  • Telugu story:The Princess and the PeaOnce upon a time, there was a prince who wanted to marry a real princess. He traveled all over the world to find one, but there was always something wrong. There were plenty of princesses, but he could never be sure whether they were real princesses because something was always off.One evening, a terrible storm arose. Lightning flashed, thunder roared, and the rain poured down in torrents. Suddenly, there was a knock at the palace door, and the old king went to open it. Standing in the rain was a princess. But she was in a terrible state; her clothes were soaked, and she looked miserable.Despite her appearance, she claimed to be a real princess. The queen, however, was suspicious. To find out if she was truly a princess, the queen decided to set up a test. She went into the bedroom, took all the bedding off the bed, and placed a single pea on the bed frame. Then she took twenty mattresses and laid them on top of the pea, followed by twenty feather beds on top of the mattresses. The next morning, the queen asked the princess how she had slept."Oh, terribly!" said the princess. "I barely closed my eyes all night. Heaven knows what was in the bed, but I was lying on something so hard that I'm black and blue all over. It was dreadful!"The queen smiled, for she knew that only a real princess could be so sensitive. The pea had bruised her even through twenty mattresses and twenty feather beds! The prince rejoiced because he had finally found a real princess. They were married, and the pea was placed in a museum, where it may still be seen today if no one has taken it.And they all lived happily ever after. This story was originally written by Hans Christian Andersen and is a classic fairy tale known for its whimsical test of true royalty.
