Unfortunately, we all suffer in one way or another. Our suffering is an effect of sin and brokenness in our world so it’s not surprising that we feel the effects of Original Sin each day.
Today, Fr. Mike delves into the Sacrament of Reconciliation, where the Holy Spirit shows up to remind of us of our sin and restore our conviction that God is offering us His forgiveness. These are the twofold incredible miracles!

So true, Father. I sobbed my way through confession earlier this week. The priest hearing my confession gently helped lead me when I got stuck - and helped me put voice to my sin. Then he asked the Lord to rid me of oppressive spirits and heal me. I cannot begin to express how free I feel. I am so thankful for God's forgiveness and healing touch. Truly confession is a healing sacrament.

Slavery operated in the first civilizations (such as Sumer in Mesopotamia, which dates back as far as 3500 Before Common Era). Slavery features in the Mesopotamian Code of Hammurabi (c. 1860 BCE), which refers to it as an established institution. Slavery was widespread in the ancient world. (Today, Mesopotamia occupies modern Iraq)

Both Christians and Muslims captured and enslaved each other during centuries of warfare in the Mediterranean. Islamic slavery encompassed mainly Western and Central Asia
Many slave women raised their children without much assistance from males. Enslaved women were counted on not only to do their house and field work, but also to bear, nourish, and rear the children whom slaveholders sought to continually replenish their labor force. As house slaves, women were domestic servants: cooking, sewing, acting as maids, and rearing the planter's children. Later on they were used in many factories, instrumental in the development of the United States, where they were kept at lower maintenance costs

Life = is in whole body and in all body parts. The soul; Men made foolish thing.
Life is enjoyable, but they sadly delivered it, and mankind believes it, and mankind does not really try; Feeling we have 'Run out live like that’ emotionally. In doing so, mankind is supported to fulfill their selfishness and greed. Oops ...

This really is crazy that this video came out today because of what happened to me today. A year and a half ago I went from a lukewarm Christian aka Christian still a slave to sin to being truly born again after surrendering fully to Jesus with a heart of repentance (turned away from sin). Since then I strengthened my armor by spending time with God, frequently reading the Bible and spending much time in adoration and church. But these past couple weeks I was slacking. I wasn't doing any of that much. And soon came the thoughts and memories of sin and before I knew it I had sinned. I immediately returned to God and kept praying but I felt the presence of evil with me and the thought of being with evil and not God was tearing me apart. All the churches around me only do confession on Saturdays but I knew I couldn't wait. This morning I woke up at 7am and could not go back to sleep. I felt the presence of evil in my room. I prayed but I felt it was obvious what I had to do. The church I go to had mass about an hour after. I knew God wanted me to go and He would get the priest to give me confession and that's exactly what happened. I cried being in a room with imagery of the saints. Yes I had accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior again. Yes I had a repentant heart again. I had done what I needed to do to be saved but I still was not fully reconciled. There was damage to the relationship and evil crept in. Once I got confession the miracle that Father Mike said happened. What could have taken days, weeks or months to return to (where my relationship was with God), was quickly brought back by the sacrament. To feel there grace, it's impossible to not cry.

Someone is very unhappy you made the right call in converting. Expect the temptations, large and small, recognize each one for what it is and from where, and then you will have more strength as you say ' not on my watch'. Then a quick Jesus I Trust in You Will help you even more on the next temptation.

I believe God knew we needed the sacrament of confession. Sin is so great, so powerful when not taken care of. It holds us back. We are not free. Jesus hung on the cross for everyone, because you are right Fr. Mike, the default is brokenness. I was a Baptist, then converted to Catholicism. I appreciate the sacrament of confession, because it makes me stop in this busy world, this distracting world, this evil world. I get to think, examine my conscience and visit the confessional. I went through a period in my life as a young Catholic standing in line for confession, thinking what am I going to confess? I'm a good person, what am I doing wrong? I really had to search out my heart, I thought I knew so much. I actually thought about others sins and used them as a barometer for measuring myself. Then, the miracle you talked about Fr. Mike, happened to me. The holy spirit revealed to me my true self, my sinful self. I then began crying many, many tears for the things I have done, not realizing how I was. I realize how I have sinned and how much I didn't know. Today, I enter the confessional knowing God's love and mercy for me, knowing I need HIM. God continues to restore me with a little glue and gold dust each time I turn to HIM. I pray the sacrament of confession becomes a revealer of truth for all, so we can come closer to HIM. I pray that each time we come together as a people for mass, that we believe that it is Christ sacrificed on the altar, the true body and blood of Christ, which Jesus willing gave us. Jesus knew we needed this great sacrifice, He knew we needed confession. Let's all pray that we can embrace these miracles by speaking about confession to others and the great mercy it contains. Fr. Mike is doing his part, now let's do our part as lay people. Go to confession, then share with other people the unbelievable joy it contains that cannot be found anywhere else on Earth.

Hey, Father Mike. I've been watching your videos for about 4 years now. If you've already covered this and I can't find it in search then I'm sorry to ask for you to cover something you've already done. Is it the Catholic Church's belief that physical baptism is necessary for salvation? I've been struggling with this as it seems like a works based salvation which I've never felt comfortable with. A lot of Catholic practices often appear that way and I've defended against those accusations. But this point doesn't seem to have a clear cut answer. I've gotten mixed answers and wanted to know if you could shed some light

I struggled with this for the year and a half I had to wait to enter the Church (I was just fully received this past Sunday!!!) The best advice I was given is to pray the Act of Contrition, and to set up an appointment with a priest anyway and let them know you haven’t yet been fully received but would like to meet to talk about what is on your heart.
I was baptized in the Presbyterian Church though I had attended many different denominations throughout my life. Ultimately, whenever I knew I had too much sin, I fell into the lie that the enemy tempts us with to say, “what’s the point of even praying or reconciling with God or reading my Bible, I’m not good at making God proud.”
This is why learning about the Sacrament of Reconciliation was so beautiful to me. What a gift and a miracle to be able to be sure that as with confess our sins with a contrite heart, we walk out being absolved of it all as a saint-in-training. God can feel your contrition and your desire to be forgiven of your sin and he has already forgiven you if you confess them in prayer. But we can be that much more sure that in the sacrament of reconciliation that our perfect contrition absolves us of our sin through Christ’s name when we give a good sincere confession. I hope this helps!

    THE OATH AGAINST MODERNISM
To be sworn to by all clergy, pastors, confessors, preachers, religious superiors, and professors in philosophical-theological seminaries.
I . . . . firmly embrace and accept each and every definition that has been set forth and declared by the unerring teaching authority of the Church, especially those principal truths which are directly opposed to the errors of this day. And first of all, I profess that God, the origin and end of all things, can be known with certainty by the natural light of reason from the created world (see Rom. 1:19), that is, from the visible works of creation, as a cause from its effects, and that, therefore, his existence can also be demonstrated: Secondly, I accept and acknowledge the external proofs of revelation, that is, divine acts and especially miracles and prophecies as the surest signs of the divine origin of the Christian religion and I hold that these same proofs are well adapted to the understanding of all eras and all men, even of this time. Thirdly, I believe with equally firm faith that the Church, the guardian and teacher of the revealed word, was personally instituted by the real and historical Christ when he lived among us, and that the Church was built upon Peter, the prince of the apostolic hierarchy, and his successors for the duration of time. Fourthly, I sincerely hold that the doctrine of faith was handed down to us from the apostles through the orthodox Fathers in exactly the same meaning and always in the same purport. Therefore, I entirely reject the heretical’ misrepresentation that dogmas evolve and change from one meaning to another different from the one which the Church held previously. I also condemn every error according to which, in place of the divine deposit which has been given to the spouse of Christ to be carefully guarded by her, there is put a philosophical figment or product of a human conscience that has gradually been developed by human effort and will continue to develop indefinitely. Fifthly, I hold with certainty and sincerely confess that faith is not a blind sentiment of religion welling up from the depths of the subconscious under the impulse of the heart and the motion of a will trained to morality; but faith is a genuine assent of the intellect to truth received by hearing from an external source. By this assent, because of the authority of the supremely truthful God, we believe to be true that which has been revealed and attested to by a personal God, our Creator and Lord.
Furthermore, with due reverence, I submit and adhere with my whole heart to the condemnations, declarations, and all the prescripts contained in the encyclical Pascendi and in the decree Lamentabili, especially those concerning what is known as the history of dogmas. I also reject the error of those who say that the faith held by the Church can contradict history, and that Catholic dogmas, in the sense in which they are now understood, are irreconcilable with a more realistic view of the origins of the Christian religion. I also condemn and reject the opinion of those who say that a well-educated Christian assumes a dual personality-that of a believer and at the same time of a historian, as if it were permissible for a historian to hold things that contradict the faith of the believer, or to establish premises which, provided there be no direct denial of dogmas, would lead to the conclusion that dogmas are either false or doubtful. Likewise, I reject that method of judging and interpreting Sacred Scripture which, departing from the tradition of the Church, the analogy of faith, and the norms of the Apostolic See, embraces the misrepresentations of the rationalists and with no prudence or restraint adopts textual criticism as the one and supreme norm. Furthermore, I reject the opinion of those who hold that a professor lecturing or writing on a historico-theological subject should first put aside any preconceived opinion about the supernatural origin of Catholic tradition or about the divine promise of help to preserve all revealed truth forever; and that they should then interpret the writings of each of the Fathers solely by scientific principles, excluding all sacred authority, and with the same liberty of judgment that is common in the investigation of all ordinary historical documents.
Finally, I declare that I am completely opposed to the error of the modernists who hold that there is nothing divine in sacred tradition; or what is far worse, say that there is, but in a pantheistic sense, with the result that there would remain nothing but this plain simple fact-one to be put on a par with the ordinary facts of history-the fact, namely, that a group of men by their own labor, skill, and talent have continued through subsequent ages a school begun by Christ and his apostles. I firmly hold, then, and shall hold to my dying breath the belief of the Fathers in the charism of truth, which certainly is, was, and always will be in the succession of the episcopacy from the apostles. The purpose of this is, then, not that dogma may be tailored according to what seems better and more suited to the culture of each age; rather, that the absolute and immutable truth preached by the apostles from the beginning may never be believed to be different, may never be understood in any other way.
I promise that I shall keep all these articles faithfully, entirely, and sincerely, and guard them inviolate, in no way deviating from them in teaching or in any way in word or in writing. Thus I promise, this I swear, so help me God. . .

Incredibly, miraculously enough I do know what that was about.
Anyways, I figure you might like this one...
if you take the acronymal parts of Tanakh and translate them, you get:
    Ta = chamber, guardroom
Na = I (we) pray now, pls or to beg, implore
Kh = courtyard, thread, or tailor
It reminds me of a confessional.
Sometimes I just want to scream out loud instead of silently. I actually went out into the desert once and did that. It felt like the 'roar'; the first utterance of Elohim (the dieties) and like I was breaking things in a sweeping wave of energy that was rooted in the fabric of my loins. I didn't like that feeling. I didn't like feeling the power of destruction and knowing that it came from my being, from my fabric. Maybe this is why Genesis 1 is hitting me so hard. What if all this world is was honestly born from the abyss of darkness and wickedness which Gen 1 indicates? Is it because I haven't incorporated and rectified this aspect of myself yet? But, how could I? Darkness and evil are too very different things. Evil shouldn't be "incorporated" (Jungian). Yet, are they two different things? Genesis 1 isnt seeming to differentiate:l
So, are unrestrained, sweeping forces of destruction not evil? I suppose not. To call a hurricane evil would be non-sensicle. But, then..., the careless treatment of the earth which gives rise to extreme weather events, can even that be called evil? Not really. It's obtuse carelessness and definitive negligence, but it's not really "evil", per se, I guess. What then is sin if God Himself exacted our existence from that void? If, light itself is birthed from it? The "bearer of light" is a fallen angel for the love of all that's good, I mean, "What's THAT about"?! Smh.
For real though..., what is that about?
I guess I'll cut it off here cause I'm still angry and barely talking to you, Cookie;i

Hi Father Mike, I have a question. How do I discern if my prayers are being answered by God or Satan. I mean when we get desperate for something, that's all we want and our prayers are all about getting what we want. We also tend to manipulate our minds into thinking that what we want is also what God wants. This is a serious problem. Because, Satan knows how desperate we are, he is capable of answering our prayers and make it seem like its from God.

Jesus is truly in the confessional. The more I go, the more I feel His presence.
One day I was in the confession line begging God to help me to make a good confession because I so desire to become a Saint but fail daily.
At the end of my confession the priest spoke to me a minute and then said…”you have to do these things if you want to become a saint.” Needless to say I cried.

I read once that forgiveness after we confess sins is so great and more powerful than the energy after an atomic explosion. Maybe that is why we might be facing WWIII atomic war because man has lost the awareness of their sins and do not go to confession and that energy needs to be released one way or the other.

Yes, I breaks my heart that some people are in despair. I have met people who will admit that they have sinned yet feel so guilty that they believe they cannot be forgiven. Unfortunately most of these people are war veterans
