I don't know why, but this one has been tougher to swallow than others. All of the bands he was in, all the words he wrote, all the music he made, it was unique and incredible in its own way. I feel like we're watching a breed of musicians dying off with no one in the industry to keep rock and roll alive as legends like Chris, Chuck Berry and Gregg Alllman have done. Nevertheless, wherever you are, keep rocking, legends never die RIP Chris Cornell

I grew up in the 90s and can’t get away from Chris, layne, and kirt. Addictive music that puts me in a good place.Nothing like drinking and listening to grunge.
This is probably my favorite song of all time. It does the one thing that's important for any song to do, and does it so very well. Theres not a person on the planet that can't connect to this song on a deep, emotional, even spiritual level. It just connects.. No matter who you are, what style of music you like, how old you are, where you come from, none of it matters. It's just such a distilled, musical, re-creation of the human experience. Life, Love, Friendship, Brotherhood, Loss, Hurt, everything it is to be human. Chris Cornell deserves much more notariety than even what he has... The guy was just such a beautiful singer and songwriter, such a creative genius. This song always resonated with me, but since his death, I can't even listen to it without crying. But I don't let that stop me lol.
For those wondering what this song is about, "Chris Cornell wrote "Say Hello 2 Heaven" as a tribute to his roommate, Mother Love Bone vocalist Andrew Wood, who at the time had recently died of a heroin overdose."
Rob o I remember listening to this over and over again. Such a sad and beautiful song, like "Reach down" which is also about Andy. This was a great and rejuvenating time of rock music. What happened?
I'm in complete shock right now. When I heard the news, that feeling went right through my heart. I really, really felt this one. I simply cannot describe how sad I am. Its gonna take a while to get over this one. He was my idol. 😢 RIP Chris Cornell.
I just was listening to this song with my best friend and ex lover, were both alcoholics and were very close. The last person I hung out with. We fought a lot. We loved a lot. He took his own life last week & idk how to handle it. We were just dancing to this song recently. I love you Chris. I’m sorry, I need to get sober. We both dealt with a lot of pain so I thought he’d relate to this but I never knew he’d be gone & leave me. Our last words weren’t so kind to eachother. It’s forever going to haunt me. Cornells best vocal in my opinion. You can hear the love and adoration for Andy. And in turn the pain in his voice from losing his brother. RIP Andrew Wood & Chris Cornell. Brothers in heaven.

Very sorry for your loss my friend. I'm sure by the end he was wanting to go. I mean that in all respect and I think you'll understand why I said it. This life is about pain with a few moments of pure bliss. God bless you.
Absolutely, he was ready to go about 3-4 years ago. The disease is literally a fate worse than death. It was horrendous and I was glad he moved on, because any additional minute would’ve been one too much. It’s no way to live.
You think I cried when I heard this song? Let me tell you this, it ain't nothing like the bucket of tears I shed to know it was composed by his friend who has gone on to join him way too soon.
Wow, I woke up shocked this morning, RIP Chris, you died way too young, thank you for blessing us with your incredible voice and talent, this one's for you
NARKISDUDE his music kept me alive through my suicidal stage. it feels so hard to accept that someone I looked up to through that time hurt like I did and couldn't find someone to help him
So many people say "I just wish they could've known how much they meant to everyone, or how much they were loved.... none of that matters when you look inside and see nothingness. It doesn't matter how others feel or what they say. I'm lucky enough to have made it through several of those "times" words can't explain how bad it hurts or the CERTAINTY that itwill be overif you just.....
Chris cornell could have never sung like this ever again in my opinion. You can't bottle that kind of raw emotion. It's so beautiful and powerful yet tragic and heartbroken. I doubt there was a dry eye in that studio. I'm here 30 years later and I still get tore up over this.
Chirs cornell had one of the greatest voices of my generation, and one of the best voices in the industry period his screams will be heard for many more generations to come
And to think... If we never got Chris Cornell, we'd never have Temple of the Dog, and if we never got Temple of the Dog, we'd never have Pearl Jam. If we never got Pearl Jam we'd never have Nirvana, and musical history would not have been made the way it was. One thing led to another all because of Chris Cornell writing a tribute song to a fallen friend. This is one of the most beautiful cause and effect scenarios I've ever thought of and every time I hear this song now I'm reminded of Chris Cornell's contribution to Rock music. RIP sir. You will be forever missed.
Saying "we'd never have Nirvana" is a drastic oversimplification because Nirvana came first as a band, But... here's my explanation. Cobain didn't like being lumped together with Pearl Jam on media outlets like MTV and this negative attention brought his own band into the spotlight right before the release of Nevermind. So what I mean by my original statement is that Nirvana's success is not due to Pearl Jam but more a result of the band bringing the grunge scene into the spotlight on MTV and other outlets instead of just an Indi-rock movement. (Nirvana's first album was indi while Nevermind was not.)
So complex yet simple at the same time.. Reading these lyrics just a week since his death is surreal and breathtaking.. Long live Chris Cornell, may you rest in peace brother 😢
How could anybody put a thumbs down on this incredibly passionate soulfully sung and Written song I mean what does it take for people to like something. I just think it's jealousy and this guy is the best rock vocalist to live to this date nobody has surpassed him nobody and yes I was an extremely big Queen fan and Freddie Mercury was phenomenal but I think he is way better then him

Your music was a great inspiration in my life
This song spoke to me so much when I was a teenager. I love this album.
I can't get tired of this song. So bummed when he died.
This song has a whole new meaning....RIP Chris Cornell. your talent + amazing voice will never be forgotten. Chris, "say hello to heaven".....💔
I ended my father's eulogy with, love you Dad and say hello to heaven.

@@cherylcarney2762 thank you for the kind words.
Good for you!
Amazing how much good music has come out of the Seattle area.
Chris cornell could have never sung like this ever again in my opinion. You can't bottle that kind of raw emotion. It's so beautiful and powerful yet tragic and heartbroken. I doubt there was a dry eye in that studio. I'm here 30 years later and I still get tore up over this.
R.I.P my love!! May you continue looking over our beautiful daughters!!❤️
It does but it still hurts. My thoughts are with you and your children
And he's saying hello to heaven right now. RIP
He in hell try again
That vocal range....epic R.I.P. ❤️🎸 Say hello to the peace in Heaven we'll never find on Earth 🎼🎶🕊️

You'll not be forgotten, Chris.

This song still gives me the goosebumps, even though i heard it 100's of times. RIP Chris
Thanks for the music and memories, Chris. RIP
Wolfhound wait how does nirvana depend on pearl jam?
And for the record, in my opinion it is Nirvana who made the musical history. Pearl Jam was great but Nirvana was the superior of the two bands, IMHO.
Wolfhound oh okay thank you for explaining!!!
So complex yet simple at the same time.. Reading these lyrics just a week since his death is surreal and breathtaking.. Long live Chris Cornell, may you rest in peace brother 😢
RIP Chris. When I heard this is the first song that came to mind.
I never get bored listening to Chris sing, it makes me want to sing along no matter how bad my mood is.
I got introduce to Soundgarden in 1990. First thing that grab me was Chris voice. Still to this day one of my top vocalist.
Love this Man..... tears.... damn.... I loved this beautiful soul.... there will never be another..... God Bless you Sweetheart!!! mm
How could anybody put a thumbs down on this incredibly passionate soulfully sung and Written song I mean what does it take for people to like something. I just think it's jealousy and this guy is the best rock vocalist to live to this date nobody has surpassed him nobody and yes I was an extremely big Queen fan and Freddie Mercury was phenomenal but I think he is way better then him
Whole new meaning - now that Chris is gone I can’t listen without shedding a few tears. RIP Chris Cornell, forever a legend. We love you ❤️🤘❤️
RIP Chris...Thanks for the memories... Bad day in Seattle : (
