    There isn't a separate part of the tank for reserve. The long "straw" going into the tank is for your main fuel intake. Once the gas level gets below that line, you switch to reserve and it pulls gas from the shorter white "straw". It has the filter on it because sediment is usually in the bottom of the tank where it is pulling gas from.

      Great info. Thanks so much for the thoughtful explanation.

    I was going to use thread tape but it probably wont matter. I guess I'll find out later. It's not high pressure and I've replaced sinks and toilets lol. Same thing basically

      You shouldn’t need tape. There’s a rubber o-ring in the middle of the connection.

    So wait you can just use the o ring? I always thought you had to put some type of sealer on an external thread like that

    • @KeepOnWrenching

      No sealant needed. I’ve never had a problem.

    I got a new one for my CB650C but with the filter on it's too tight to fit inside the hole. I'm sure I ordered the right petcock. I want to keep the filter, but I guess I can't use it.

      Parts quality is dropping for sure.

      @@KeepOnWrenching I ended up getting an inline filter for the fuel line.

    Do yourself a favour and fit the fuel balance hose up over the frame so it tucks in at the back underside of the tank. That way you won't have the future hassles of having to disconnect the balance pipe just to take the tank off. :)

    • @KeepOnWrenching
      @KeepOnWrenching  4 роки тому +1

      Saw your comment too late. Lol. Oh well. Easy to do when it will need to come off again inevitably. Thanks, Hepcat. That doesn’t mess anything up eh?

    • @HepcatHarley
      @HepcatHarley 4 роки тому +1

      @@KeepOnWrenching Only if you're running with the final dregs of fuel in the tank, you might splutter earlier because the balance pipe would be higher than under the frame but the benefits outweigh that small problem, especially when it's likely you'll be removing the tank quite often.

    • @KeepOnWrenching
      @KeepOnWrenching  4 роки тому +1

      Totally. Plus I keep the tank full. Worth doing but at least I featured the proper way first. :)
