The mournful harmonies in this song put my heart in a stranglehold every time I hear it.
The Bass Gang has moved away from pure acapella and has been using some actual instruments. Peter said there were drums in this one, and possibly a synth.
The operatic bass from peter at 10:02 fits this song eerily well!
I believe Sam Waters was a cousin of Bobby Waters, aka Bobby Bass.
Bass genuinely just makes any song scary 😂. When it's a beautiful sounding song and you replace it all with bass, it turns horrifying 😂
One of the best sung sea shanty I've heard in a long time, great arrangement and I love the atmosphere and make-up.
Peter did the high note in this one. Honestly this and Yellow Flicker Beat is where he shines the most besides main guy in Gaston. Going deep, high, belting and showing off his opera background.
The high at the beginning and the drums are digital. You have most definitely heard them do non-acapella and they are open about that fact. Bones, Arabian Nights, If I Had A Heart, just to name a few, all have some synth or instrumental. Check the title if you aren’t sure, because it will say “A Cappella” if it is.
For me, Peters part always stands out to me in this. The transition from chest to chest fry as he goes down was seamless. Also every time I hear this I expect Marwan to do a bass drop at the end of his verse and it still never happens 😅
He actually went to F1 using subs xd
I believe Tomi & Peter both did the high parts if I'm hearing the voices correctly.

Wow, the Bass Gang never fail to surprise me. Maybe they shouldn't any more but...wow. This was haunting and terrifying and beautiful in a way I wouldn't expect from this song. (Also, side note, I loved the make up and the whole video looked so so good too! The things these guys can do with black and white videos is AMAZING!)
