Great video! FYI the stainless steel variant is for marine applications where you would be cranking down on stainless hardware all the time. It’s to prevent galvanic corrosion from contact of dissimilar metals.

Thanks for the kind words. And yes you are correct, plus Wera mentions the concern of shavings from the tool corroding in the head of a stainless fastener. 👍🏻

I had the Wera about 7 years ago, the ones with the laser etched tips. I liked the fact they were short, they fitted several of my tool bags better, but I was never sold on the laser tips, I personally never saw any advantage over previous sets I’d had.
I had some Wiha too, the slimline interchangeably ones, in fact I had 3 because I had them stolen ( those packs are too tempting to thieves who know exactly what’s in there ) and found them very good. I still keep the 3rd pack I have in the house for putting batteries in the kids toys etc. After them I bought Klein ( the lifetime guarantee ones ) and used them for about 6 years, they were bomb proof. They are now semi retired I replaced them with the non insulated Klein 11 in 1, precision 4 in 1 and the stubby 4 in 1 which covers everything I do these days.
I am in the market to replace my old nut spinners, I do have some Wiha insulated ones, but want some metric ordinary ones to add to my kit. The length of the Wera is tempting me, I like the Wiha too though………………..

Thanks for sharing. I have found that the Wera laser tips do seem to help sometimes but it doesn’t feel like always. I have had the Wera’s “bite” into things like a stainless screw and actually hold onto it after it was removed. Kind of nice in those situations.
Those Wiha Slimline’s look great, have wanted to try them out for sometime now. Really sucks that you had two sets stolen! I don’t really have any experience with nutdrivers, but I have been considering picking up a few because now I am doing more maintenance and have situations where I need them more and more often. I probably don’t need a hollow shaft style but it would be worth getting just in case.
Out of the three you mentioned (Klein, Wiha, Wera) which handle do you prefer the most?

Totally agreed. I really like both. Have you checked out anything from PB Swiss? They may be my favorite screwdrivers! 👍🏻

2:34 The thing is they aren't cheaper. Those brands sell so many insulated ones in europe that the prices are pretty close so why not use insulated one all the time?

Personal preferences. I typically use insulated on anything electrical but different people want different things. I think there is usually a slight cost savings and perhaps that is enough for some. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Try the vessel insulated set.

Vessel makes some top notch screwdrivers as well. Are you using their Ball Grip screwdrivers?

The joints in you fingers close around the hexagonal wera shape, the smaller back and front end allow you to close your hand properly giving better grip of the driver, having the drivers with the same length shafts give consistency swapping between them. The wiha just seem to have a similarly design to every other brand with no real innovation.
Not sure why you would have to work live that often, but being timid at the end of a longer screwdriver would be more concerning than being confident you're aware of what you're doing with a shorter driver.

Thanks for sharing and you bring some good points. I understand what Wera was trying to accomplish with their grip design and I do like it but I recognize that it may not be everyones favorite. The Wiha fits my hands well too but honestly my favorite screwdriver currently is the PB Swiss SwissGrip handles. As far as working on live wires, I am sure it is rare but for myself I would rather have the insulation than not, especially if it isn't affecting anything else. 👍🏻

He only lacks confidence with the longer driver because he lacks experience with it. For working panels, the longer shanks are much preferred.
I don't care anything about innovation without performance. The traditional handle is far more comfortable.

@@DrEw-cx9pt That may be. Perhaps with time he will want something different, perhaps a follow up video with him in the next year would be interesting. 🤔 Thanks for watching and commenting.

You’re not aware they make un insulated screwdrivers? Both brands do… can’t get stuff like that wrong, instantly discredited any opinions you have on these… bummer, otherwise the video was ideal

I am well aware that both Wiha and Wera make non-insulated screwdrivers. Probably poor choice of wording on my part. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and commenting.
