I met Lemmy at work one night about a year before he passed away. Despite how he looks and his Metal music he was polite, gracious, and down to Earth. The nicest man who would talk to anyone that approached him. R.I.P. Lemmy ❤️
Actually, it was the RIO Hotel in Las Vegas, lol. I should have specified that, I’m sorry. I grew up with Rock and Metal music so I knew who Lemmy was and recognized him immediately.
I feel blessed that I got to see Motorhead at Coachella in 2014, just a year before Lemmy and Phil Taylor passed away. They played a phenomenal show to a relatively small crowd that loved them at a festival not famous for it's heavy music. Slash from Guns N Roses came on stage and played Ace Of Spades with them. It was absolutely an incredible experience and I was so lucky to be there.
Lemmy is king... of everything! All hail king Lemmy. Everything Motörhead have ever done has been amazing, I have every album of theirs, Britain has knocked out some serious bands and this is one of them 🇬🇧❤️💙🥳
You'll get no argument from me last time i saw Motorhead my friends band and one of my favourite bands of all time three piece STICKY FILTH were an opening band in STICKY FILTHS home town New Plymouth TARANAKI AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND have a listen to STICKY FILTHs songs NADIA AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US if you like take it from there
I first heard this back in 1980/81...and it blew me away. I had never heard anything like it. One of my all time favourite songs. I wish I had seen them live.
He also makes reference to “craps” with 7 come 11 the snake eyes watching you. Then the “blackjack” reference with doubles make the split. In blackjack if you have doubles you can split the hand and play 2 hands also in blackjack the ace can count for a 1 or an 11.
The song was written to include as many gambling terms as possible. That's it. These guy were so influential to many bands that followed. Rest in Peace Cousin.
Motorhead invented playing louder and faster than anybody else. All loud, fast music that came after was just copying them, but they were still louder and still faster. Drummer was "Philthy" Phil Taylor.
^. ^ The drummer name is Phil Taylor.......What an amazing performance! I saw them play at Redding festival in 1979......absolutely blew my head off! VVxx Foxy love fan Scotland
The "Ace Of Spades" is the dead man's hand, which was Wild Bill Hickok's hand as he was shot dead (he was an American sheriff who was killed during a game of poker). The hand consists of aces and eights, including the ace of spades.
The apocryphal "dead man's hand" is Aces over Eights (all black) with a kicker (first reported as Queen of Diamonds, later changed to Queen of Clubs, commonly left unspecified today). The hand includes the Ace of Spades, but I believe it is that card's long traditional association with death that earned its prominence in this song.
Lemmy is legend. He's the guy who'd sit down to drink with you, put a bottle of Jack in front of you, not to share, he has his own.....and you didn't leave till the bottle was gone. RIP
Hello and welcome to the birth of thrash metal. Fun fact: main man Lemmy was previously in the band Hawkwind until he got fired after an arrest for possession of drugs. To be clear, the band wasn't that upset he had drugs, but that they were the wrong type. As you can guess, Lemmy was partial to amphetamines and the like, while his erstwhile colleagues were more into the trippy stuff. Oh, and that's 'Philthy Animal' on drums. It may not be his real name...
Motorhead is a speed metal band. Lemmy Kilmister, the lead singer/bass player, lived a prototypical Rock n' Roll lifestyle-- sex, drugs, and Rock n' Roll. Somehow, he still managed to live until he was 70. Anyone who ever met Lemmy has an incredible story about him. Some of them might be true.
Lemmy is the definition of a rockstar; lived it until he died. Drank a handle or 2 of Jack daniels every day until he died, had a hardcore, raspy voice, and wrote tons of lyrics for other artists. Ozzy talks about it on Ozzy’s Boneyard on SiriusXM that he asked him for a song expecting to come back in a few days. LEMMY threw Ozzy a book, told him to sit down, and in a couple of hours he had 4 songs completed ready to record. True heavyweight; check out overkill, killed by death, I’m so bad I don’t care, eat the rich
Lemmy represented the heart and soul of rock&roll. don't bother trying to live forever, go with the flow, don't optimize do what feels good. if you want the Ace of Spades that's what you go for. a pure libertarian and a real badass
Was so thankful to see Mötorhëad with The Foo Fighters a few years ago. Lemmy was “METAL”. Sadly we lost him a year after. I’m glad I can say I rocked out with Lemmy & Taylor Hawkins! Check out the Foo Fighters video called “White Limo” with Lemmy. It’s SOOOO crazy and funny as hell!
Motorhead has quite a few classic songs - 'Overkill' ... 'Bomber' ... 'Killed by death' ... 'Deaf forever' ... 'Iron Fist' ... 'The one to sing the blues' ... 'You better run' ... 'Dancing on your grave' ... 'No class' ... They also have a few remarkable cover songs - 'Whiplash' (Metallica)... 'Heroes' (David Bowie)... 'Sympathy for the devil' (Rolling Stones) ... 'Cat scratch fever' (Ted Nugent)... 🤘🤘
Lemmy did write R.A.M.O.N.E.S in dedication to The Ramones and played the track as a honoury member of The Ramones during their gig just goes to show how much of an influence Lemmy has had an that iconic band. There is a video on UA-cam too of that gig.
The dots over the 'o' is called an umlaut. In German the O would be a certain, very non English sound. But the band just thought it looked cool so they used it. And that's pretty much how Motorhead looked at everything. If it's cool, try it.
I saw Motörhead the first time in the summer of 1984, opening for Alice Cooper. I saw them about a dozen times over the next decade or so. Great energy at their shows, always left a bit deaf.
Please guy's ace of spades is wicked but if you want to get just a tiny feel for what it was like to stand 20 feet from LORD LEMMY KILMISTER AND MOTORHEAD AND HAVE YOUR ATOMS REARRANGED YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO OVERKILL LIVE AT WACKEN OPEN AIR 2009
Lemmy on this song: This was THE only song we thought would never make a hit,of all the songs we made together. Turned out to be theyr biggest hit of alltime 🤣Just proves that even the artists themselfs dont know if a song will make it or not. You can have a good feeling about a song, and it can flop. You can put a song together in a rush, and it becomes a huge hit. Interesting how that works 🤔
I believe the 2 dots are called umalots or something like that, but I can't remember what they mean, when ya get round to it . Dog Fashion Disco - Destroyer of Hearts
Lemmy was famous for drinking a bottle of Jack Daniels everyday for dozens of years. When he decide to cut back it became a bottle of vodka with orange juice! The rest of us would be on the floor but he could carry on as if sober. I used to have boss like that. Liquid lunches everyday and yet seemed invincible. Strangely it was a surprise to all who knew my boss when he died of a massive heart attack. We thought if anyone would live forever it was him (and Lemmy).
Honestly I thought this was JayZ reacting hahahaha. Motorhead was the first band I saw live on my own when I was 15 in Auckland, New Zealand in 2005. I remember Lemay being visibly and vocally angry at the sound guy cause he kept getting shocked by the microphone.
They used to call him Philthy animal and they were always fast. It was their thing, alcohol, nicotine and amphetamines. Motor in your head is what happens after a speed binge.
This just the tip of the Motorhead iceberg. They have 40 years of great rock n roll...Motorhead isnt just a band...its an attitude, it's a way of life.
IT sure does suck who ever is responsible for taking LEMMY KILMISTER JOE STRUMMER. CHRIS CORNELL POLY STYRENE TOOT'S HIBBERT DAVID BOWIE LOU REED FUCKING GIVE THEM BACK

Do you work at the Rainbow?
No. He was sitting at a bar in the RIO.
"I don't wanna live for ever!"
@@jenniferandrews1917 Just a random bar in Rio. What are the odds of that happening. You just never know.

The song that brought Metal and Punk together! Lemmy is GOAT!
I never thought of it, but I do hear punk in this song.
"We are Motörhead and we play Rock`n`Roll" (Lemmy Kilmister R.I.P.).......so true

Always loved Lemmy, but true fans are completely outrageous & I love it!😀
Love the variety you always have daily, it's kick ass!♥️✌
The smile on your face says everything that needs to be said. You LOVE this music & you got GREAT taste. Respect!
You are on a roll today👍🏼🔥 this song absolutely rocks. Their song "Eat the rich" is good as well.🔥
The song was written to include as many gambling terms as possible. That's it.
These guy were so influential to many bands that followed. Rest in Peace Cousin.
Saw them play the day Dimebag was shot and Lemmy gave a great tribute and then blew our eardrums out
I had a feeling you'd like this song. The drummer is Phil "Philthy animal" Taylor.
The ace of spades is traditionally known as the death card.
'Eat the Rich' is a great one!!
Saw them 5 times here in Cincinnati. Best shows I've ever been to. Got kicked outta 2. Met Lemmy out back once. A legend, and friendly
Motorhead invented playing louder and faster than anybody else. All loud, fast music that came after was just copying them, but they were still louder and still faster. Drummer was "Philthy" Phil Taylor.
LEMMY plays bass guitar (rickenbecker) as a rhythm guitar, it's his trade mark
This band is why bands like Metallica and Megadeth exist, according to them.

Drummer - Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor
Perhaps the first drummer to blast out double bass pedals through an entire song. See 'Overkill' by Motorhead
Lemmy said he didn’t play cards much but “it’s hard to write a song about playing slots”😂
This NEEDS to be the song we hear when sprinting for the finish line!
