This is my local park and its a real shame to see how poorly Over the hill 2 has aged. I remember when Over the Hill 1 opened in 2008 and it actually was quite a good addition. Although nothing will ever come close to the original Beelzee Bob's Trail, that soundtrack bring back so many childhood memories
Beelzee Bob’s Trail was amazing. My childhood! I was obsessed with that ride and would go on it again and again and sketch the layout when I should’ve been doing homework! It was so fun and unique!
The staff is what makes this park in my opinion. How to turn an okay park into an amazing experience. A lot of parks could learn a lot from Adventure Island.
My brother works there I live like 2 minutes away it is the best place to work I have an annual pass if one of my friends ask me to recommend a theme park this would be my number one don't get me wrong I love all the theme parks in the world they are the best but adventure Island is the top by far
I'm old enough (just) to remember when Southend had rides on a pier. Literally my first coastal town beach as a young un !! Got one specific flashback memory. Thinking I must have been about 4 / 5 years old.
i’ve only recently started watching your channel, and as soon as i saw this one, i had to watch it! this is my local theme park, living only a half hour drive from Southend, and my family and i used to go every summer for as long as i can remember, until all us kids started working and didn’t get the summer holidays lol. i always have the best time there! the staff have ALWAYS been incredible! im going again on Wednesday, first time since 2019, and im so excited to give Screature a go! Adventure Island will always be my favourite park, it holds a very special place in my heart ❤️
Yes!! One of my favourite theme parks in the UK, axis is on point, finally got the nerve to ride it! Screature, absolutely amazing!!! Short queues and a go to park!
Southend-On-Sea’s my local seaside resort that has so much potential that boasts so many attractions from historic heritage, wildlife conservation, vacations even It’s very own awesome endless amusement fun park Adventure Island. Adventure Island has come a long way on leaps and bounds progressing ever since my era early 80’s that It’s become a mini version of Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The entire staff have worked endlessly hard by keeping this amazing unique park maintained, I love how the park caters for everyone families to enjoy with free entry different riding options tickets wristbands, I love the positive atmosphere at Adventure Island especially all the staff engage with the tourists throughout the Day that’s completely full of happy positive vibes creating so many new experiences

Both myself and my friend both visited this amusement park twice this year and have both times really enjoyed it. Think for future? Maybe they could buy land over the road and relocate all restaurants, food stalls and maybe a few rides over there and create more space for more aswell new attractions, coasters and rides. Or like you stated maybe build a new dark ride with space used above for both Dragon Claw & maybe Screature? Would honestly love to see a coaster a.k.a permanent coaster built here with more higher in height than Rage with maybe not vertical drops, but steep drops at an angle like Pepsi Max, just not as high as that? Or a log flume here as I think thats something I would like to see here next in future. Could 100% see Screature be relocated near where Tidal Wave slides are 100%, also can maybe see Spooks Ville maybe going in future. Its a good ride for families and kids, but for adults, not so much. But in my opinion, I think they could do with something different there for all ages. Found Archelon could do with better seats as feel uncomfortable in my opinion, good ride, but yeah thats the only feedback for that ride. Love the park, but would love to maybe see new rides here in future especially both inside aswell outside and maybe could do with expansion via land purchase to build bigger ride types here, but well have to see in future. Anyways, cheers for another vlog, really enjoyed and look forward to seeing more videos again in future. 😀👍
The owners of Adventure Island do already own some other properties that are outside of the park and along the seafront (like the Brittania Fish and Chips and the Three Shells cafes). I doubt they'd get permission to expand space for more rides outside the park though, interestingly enough if you cross the road to where the arcades are and walk East, you'll come to a large boarded-up area where some flats are supposed to be being built - part of this site actually used to have a small funfair on it called "Dizzyland" (I'm not kidding!). And across the street from that, the famous (sadly now derelict) Kursaal buidling, which used to serve as the entrance to a large amusement park pre-dating Adventure Island by several decades. That's now a large housing estate. So there is precedent for having rides outside of the "sunken garden" where Adventure Island resides. The problem with Southend is, and has been for many decades, they still can't decide whether they want to be a tourist hotspot, a student town, a commuter town or a town of office blocks. The council tries to be all things, and many times fails. As a result, a lot of parts of town look very run-down and attract the wrong sort of people.
Always gone here since me and my brother were little. An amazing park with great rides and such charismatic staff as always! Great memories. (Can’t forget the fake station in the original ‘Over The Hill’, was an awesome jump scare). Can’t go wrong with a cheeky unlimited wristband!

Skegness is the best with bottons and obviously fantasy island just nextdoor in Ingoldmells but yes Southend is good, there's alot more to do than Clacton, I still like clacton too, mainly because it's so close to me
@@nemesis8626 I was a Londoner in part of my childhood. As said Southend was the first seaside resort I remember visiting but also around the same time we had family in Jaywick, thus can remember a arcade and fair there. Then approaching 8/9...visited Great Yarmouth. Then at age 10, moved out of London to North Norfolk and yes from there I remember first trip to Skegness but not to Ingoldmells. A great vlog from my local park (live other side of Essex). I always enjoy a lovely visit to Adventure Island, especially on a summer evening, just perfect. I do miss the atmospheric walk-through attractions of the 90s, Blackbeards pirate adventure and the Fantasy Dome. Also the raging river log flume that used to be where Rage is now. As others have said, a new water ride for the park would be brilliant. Overall though the park is still so fun and colourful and the way the staff interact is second to none! Would love to see the park mascots out more often, especially Snappy! Hope you enjoyed your day. ☺️
Rachael, I'm impressed that someone else remembers the Fantasy Dome! Such a classic walk-through attraction, one of the best and definitely weirdest (the strange winter scene in the middle with the penguins...). The log flume was a classic, but IIRC it wasn't in the park for very long at all (6 or 7 years maybe?). Maybe it just cost too much to run. But you really did get completely soaked if you happened to be walking past the final drop...
@@bretton_woods oh yes, it was a wonderful attraction! I feel like it was one that really sticks in your mind, due to how quirky and unique it was! Apparently there is a an attraction called ‘Rumpus Castle’ in Black Gang Chine that was made by the same company though, so I’d love to go check that out! The Raging River log flume was there for around a decade, as it opened with that side of the park around 1996, and then closed in 2006. It was a decent ride and I enjoyed it a lot! Always had a huge queue in the summer! Oh my gosh that splash zone, yes you got soaked there! Lots of laughs 😄
Great vlog as always folks! Looks like another UK park to add to my to-do list! Rage, Axis and Time Machine all look incredible, with a broad supporting cast of junior coasters and flats!
The funhouse button thing you kept saying is at Blackgang Chine on the Isle of Wight I think the laughing donkey in the mirror in the Manor House walk through.
Great vlog as always! I agree with you Shawn about BPB. Should be free to enter like it was years ago. What an unusual ride Time Machine is! I noticed that Charlotte had her eyes closed whilst she rode it! 🤣
very good on and off video pov's Shawn and Charlotte at Adventure Island in Southend-on-Sea for an afternoon and evening of awesome rides! It would be a real gp magnet and us ride junkies would love it for the force and gut drop as you go down.
I’m here for my bday in 2 weeks! Hopefully nice weather! Not as hot as the last 2 days though, It hit 40 degrees at Thorpe park yesterday, tidal wave would have been beautiful to ride haha
They did have a log flume ride once before (Raging River) but it didn't seem to be in the park very long at all, IIRC it opened around 1996 and closed around...2004-5? It was near where Rage is now.
It’s been a few years since I was in Southend although I have never visited Adventure Island. Some good looking family coasters there along with plenty of flat rides. Nice vlog Shawn and Charlotte and can’t wait for your Denmark and Florida vlogs.😉👌
1000000% agree about Blackpool. When we go on a trip there is usually 3 of us but 1 of us doesn’t like rides so just goes to see tower etc but then can’t come in the park to watch the other 2 because she has to pay even though she won’t go on any rides
Great vid Shawn and Charlotte! The G's must be really weird on Time Machine when it is facing backwards ... I guess no matter which direction, your blood is always in your feet!
We visited adventure island back in April . Love the rides and a good price too . Was reluctant to go on axis but my son convinced me to go on it. It used to be me convincing him to go on the thrill rides ( not anymore 😂) Actually really enjoyed it and the hang time as you go over the top is pretty good too. Found it more intense then Shaun suggests though
This looks like such an ingenious park! I love the darkrides. The first one looks very clever, with minimal design and movement creating lots of atmosphere. The second one, with two different lighting settings looks amazing. I noticed the spinning tunnel creates an ocean like effect on the outside, like waves rolling on the beach. Amazing. I also noticed that you really enjoy the small coasters lately, Shawn. Is that something that’s changed over the years?
37:27 The Adventureville dark ride is interesting, but it is not for people who have phobias on imamate objects. I think there is a dark ride in South Korea similar to Adventureville.
Ive just found out about this park my dad sent a link to there website and were defo going, i seached it up on yt and your guys vid poped up cant wait to go havnt been to a new theme park in a while ccccc:
I am going here tomorrow and want to do Rage but am scared of that first drop. I have never done a vertical or beyond vertical drop before . Rest of coaster doesn’t bother me. How intense / scary is that first drop ? Do you get ejector air ? Feel like you’re going to fall out?
I bottled it and let my wife do it. She does all rides . She said it was so intense and wouldn’t go on it again and that it was more intense than stealth
I miss that! It had a pretty cohesive Peter Pan/pirates theme throughout the park too, with the big ship in the middle (where adventure inside is now) featuring animatronics and spooky waxworks in the dungeons. It was really great. And of course Never Never Land that was across the road followed the theme too.
That time machine can sure make you dizzy i think. I think if you look sideways in a Huss Enterprise you get the same effect. And isn't that new attraction a Tivoli Orbiter?
On August 1st I am going to adventure island and adventure inside and I am going to the seaside and I am going to get ice-cream with sprinkles and I am going to boiling and go the playaera and do some rides in adventure inside. And I am going to the arcade to play some games with my cousins in Southend on sea on Tuesday. Are you guys jealous or not. 🎉😂
Glad your back there and it's sad they got rid of the orbiter ( vortex) and dragons nest (which is coming back maybe ) and the huss tri star (scorpion) but it's a nice edition for adding a tivoli extreme
Hey Shawn, just been to Pettit's animal park their rides are really fun with loads of cool theming, as for great Yarmouth we had a great time lovely fish n chips at Christopher's cafe overlooking joyland unfortunately both fun parks were completely rammed with super long queue times even the car parks were completely rammed however we had pay by phone App how did you manage in the busy school holidays

Great vlog and also a reason you might see Christmas stuff this month in some places is because there's a thing called Christmas in July
I went on my first upside down roller coaster today and I went on the rage not gonna lie it was amazing but very scary.
Just found out I’m going to Butlins Skegness next week, can’t wait to check fantasy island out
Have a great time!
Love the vlogs
And the the on ride povs
They’re pretty insane…
Thank you!
Great video as usual, Southport pleasure land has become free entry for the rest of the season which I'm sure will add to the atmosphere.
Thank you! I’m sure that’ll definitely help!
Need to get on Axis!!! I've always wished Mealstrom at Drayton would go all the way over! Love these rides, pirate ship feeling on a higher spectrum!
It’s a fantastic flat ride!
glad to see you two back at adventure island!
Always great to get back to this fantastic park!
My cousin is actually the manager here so it's really appreciated that you are enjoying your time here
It’s a great park!
Why did they get rid of the water rides? They were great
Looks like a great park to visit ! Thanks Shaun and Charlotte xx
It’s such a great park!
Axis was the first ride me and my boyfriend went on when me met! :)
How many gs cab the deadliest roller coaster in south end pull bc I'm going there soon and I wanna experience some stuff
Great to see you back! How would you compare the intensity of Screature to Time Machine?
I’ve been on Screature but not time machine.
Time Machine is a different type of intensity!
I went there 1 year ago brings back scary memories😂
@@greenbrothersuk I went on twice yesterday and it was my first time on it just do it once you’ve done it u won’t regret it
I remember the days when it used to be called Peter pans playground
I miss that! It had a pretty cohesive Peter Pan/pirates theme throughout the park too, with the big ship in the middle (where adventure inside is now) featuring animatronics and spooky waxworks in the dungeons. It was really great. And of course Never Never Land that was across the road followed the theme too.
You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the content
Thanks for watching!
This was so useful thank you!
You should come back. They have added the new city wheel.
Did you enjoy yourself mate I’m going ther next month hope I get to meet u one day I’m heading to Chessington on Friday so I got a good day set
We had a great time!
I love this channel ! 😊😊
They do train their staff well, good to see.
The staff are amazing!
Only just found this Vlog. Handy timing as we’ve just got annual passes for our visits this year having never been before. Does AI sell merch?
They do!
Went on Saturday Time Machine was in pieces.
Just the base and the triangular piece from the top there rest of it missing
That time machine can sure make you dizzy i think. I think if you look sideways in a Huss Enterprise you get the same effect. And isn't that new attraction a Tivoli Orbiter?
Time Machine is such a crazy ride!
Gonna be our 1st HHN this year can't wait.
Have a great time!
Paratroopers extreme
Good to see the inhouse stuff
Engineers making something unique
Oh hey it's Stomach Destroyer from Amazing World Of Gumball! lol
@GIFTED . THANKS 4 SHARING TPW CREW NICE PARK AND NICE RIDES AND TIME MACHINE
Thanks for watching!
You nailed the number one thing. Staff are what makes a good park , excellent! G O T A K O R
Definitely!
Glad your back there and it's sad they got rid of the orbiter ( vortex) and dragons nest (which is coming back maybe ) and the huss tri star (scorpion) but it's a nice edition for adding a tivoli extreme
Good vlog Shawn. I don't know why she got on time travel I knew she would say she feels sick
Vortex used to be over there (by tidal wave entrance) Not scorpion. Scorpion used to be where screature now is lol.
It was indeed!
Great Vlog as always Shawn and Charlotte
Hey Shawn, just been to Pettit's animal park their rides are really fun with loads of cool theming, as for great Yarmouth we had a great time lovely fish n chips at Christopher's cafe overlooking joyland unfortunately both fun parks were completely rammed with super long queue times even the car parks were completely rammed however we had pay by phone App how did you manage in the busy school holidays
It’s a great attraction! The parks do get really busy over summer!
Love this park been a few times now this year
I went there when I was little it's has great rides I love rage and green scream
Arghhhhhh Rage...wowzers lol
I love this park
