Very large fire destroys several businesses in Elburg

On Sunday evening around 10.30pm, emergency services were alerted to a blazing fire. The fire raged in a multi-company building on Noorderbreedte in Elburg. It was soon scaled up by the fire brigade. Thick black clouds of smoke moved over Oostendorp towards the town of Elburg. The fire involved a lot of flying fire to the residential area, partly because of this, it was scaled up to 'very large fire'. The fierce blaze soon spread to other businesses in the building. To better coordinate the incident with various emergency parties, 'grip 1' was made.
At 11.55pm, an NLalert was sent to residents of Oostendorp, Elburg and part of Flevoland. The message advised residents to keep windows and doors closed and turn off building ventilation.
Soot particles found on residents' property can be picked up with gloves and de-opened. If there is much inconvenience from ash residue, contact can be made through the Municipality of Elburg.
02:38 a.m. The signal fire master was issued. The demolition work has started and post-extinguishing has begun. This work will continue into the morning hours. How the fire started is not known. The fire started in one of the businesses at the back of the building.
