and woke up in Venice? I know that feeling, man. It happens to me every time I watch modded KSP videos, too. It's really inconvenient, especially when people come up to me later and start talking like they know me and I have to nod and smile because obviously modded me is way cooler than stock me.
Why when i try to go EVA with a kerbal it just goes poof? And also, when I even decouple a stage from a rocket, debris dissapears. Any help?
Left a like before watching! Just because you were able to run KSP1.3 (always crashes for me...) Lol
Great video in advance, cheers
What mod do u use when getting that into space? I cannot get it to orbit because the nuclear engine is too slow
Nice story😁. I subscribed. I don't know why it took me so long ☺
Also... You should make a low orbit jool space station 😀( how low in orbit can it go?)
Not lower than 200KM or 200.000 meters, as the atmosphere will begin below that.
How do you maintain your SSTO so stable with just these wings? Mine keep losing control.
Hello fellow discord members who are here from the re-advertisement!
Can you add mass to your kerbal engineer for ssto missions
How'd you add a ring to Jool?
Oh man, I love that Sonic Adventure 2 music dude!
Ok Matt, how many hours do you have under your belt in KSP? Enquiring minds want to know :)
best freakin youtuber ever this game is not dead dont worry
Best loot crate adds ever..
Definitely. Matt should be a case study on how to use effective sponsored ads. Their spontaneity makes them just as much a part of the video as anything else, rather than detracts from the rest of it.
Very well said!
I completely agree, wink wink
ps I'm saying wink because I'm being sarcastic
*IMAGINE HAVING A ROCKET THAT SEPARATES INTO MULTIPLE PIECES*
This post was made by the SSTO gang
omfg i'm french and you make me discover "ssto = single stage to orbit"'
Jesus that lootcrate ad always gets me off guard...
Does anyone know why the visual enhancement packs don't work for 1.3?
you did a mohole base, u said in that video squad should make geography better. why not do a dres canyon base?
I have a question. Maybe it's not possible with the program you have. It may have cause me to give negative feedback while I tried to twist it in a positive way. It is about Terraforming. The change of the astronomy of astronomical elements. I don't know, but if you could find out how to make the moon or another planet terrestrially fit for life that would be wonderful. Thank you.
-JDB
hey matt can you make a shuttle that cah land at laythe
Kevin MacLeod has lots of badass royalty-free music.
26:13 you gotta show us the clip of you crashing into the tower
They tweak the aero all the time, so it's possible that between 1.2 and 1.3 something changed that made the plane less stable. Hello! I have both Scatterer and EVE installed in KSP 1.2.2, and I get no clouds. Can anyone help me?
I don't understand how you use so little fuel in your rockets
Could you do a career series? Id like to see how you would do things
Oh my god he’s been stuck in that plane for 30 years
matt, how many attempts did this take
Hey Matt, could you make a video where you are flying an ssto first to Pol, then Moho, after that to Laythe and then back to Kerbin? Rules: at least 3 Seats; 2 times refueling max and it has to have a cargo bay capable for 20 tons of cargo. ALL IN ONE LAUNCH :D
How do you make a cinematic video?
could you do a constellation program recreation?
what mod are you using to make the command pod transparent (you can see the iva)?
It's a little button next to the IVA portraits.
Not a mod
Theo Kay yeah sry, I hadn't played ksp for a while when I posted this comment, found out a while ago
Montagne I see, it was the same for me when I started
You dont need music to make your videos good they are already amazing
I saw you using 2 types of engines, for the lasts manovers you use the nuclear engine only, why not drop the others?
Then it's not an SSTO anymore. Even if you re-used it, SSTo is an acronym for ''Single Stage to Orbit''.
Im getting ksp soon and I don't know a ton of stuff like when to burn and all that stuff so will I be good also good story and good video
I agree with Sir Edge. A dres canyon base is needed!
"Matt, you brilliant but blundering fool, your mod list is outdated! Last
I checked, planetshine didn't add transparent windows to crew modules!" is what I would've said if I hadn't watched the video and found out that the interior overlay of the mk1 cockpit looks like that in stock. :P
EDIT: if you're looking for great music that's not likely to get a copyright strike taken out on it, try Toby Fox's music, and possibly various remixes of it. Cuz Toby's cool.
What is the visual mods he is using?
Does anyone know how he gets the Delta-V reading at the top of the screen?
Mod: Kerbal Engineer Redux
Nice mission. I've played KSP for years and I'm still so bad in the SPH that I can't get beyond SSTSO (single stage to suborbital), so I just build MSVLOV's (multi-stage vertical liftoff vehicles) - aka rockets. :)
I can guarantee everyone has built a functional SSTO. Single stage to ocean.
@@ingen6051 yep, made a few of them. I only started playing a month ago, but I did manage to nail a great box-wing design that flies beautifully.... I haven't tested it's max range yet though but it easily makes it to orbit where I have an asteroid mining station to refuel from.
Matt you still somehow seek to amaze me.
Could I, as a new (ish) player, get this to Minmus
Which graphics mods is he using?
You know you can use mouse wheel on maneuver nodes for precision , right?
Nice!
Nice? Only when you scroll back, like going down on a page. When you scroll up, it changes dramatically. I've been screwed up many times trying to get an encounter to Duna, but scrolled up a little bit and screwed up my whole encounter, and I had to do the encounter again.
Hey Matt I made a SSTO to laythe and Duna without refueling once. I used 7 gravity assist to do it.
Yeah I've seen that video! I'd originally planned to do Duna and Laythe, but thought I'd do something else when I realised it had already been done
I was eating Nutela and toast when you said you were too!
dw matt i always watch the music one and come back to the original video
Matt how are you so good at this it is so hard for me to get to anywhere other than the mun
You know Minmus is easier than the Mun because of its low surface gravity
You should do a series where you try to get all the science in the solar system without reentering kerbin's SOI once you leave it
All the sonic music.... Dude why aren't we friends XD
Can you make this plane available for DL? I'm pretty sure I can fly to the sun in that.
Matt! If you look up ksp on UA-cam, you are the top result.
What kind of monster would _steal someone's Christmas tree???_
