Bayern's MO has always been to weaken their immediate opposition. Last season, they finished behind Leverkusen and Stuttgart, so they signed a CB from each of those clubs to weaken them. Which means they need to offload one already at the club. De Ligt gets most value for money, cause Eric Dier is shit, KMJ just joined last season and is decent and Upamecano would fetch less than De Ligt and probably also a lesser burden than De Ligt in terms of wages.
