that moment when you see 8 year olds with the whole copic collection an all they draw is smiley faces and stick figures.
Kate Marsh my friend (9) showed me "what he liked to draw with" and pulled out his 36 copic set and then showed me his drawings...😂😂😂😂
Kate Marsh I only have 12 copies and I treat them like my life but I have this classmate who has the whole collection only traces and colour them. I DONT UNDERSTAND LIFE
Kate Marsh I only have a 5 pack of chameleon pens and 2 of my classmates wants them and copics and all they draw are weird square headed anime figures with lots of eye sparkles and ugly hair
Sorry to hear people are being nasty to you. Your voice is what will make them stop. I am a sketcher so I am going to get the gray set. Thanks you
Straight Up Trash can I ask if you got them and if they are worth it thanks
While watching I compiled a list of all the markers Mistiqarts has! Hope it helps a soul.

Thanks I going to put all of these colors on my list(only the ones for Ciaos)
Btw I have no life or copics! ^*^
Thank you for taking the time to show us the differences in markers. I am so sorry that you have people being nasty to you. A sign of our modern world that really needs to stop. We need to be more gracious to each other. Thank you again.
Cynthia Rosiek I can't stand how common it is to be rude on the internet! I've never had the urge to be hateful and if I see something I don't like I just go to a new video
Personally, if I could actually afford copics, I'd get a light. medium, and dark of each color for a nice variety, and the grey and skin tone set. You can also use greys to layer copics, and make an in-between shade with the lightest color of a set and a light grey, maybe a C2. A tip for when coloring hair: lay down a highlight shade first all over, then gradually use darker colors to add definition.
I picked up the Copic skin color and the Copic sketching grays for my first markers.
Ruby Leaflin now I have the sketch basic set the pastel set and the perfect primaries I had to buy those individually because they have a yellow that came with the basic set
When your friend has 358 of these and only draws stickmen
Where does your friend get the extra 200 markers at? There's only 365 I think
This was the best video I’ve seen so far on where and how to start with copics. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your preferred colors, what you use them for, why you recommend them, tips about blending / tips getting dirty / etc. Those are the insights many artists wouldn’t think to share, and those new to this medium would stumble over. Thank you!
I for one would like to thank you for your video... (I also apologize for all the idiots who HAVE to talk trash to each other.) The video is YOUR opinion and thats good enough for me. :-) Thank you for your personal recommendations. I will take them into consideration when I buy a few to add to my teeny tiny stash. (A whopping 3! hah!) I hope to amass a variety of markers over the next few years.
Thank you so much Stacy, my English is sometimes broken a bit, and my thoughts dont transfer as precisely as I intend them to, so sometimes a sentence can be misinterpreted. But all in all I am grateful for every nice person like you on my channel :)
THANK YOU!!! I have been looking for someone to show me where to start before spending so much money. I did ask for the grey set as a gift first so I got that right. Again, thank you.
Thanks for the tips! I just bought my first set, the Fashion Design Wallet set and I love it so much! :)
You don't need to buy refills more often for the caio, the refill is liquid in a bottle and used for all markers regardless of style. You will just need to refill the smaller pen more often, not purchase a refill more often.
+Krystal Utkin ummm no because the smaller one holds less. 50 ml (or however much is in the refill) is the same amount of ink no matter what size marker you put it in and goes the same distance. Say a Sketch hold 10 ml and a Ciao hold 5ml and it take 5 ml to completely fill a piece of paper. Besides the initial ink in the marker when bought, they will use up the same amount of ink.
Sketch =10 ml = 5 refills from a refill = 2 pieces of paper per refill x 5 refills per bottle = 10 pieces of paper
Ciao =5ml = 10 refills from a bottle= 1 piece of paper per refill x 10 refills pr bottle = 10 pieces of paper.
Thank you for taking your time to make this video. I will share this with my artist friends.
Omg! Thank you for explaining everything :D I loved this video so much! Thank you!
This video is so helpful! Thank you for making this video! I'm getting some copic markers but I needed to chose what type I was gonna get. Since I'm a beginner this really helped me out. Thank you! 💕
Very informative....thanks so much!!
this video is FANTASTIC very amazing super informative keep up the awesome work !!
I have watched probably over a hundred UA-cam videos about what Copic colors to purchase first. What I've found is that not everyone agrees. I believe this is because it all depends on the kind of work that you do, what it is you are creating (coloring), and how simplistic (ex. only using one combination for skin everywhere) you want to be.
I do a great deal of cards and skin tone is a HUGE deal to me and my recipients as the cards are made to look like them. This is because I create baby/infant skin tone, light skin tones, medium skin tones, darker or more Hawaiian skin tones, and African-American skin tones. One of the things I have found is that it is cheaper to purchase Copic Sketch Markers individually than in a set. I am in the States and the best site is Oozak.com where Copic Sketch Markers are $4.99 each. This made it possible for me to own ALL of the 358 colors in the Copic line. Without this company...I'd be stuck with less than 60 markers. I personally do not like to blend (really dark) colors with light colors of a different color family. I just don't like how it affects the precious markers I own, and in truth I can get that color that I'm wanting by blending colors from the same color family, because I have so many different ones at my disposal. I am in NO WAY objecting to the way you are showing others how you did your collection or why you chose what you did first. Everyone is unique in that way...and that is cool! I never bought any sets as they were overpriced. What I did do was I knew that I was going to have to slowly add to my collection over time. But I knew that there were two things I needed to learn first...and that was how to blend and lay down different skin tones, and hair, from the lightest brown to dark brown. So I started with Earth tone colors. And because of the great pricing from Oozak.com I simply chose the colors found in the 72-B set in addition to the large group of Earth tones I first purchased. From there, I finished getting all of the Earth tones (and YES! I use them all) and then added to the single colors that come in the 72-B set. For example, I had G12, G14. On my next purchase I would choose G16. This way I had a group of 3 colors to blend with. In small areas 2 colors can be made to work, but I really love the look of the blending of 3 colors in that family. And I continued to do this, filling up my swatch book as time went by and before I knew it, I had every color. Because I use Earth tones so often, these are the ones that I knew I would need refills on, as I purchased them first, and I used them a great deal. For what it's worth, that's how I started and got my complete set of Copic Sketch Markers. I will admit that I made getting these a priority...and when I hear people sort of whine and cry about not having Copics there's usually one or two things that they are putting in the way of getting them. 1) They are young and don't have a job of their own. And let's face it. These are professional markers and they are going to command a higher price. 2) People don't think before they blow their money on a new Apple phone, or new technology product. If owning Copics really is something a person wants, they will find a way to slowly add to their collection. Having personally been in the situation where I slowly added to my collection, it's a bit unfeeling to hear others either from jealousy or plain rudeness say that I should share in my. I'm not wealthy, I had to research and find the cheapest site where I live, and order however many I could at a time. Over many months, I was able to collect all 358. These are precious to me because I had to work so hard and sacrifice other things so I could have them. I'm so happy I did! My artwork is getting so much better, and the finished coloring process with the markers, just brings to life the my work, makes me so happy. Thanks for sharing the way you do it...it gives people lots of options of how to go about getting their collection started. Love your channel, as always! Have a great day!
Laira Klock I completely agree! If you need a strong red color and can only afford one in the red family, I would add R29. Thanks for sharing that with others. I'm always interested in what color was the first color in the Copic line one purchased. How about you? Do you or anyone else remember the first color on your list and was it the color you dreamed of it would be? Just curious. ☺
My first red was R27, but only because I wanted to purchase primaries (rby) and didn't want their color intensity to differ too much :)
Alicia Natalie I apologize to you personally for being so wordy. But when I see videos like this, (and I love this UA-camr and their channel plus this topic and their great technique) people tend to inundate the one that posted their situation and game plan. Because there's so many ways to go about chooing the first Copic colors, I try to leave my own personal experience. I try to be thorough and share what I have done that has worked for me in the unusual situation I find mysef in. I have Mitochondrial Disease and along with the huge list of symptoms I endure each day, and now with my respiratory system failing, there are people that love me and need thank you cards for the many kind things they have done and continue to do on my behalf. Of course, there's aways hope and a multitude of other ideas on how to begin your Copic collection.
However, when I do have the energy to share, I've generally had a good resonse, and many people tend to be very thankful for another way to look at what colors to choose first when starting their own Copic collection.
Again, my apologies for blinding your eyes, as this has never been my intent. I only try to give others options they might never have come across. Thank for listening. ♡
The Manga crash course book has helped me alot. I have been learning more and my art shading and style is improving!
Thx for this video now I know what and where to buy these Copic markers. I've been wanting these for so long!!! 😄
thank you, this video really helped me with making descisions on what to buy
I really did enjoy this video a lot, it was very informative especially because I plan to take my art skills to the next step. I spoke to many professional artists and used their tips and I have been taking many notes to figure out a way how to use them. So I am very pleased with this video it has helped me out a ton and I hope to become great artist like the ones on UA-cam and other famous artist. I really do like the way you introduced everything and explained it so nicely. Like I said t was very informative and pleasurable to watch.
I just joined Caring cards drive we make and send greeting cards to nursing homes all over the world. Thank you so much for doing this video. I want to purchase the Copic sketch markers but I'm on a very tight budget. I wasn't sure which set to buy. Your video made this much much easier for me to figure out. I have subscribed to your channel. I appreciate this so much! Thank you.
Thanks a lot! This was great information! :)
Thankyou so much I am was very unsure what I wanted but this video has helped me so much!!
I'm at 40 markers and I've started collecting my refills too (I only have 3 which are my most used skin tones) but when I started I looked for lots on eBay from people who had bought sets and ended up with duplicates. I would only buy lots that were majority colors I wanted. It would average out to $3 per marker.
I have a Blick store in my city and have bought harder to find colors (and colors that have sold out on their site). I also went in store and swatched all the colors I thought I wanted to avoid colors too similar or look different from online pictures. I don't need to have 356 markers so I'm only buying colors I want and know I will use (which is about 75-80 so I'm almost half way through the ones I want).
The problem with most people is they see youtubbers who have all of them and try and buy them all too and it's more than likely not even worth it. If you like pastel buy only that, bolds? buy that, etc. Buy what you need and not what someone else has and it won't be so costly.
Thank you for the video, very useful.
im thinking about buying them for Christmas thank u so much for the advice 💕
This was really helpful ☺️
Thank you a lot for this video! I bought the grey set but in the Copic ciao type and a few other colors :D
Thank you so much for the video.
Very helpful thank you!!!
Hey guys. I am a beginner here and i mainly draw some anime fanarts and stuff like that.. And so i am confused between ciao and sketch copic .... Which one should i buy ?
I would like to suggest purchasing them at a hobby lobby near you. I just bought the skin tone set for $25 with the store coupon, rather than $40 what they originally retail for. And had my boyfriend buy the set of blue hues for the same price. hopefully that helps!
where do you get the store coupon? im really hoping for some copics instead of crayola.
just Google hobby lobby coupon and it should take you straight to a 40% off daily coupon, hope it helps!
Carolina Luna at michaels one copic marker is exactly 3 dollars, and one pack of 6 markers is 20 dollars
Mark er doodles THEY ARE 7.99 AT MICHAELS. WHAT ARE U TALKING ABOUT?
I started off with the ciao 12 skin set and I began collecting other ciao colours and at the right time I brought the 72 A sketch markers.
Maybe i misunderstood, but did you say that copics are more professional than watercolor? Every high quality brand of different mediums are professional, it's not just markers?
Also, I honestly think Copics are overhyped. Although they are fantastic markers, and much better than both pro markers and idk, spectrum noir and so on. I think you could compare touch and prismacolor markers with copics as being just as good, if not even better.
+Christine Tollefsen Professional is not the tool, professional is a person who works professionally ,earning funds for their work. Context in my video states that for manga artists, in a commercial and professional industry in Japan, Copics are the preferred tool.
+Mistiqarts Actually you used it in the wrong context in the video. You should have said "Copics are the preferred brand used by professional comic book artists" for instance. That is not how you said it......so Christine thinking that is because of how you said it.
+Destiny Nogitsune Not really, Christine has a point. The context in which "professional" was used by the UA-camr made absolutely no sense, at least not in the way she explained it above.......
Copics are specialized for any type of drawing, not only anime/manga
or how you call it Japanese comics. I have copics but brushmarkers and all of those other alcohol based markers are AS professional. I would suggest getting ciao's first because the are the cheapest ones and have the same perks as the sketch. The only problem is they need more refilling and I never see them in stores lmao. The beginners needed this and its better to get sets because they're cheaper 👍🏼
*when you see someone who doesn't put time into their art but has a 72 set of comic sketch* -_-
Thank you for this! It's informative, helpful, and just plain awesome! I love your accent! What country do you live in that is come from?
Can you do a tutorial video for kanade tachinbana (might have spelled it wrong) from Angel beats! i really would like to draw her but i cant find any good tutorials
Maybe I will get the first recommended kit or get my own choice..
In the USA, dickblick.com carries most if not all Copics, both packs and open stock. Joann's and Michaels chain arts and craft stores also sells Copic packs (Not a huge variety.) And Michaels carries some open stock.
I use the promarkers (skin tone) for skin and use copic ciao for other things - I have grey ,light blue ,pink ,red ,yellow green, black, lighter grey and 2 others
can you make a video on Copic original marker drawing?
I went to go buy some copics today but I chickened out. The prices are so high, but I think because it is cheaper to buy individual copics that I will get what you recommended. :3
Thank you so much for the video.
I warmly recomend watercolors more than copics when begining manga art or having less funds, Copics are more useful for artists who need their art to dry fast, but watercolors give you better surfaces and textures, and also time to practice and improve over time.
Mistiqarts
aw, thanks for the reply. :3 Did you mean watercolor pens? Cause I do use regular watercolors, I think its my favorite medium, but I have never tried the pens before.
do COPICS bleed through ??? i want to colour the colouring books
im new in copics, i use to paint with sharpies and now i want to try COPICS
i dont have much money so ill buy a 12 pack... WHICH should i buy ??? please help
Hello everyone,
i am planning to get me my first copics on christmas. I searched in the internet and i found those 36 copic sketch sets. Is it worth to buy kind of those sets or would you recommend to buy them extra ( 3 blue sets, 3 green, 3 yellow)? thanks and greetings from germany x3
Can you make one list of your full set that’s in that case
Im thinking of getting a skintone copic ciao set next year for my birthday.
So far the prices i see on ebay is about $20-$30 and some with massive amount of shipping T^T
Woah, and I though my Prisma Color markers were expensive!
But I want to be an illustration artist one day, so maybe I should look into Copics later on.
where can i buy a full set of copics? all brush tips?
Here’s a tip for some people
Always shop online you’ll have more choices and cheaper prices
Another brand of alcohol markers are ones that are sold in the Barnes and Nobles art supply section.
I need Copic Markers for colouring. Should i get Sketch or the Typical one?
I really love your voice .. it reminds me of gal gadot
In Aus officeworks their about $10 for 1 marker which is bs tbh. I'm gonna try dick blick I just don't know if they ship to Australia or a shipping fee, if so could you possibly tell me what the shipping fee is or if its international shipping that would be awesome, thanks!
Your voice made me die in aww coz it's so cute in a very unique way
i have all these colors any tips for where to go next (which colors to buy now)
The markers I started with was B02 E13 & 100
I Have a choice of buying ciao 72a,b and c together or 72a Sketch what should i get?
Thank you
Too expensive for me :(
+Nathea Pilongco Same but I still buy them XD One marker at a time every so often
+Nathea Pilongco Same for me, but I'm planning to start slow ( 6 markers max) and then buy one marker...a week?
TheAverageAsia ye...no. When you want to buy a bike, you don't buy a scooter. You save for a bike.
What type of copic are usually used by a lot of manga artist? someone tell me please?
I'm planning to get some when winter break comes (were going to philippines) though what should I get copic sketch or ciao? Because I'm a paint kind of artist so I may not use them as much so I don't really wanna pay for the sketch to not use them. Though you need to refill the ciao often and if they run out when I'm no longer at philippines I wont be able to buy refills since theres absolutely none here
Liemariko ciao is about $2 cheaper then the sketch, so that might be a better choice
Liemarce both sketch and ciao have the brush top, if you're going to paint more than use Copic, get ciao.
I plan on buying a cheap set of 30 then maybe another one but different colors then start buying separately. Would that be a good plan?? And which version of the copics should I buy?? I want sketch or ciao but all of he ones I'm finding are original so should I just buy hat instead?? Thanks to anyone who answers!!! I hope I can be a great artist one day and you'll be helping me!
I think starting with 36 or 72 ciao set would be a nice idea (since they are kind of pricey), and once you get the hang of the copics, you can just get them individually (whether it's ciao or sketch)
Sadly none of those markers ship to where I live :(
Thank you! I always go to Michaels excited and just waiting to get copics but then it goes down hill. Since in the USA they are priced at $8.00 per marker that overwhelms me and which colors to get. I took a trip to the craft store yesterday unsure again. Making me really down cause I can't make up my mind. I have been researching and I'm glad I found this video! It really helped! 😊
+Jamie Du
WHAT!? $8!?!?
You got to be kidding me!!
Its $6.99 in where i live, i live in the USA too.
BUT THAT PRIZE THO! o-o
+Goat maker I live in Texas too it's $8.00 in my city at hobby lobby and Michaels.
woah copics are apparently like ten dollars in the U.K. but its like 2.50 pounds in the UK per marker near my local hobbycraft
awh lucky.... i cant even afford anything here in the US. all the copics are like 50 or 80 dollars. most of the time 200! guess i'll be sticking with crayola for a while haha
i just bought some copic and the tips are leaking ink in blotches - is that normal or is it signs of a bad package of markers?
if you have a michaels craft store like we do in canada you can get them there - they usually have a 40 - 50 % off special once a month - i just bought 6 for 30$
take both the tips off and let the marker sit for 5-10 minutes. Could be an air pressure issue in the pen. I had the same issue with one, but this method cleared it up.
I'm not sure what to do. I really want 36 b set, but it's like $120 off ebay from my own pocket. I'm worried if I dont end up liking them or using them. Should i get them?
Buy a few first. Copic sells trio markers that blend well together. If you enjoy it, go buy more.
I don't know if it's true that Copic ciao markers have less ink than for example a sketch marker. I've seen a few videos where people try to fill as many pages as possible with one marker, and it seems like the ciao markers can pretty much hold up With the sketch marker. 🤔 I don't really care tbh, because all Copic markers are great
For my first ones I got a twelve set so like red orange yellow green blue light blue pink violet black light green grey and light grey
What paper works best with Copic?
Please give me a basic color set. I love manga and doodling but I don't have markers so I draw black and White. Please brother. Please replay
we have Copic markers here it is 63 pesos each can some one tell me what 63 pesos is equivalent to dollars?
These are the Best Markers ever!!!!!
I guess your colour choice just depends on what you draw the most - e.g if you draw lots of flowers and plants your not really going to want skin colours as much as you want others right?
I went to hobby lobby and spent $20:00 on 4 markers! I'm broke now that was two weeks allowance and they were a cheaper version I don't know how I'll ever improve if I can't afford to improve
I honestly feel that copic markers are overrated. There also very difficult to get used to.. Have you tried water colour? Or different. Cheaper version of copic markers?
+Samara Alsbrooks Well, copic are a long term investment, You slowly build up your collection. But anyway, try to find copic alternative markers or go for other arts supplies like water colour.
Well, that was cheap! Its 32 dollars where I live, took me 1 year of allowance to get the 64 markers I have now D:
You don’t improve by getting better stuff, you improve by practicing! So practice, till you can afford copics!
I just ordered my first Copic on Amazon, a 12 set and yr0000
In Switzerland amazon only delivers books -_-
i want to buy some so i can color and ink my gon freeces, beerus, and adventure time drawings
I’m twelve and I want the copic ciao so bad...I’m terrible at saving money btw. Also I’m not the best artist but I would like to get better at drawing. Any tips on weather I should get them or not???
Then try watercolors. Similar effect, way cheaper. Check out
my videos on the watercolor manga tooic :)
hey what song is that used in the video? anyone know?
It is so hard what color I should pick
People, don't hate on me when I say I have 36 Copic markers cuz they are all my BROTHERS. My brother stopped drawing and gave his copics to me so they are not technically mine... He is starting to draw again which is so nice! The only Copic marker that's "actually" mine is E51, Milky White.
@Mistiqarts Which set would you prefer for architecture students for their portfolios?
When I'm in the draw things shop I was looking for Copic and i didn't found but when i looking down i screaming because I found it hahah but I buy the 36 marker
You get what you pay for. And Copics win hands down. Quality and practicality. Refillable. Once bought, they're yours forever. It's like a Louis Vuitton bag or Mercedes....it's worth the price. Seriously.
Where can I buy copic markers in the EU or in Hungary? On amazon and ebay they not always ship to here.
Can u do FLEXMARKERS FOR BEGGINERS, please???
What’s with the comment section being so salty? People are not wasting YOUR money for buying copics to use on less professional drawings. If they’re not that advanced at drawing they may not need Copic markers, but it doesn’t have anything to do with you if they want it.
You said BG75 twice, I think you meant BG57 the second time.
mấy màu này mua ở hiệu sách có không nhỉ !!
wait do u have a manga
there are 4 coics markers you forgot the wide bb
I hate when I see people pull out full sets of copics, and then use them on adult coloring books. 😭
I screwed up... Everyone says for a beginner get a small one but i got a huge one ._. crap
😵🤗😻I just bought my first C👁PIC MARKER today. Yes I bought. I saved my own money and bought 2 of the sketch versions. At my local art store. I love ✏️drawing✍🏽 it's a hobby of mine and I feel like it was worth the money it cost $5.75 each there was a 🆒 sale. Ik they retail usually for 💸$7.99 but in my store there $6.19. But again like I said it was only $5.75 still a bit pricey😅, but Wat can I say.🤔
BTW I got the colors E11 (skin tone/lightskin) and R32 (cheek/blush/pink)👌🏽👍🏽
E11 is my favorite skin tone! I have to buy a refill tomorrow since the store is closed :)
Who hates those people that have a lot of copics and draw stick figures
So dam true!!!!Thats beginning stuff and if you're either middle or more experienced then you can use professional supplies like dude you just wasted your money!!!My sister said "I'm gonna use copics for my school supplies markers" and she draws the most simplest drawings and she's in 4th grade which annoys me!!!!
+Iabeeb Qayyoom Dudeeee.
Lily Meister so true
Ylime Kona yeah!!! And I'm a good drawer and have like only 30 copics, then there's like 10 years running around with all 380 -_-
Brynn Bowen actually theres 358... but i totally agree, i just bought a 12 pack to try them and they seem great
