Imagine how many of shredders you have saved from death at the Recycling Centre!
Great fix.
Hello Lukasz,
I just fixed my shredder in a few minutes after watching this. Thank you so much. My magnet was intact, but had been ejected from the shaft. The paper sticker was torn, but had caught it.
My best wishes to you and your family. What great people you Polish people are.
Thanks for the Comment, Richard!
Mine too had been ejected and paper torn
Excellent video - No unnecessary music or chat - Just the job.
Thank you
Exactly what you need in a UA-cam video. Thanks for the comment!
Yea, thanks Lukasz.
In the earlier days of UA-cam this "filler" became so common that it was an internet joke to "always just skip the first third" of these kind of videos, to get to the solution. Yes, "the weather may be lovely in your beautiful part of the world, look at these views... etc". Errr, how do I fix it!
@@dandan7897 “Before we get into the video, here’s some unnecessary information that nobody asked for!”
Thank you so much ! My started cutting out last autumn and I was at a loss as to why... Magnet replaced ( blades sharpened ) and the bad boy is back in business!!!🎉
Lukasz, you're a superhero. Loose magnet. Thanks
Mine came loose after 5 mins of running today. You saved the day
What a wonderful tip - took about 15 mins fiddling with screws but only 2 mins re the magnet replacement. Brilliant tip and of course it saved me a packet. My best wishes and many thanks sir !
Thanks for this great instructional video Lukasz , today I fixed this problem with my machine. I would never have found the solution without your input. The magnet on my machine was intact but had slipped to the bottom of the shaft. Early symptoms were that the machine stopped for no apparent reason intermittently. Eventually after three weeks storage, it would not run at all, apart from the initial run up to speed, and then failing. Good job mate. Regards from New Zealand
Thanks Lukasz, I was going to replace the brushes until I saw your video. You have saved me from a failure
Hi, I am glad that my video was helpful.
UA-cam at its best. Just another grateful viewer of this video. I can't thank you enough for saving me hours of struggling and hundreds of euros.
Thanks a lot! I had the same problem, that the motor stopped again immediately after starting. In my case, the magnetic ring was not broken but moved outwards. After I pushed it back towards the motor, the unit worked again. Thank you for your video!
Thank you Lukasz for your careful step-by-step explanation. I had ordered a replacement and so was able to extract broken magnet and replace with new brass core version on splined shaft. Just a bit of a fiddle getting the six screws positioned to replace the shield plate.
Hi Lukasz Wojciechowski. I have exactly the same issue. Thanks for solving it for me.
Thank you so much Lucasz I had this problem and your video saved me the cost of a new Shredder.
In 2024 parts are easy to get and are in stock in the UK.
👍👍👍👍
Thankyou Your video saved my machine from landfill.
Thanks to Lukasz for a great video. One other issue I had with my ATX 2200 shredder was that the motor overheated and stopped but would not then restart. I took off the front panel (the one with the red start/stop switch) and found the problem was with a small black microswitch that was operated when the red start/stop switch was rotated. It had simply got stuck with the moving part of the microswitch not springing in and out as the red switch rotated. A quick clean with a brush and the moving part was springing in and out as normal. I think the problem was that small shredding bits had got inside over time. Take a few minutes to clean out the interior to stop the same 'clogging' process happening anytime soon, and brush off the black foam air filter at the bottom of the panel to ensure the motor gets good cooling. All back together, worked first time and I've just powered through the pile of shredding that had been building up. Hope it works for you too!
Thank you so much for your video. None of the 'experts' on the forums came up with this solution despite it being a common problem. Well done - you are a star! My only issue (and I say this to help anyone else who experiences it) is that I could not lift the motor out from the front, so had to take the back off and use a multi-tool to cut through the plastic grid covering the back of the motor to access the magnet. I just glued the grid back on afterwards.
Great instructions. My magnet wasn’t broken, but I went ahead and replaced it with a new one anyway. To do this, I had to unscrew the red plastic cover cap so that I could get access. With much difficulty, and some WD40, I managed to release the old magnet and replace it with the new one. I didn’t expect it to work, but it did. Phew! Thanks very much for your instruction, Lukasz.
Thanks for the video I have just repaired my machine with a new magnet. Saved me buying a new machine
Thanks for great video on dismantling this shredder. I had the same symptoms but magnet intact and in place. I did did though thanks to the video. Unlike your shiny looking fly wheel my shredder was caked in filth and various debris. I think cleaning that out did the job, but i only did that due to your video 😊
You have given me good information on what to do my shredder stopped working today .thankyou .
Thanks SO much for this fixit! I would have guessed it to be a failed run capacitor. On my machine, the magnet turned out to be merely loose. Tappy tap, back in action. Until it breaks. Bravo!
Back here again a year later April 2022 and I managed to find two new spare magnets from various sources but before they arrived I glued the old fragments back together with super glue and then glued it to the shaft - and to my surprise it ran perfectly for another season of shredding. It finally failed today so I have returned here to review the replacement method and in a week or so I'll be stripping it down and replacing with the real deal again thanks to this excellent well explained and demonstrated video. I'm so pleased it's still up here on UA-cam.
Glad I could help, and i'm not deleting this video anytime soon :)
Thanks so much for this very informative video, this saved my shredder from the tip. The magnetic wasn't even broken just needed new sticky tape.
Great job, I had a similar problem, and I removed the whole red control board and bridged it out.
Brilliant video, perfect explanation. Magnet not available from Bosch but found one on eBay. My shredder now works again :)
Excellent! You should be running the bloody country ...
Thanks Lukasz! Very helpful. Great that you took the time and trouble to post this.
Really impressive command of the English language, talking about a subject with difficult vocabulary.
Thanks for the comment :)
hey there, thank you a million times, without you, I probably would have just gotten a new one, but thanks to your video, I could fix my Bosch. the magnet was just out of place on my Bosch ... thank you once again !!! great , cheers from Germany !! x sas
This absolutely works. Lucky for me my magnet was only lose and not broken. Saved the day as I had an absolute mountain of shredding to do.
Thanks so much.
No problem, Im glad my video helped :)
Got part today, fixed it! You are a star!
Thank you for the comment! :)
Thanks for this. Followed you instructions to the letter, apart from I tapped the new magnet a bit firmly and cracked it... strangely it still seems to be working! Thanks again
Thank you. I just had to push the magnet back in place and nos the shredder works again.👍🤗
Thanks for a very clear and informative video. I fixed my one in about 20 mins. The magnet wasn't broken but had come off the shaft. Tapped it back on and put some superglue on it to hopefully hold it better. Just make sure you get the cable back as they were and the aluminium guard top lugs engaged before fitting the screws. All working now. Many thanks again! 🙂
Thanks Lukasz for this video, there was no way I could have worked out how to fix my shredder without it, the magnet had just come loose and needed to be secured back into place - your instructions were very clear.
Thanks for the comment!
I had a similar problem, but the magnet hadn’t broken, just worked its way off the shaft. Still fitted the new one as it is a better fit. Thank you for this, it saved me a lot of money 😁
Thank you very much for this video. A lot of people said it was the carbon brushes but this makes perfect sense. I will give this a try tomorrow .
Very helpful none the less
You are a genius Lukasz. I was within minutes of throwing mine away having seached the internet and been convinced that it was the carbon brushes. They are unobtainable anywhere. I just gave the internet one last go and found your video. Good luck mate.
Good to see that my video helped :)
Hi Lukazs your a gentleman👍👍🍻buy that man a 🍻 beer you saved me a lot of money and trouble. Spot on, I would never have looked at the magnet👍👍good man🍻
Excellent video Lukasz, my magnet had just fallen off and after fixing it back on the chipper is working again. Thanks for taking the time to post your video
Thank you so much... My Magnet also drilled a hole in the tape and fell out.... New tape on it... Runs like a new one! Greetings from Vienna Austria
Great tip. Bosch original part cost me £6 on ebay. Simple to fit you drift it in with a socket as suggested.
Lucky my magnet just needed pushing back in. Thanks for the advice. 👍
Super informative video - saved us buying a new shredder or paying £125 for Bosch to mend it! All for £6.49!! Thank you!
Glad it helped
Thank you Lukasz! As many others mentioned - my mom’s shredder had a loose magnet. Fixed it within 20 minutes with your guide! :)
Seems like a lot of people's magnets have not broken but just come loose. Glad my video helped :)
Thanks Lukasz. My magnet had just come loose (not broken) so just had to push it back on. Thanks from Australia!
Seems like a lot of people's magnets have not broken but just come loose. Glad my video helped :)
Thank you very much Lukasz, you've saved my shredder (and many others looking at the comments). As per some of the other comments, my magnet wasn't broken but had just slipped off the end of the shaft. I pushed it back on following your advice with a small socket. It's a bit of a crap design if you ask me and will most likely fail again. Being Bosch, maybe it's the same thinking with their washing machines, designed to fail. It wouldn't be good for business to have equipment lasting for more than 3-4 years would it.... :)
Excellent work! Saved me many hours of troubleshooting. Thank you so much.
Thank you andrew!
Lukasz, thank you so much for posting this. I had exactly the same problem, and when I checked the magnet has split into three pieces. It took a while to find a new one and get it delivered, but all now working perfectly again. Thanks again, John
John Meads Hi! I hope my video helped! I also put a link in the description of this video of where you can buy the magnet
Did the job, thanks. Had to order a new mgnet from Bosch Germany which took about 2 weeks. Replaces, scewed together and VROOM
Glad your shredder works!
Great video. Clear and easy to understand, thanks.
Thank you for this video Lukasz - I had the same problem, but for me the magnet was the newer type and was okay. A bit of spray lubricant allowed it to move freely - end of problem. I wouldn’t have known where to start without it, thanks again !
Thanks A LOT ! for myself and for the planet also, from France.
A big Thanks Lukasz , great video ,
Worked brilliantly. Just the magnet had come loose and fallen off
Thanks a million, I thought it was related to the switches but you were exactly correct.
great video, very helpful. I had the same issue with my Bosch shredder.
Brilliantly helpful video which saved me having to buy a new shredder. My magnet wasn’t broken, but had worn so much that it was square shaped inside, so dropped off the circular shaft it was attached to. I had to persevere when pulling out the engine, rather than unscrewing all screws, which was not necessary -Lukasz was correct. The engine is only held with four screws, but needs a lot of persuasion to pull away from the main housing, when it is unscrewed. I used the smallest socket set tube to tap in the new magnet. Thank you so much for your help Lukasz!
Happy to help :)
Mine was exactly the same. Squared off in the centre. I replaced but it was still the same.
Great fix! Just about to try it now. Thanks
Brilliant! Fixed the mother in laws shredder in under an hour! Thank you!
Thanks for the comment!
Absolutely amazing! I thought I'd try this and found that the magnet on my machine was completely intact. I replaced it with the one you suggested instead and hey presto, my shredder is fixed! Thank you so much.
Hmm, completley intact…. Thanks For the comment.
Nice helping for me. Thanks!
Thanks Lukasz, I just needed to push my magnet back in and now works fine
Seems like a lot of people's magnets have not broken but just come loose. Glad my video helped :)
Thank you for making this video. I have just bought one of these machines & have not yet used it. I hope I never have this problem but at least I am aware thanks to you. Kind regards 👍
The shredder itself is very good. Thanks for the comment!
Excellent advice - had 1st assumed it was wear on the white plastic cams, stillcut out, then the switches, on replacement still cut out! Saw your vdeo and comment below re-superglue and it now works (will look for replacement magnet for when superglue no doubt fails!). Many thanks - wish had spotted your video earlier! Mike d'A
Well done, it works !! Thank you !!
Thank you very much. At least I now know why my shredder stopped working. It behaves exactly like yours before you fixed it. Update: My magnet was also loose. I tapped it back in. I also removed the metal disk to give easier access to the screws. But it needs to be put back on to use as a handle to pull the motor out.
Thanks clear accurate explanation fixed no problem
Wow, thanks so very much for this information!
Danke für das Video. Hat mir sehr gut geholfen, ich habe den Fehler in kürzester Zeit behoben.
Great video! Thats very helpful thank you!
Legend!!! Thank you so much ♥️
Thank you so much dude mine had slipped off, tapped in and superglued
Thank you. You have helped me repair mine.
Im glad my video helped :)
Great, thanks a lot Lukasz!
First 1 broke.. and they send me a new one.. after a year the second stopped working... after watching your video I fixed the 2 with a loose magnet ..2 for the price of one .. thanks
Super Video.Danke! ❤
well done mate, love your hammer, tape measure 😂 But I guess it got the job done 👍 Thanks for sharing.
First comment is wow how very well presented this video is. I've stripped my shredder down and found exactly this magnet fault (broken into 3) Sadly from your links on ebay the 1/22 part number is greyed out and not in stock. In fact nobody seems to have one. Maybe there's been a run on them during covid. I've done a lash-up like a few other clever ones here and (superglue to the rescue) glued the 3 bits together and re assembled and the machine is running - but I would guess it won't stay in one piece for long. What we need is a supplier who has got the magnets or can soon have them back in stock. I've searched for hours. But thank you for this great video - so useful to so many people.
Hi! I have put a link to get one in the video description!
Lukasz, thank you so much for posting this. My shredder had the same symptoms 2 days ago so I searched UA-cam and found your video. When I got to the circular magnet at the base of the motor it hadn't broken but had just slipped off. A couple of gentle taps with a hammer (good technique to use a socket, by the way) and it was all fixed. The only thing I did differently was to remove the blade and blade holder to access the four screws holding the motor housing as this gave easier access. I refitted just the blade to get some leverage to pull off the housing. Thank you again.
Roger Farley: Your Wellcome! Glad that my video helped!
thanks I need to get at the motor you have showed me how😊
I hope your shredder would be damaged again for my next repair :) you made a great guide and you solve my problem.
very useful, many thanks.
My AXT has just started doing the same thing. I remember watching your video ages ago and thinking “this might come in handy”. Will take a look at it this weekend. Wish me luck!
Hi, if your shredder has the same symptoms then my video is a solution. Glad that I can help.
I just checked. Mine has the new bearing design and is fully intact, seated properly on the shaft still. It’s definitely the same cut out symptom. We had a lot of rain here recently. Maybe the motor got wet and it’s shutting off. Will spray with WD40 and leave it to dry in the sun for a bit.
Good news - it was just the micro switch that needed changing. Another shredder saved from landfill!!
Thx to you and this video, you saved me about 200 Euro's :-) for a stupid magnet. It wasn't broken, but had to be tapped in place again.
UPS - just saw the link now, sorry. Still many thanks for a very helpfull video🙏
As good as new. Thank you
Great stuff.
Thanks a lot you solve my problem
Lukasz is a shredder saint! Like others, I'd given up and was going to give it away but who'd want it if it didnt work? In my case, I dismantled it, as the video showed, and found that the magnet wasn't actually broken but had just come loose. There's no screw to prevent this so it had burst through the white plastic tape which Lukasz removed. It seems to be a major design flaw on the part of Bosch. I pushed it in hard, kept my fingers crossed, and it now works OK again. It's already been sent back to Bosch once under warranty with this problem so they've replace the magnet but not ensured it wouldn't come loos again.
A small point to others: pay attention to which screws need removing as four of them (the black ones) secure the motor housing only. It's the other ones that need to be removed so that the entire motor, in its housing, can come out in one piece. Otherwise, you'll end up, like me, with having to reassemble the motor, a small bit of extra hassle.
Thanks to Lukasz's video, I now understand why it failed and what to do if/when it happens again.
Thank you For the comment, you made my day 😂
Great video thank you 👍
Excellent.Did the trick.Spot on. Uber Alles !
Thanks Mate 4 your advise!!Maybe an alternative solution should be to fit around the (still solid not broken)magnet,a zinked iron ring, just like these who struggle the watering hoses on the tap!!
Just take the wright measure of the magnet's perimeter and hug it gentle with this cutting piece of iron!!Greetings from Greece
Hello Lukasz.
Thanks very much for your video. I got my shredder running again. There was dirt between the magnet and the housing.
Greetings from Holland.
Great! Im happy you got your shredder running again!
Thank you!
Great job finding that fault. Like every great engineer or craftsman.... You had to hammer in the solution
Same problem here - magnet in two pieces. someone suggested superglue - this may be a temporary repair so I try to order a new magnet but for now, glued and refitted magnet and the shredder works again. Also would have taken me ages to find the hidden two screws under the blade as that whole area was covered in caked on green gunge. many thanks !
Hello Lukasz, very good Video which helped me in fixing a Problem one my Axt rapid 2200. In my Case the Magnet was Not broken but IT was located at the end of the shaft and could be mooved ca.5mm on the shaft to the INSIDE. My Axt 2200 had already the Magnet with Metal Ring. Put all Back in and machine worked again. After 1 hours Work i Made a Brake and machine stoped again. Same fault Magnet stiked to the White tape at the end of the shaft. Knowing that the Position of the Magnet caused the fault i now hit It with a Tool Like shown in your Video. So machine works again and will see how long the it keeps running. Thanks and best regards from Germany Jürgen
Will try this thanks very much
Tried this magnet was intact, the little silver disc under the safety switch had moved slightly causing the power not to connect properly
@@christineyeo162 Glad I could help you!
thank you!!!
I pray this motor has some kind of electronic water protection too. I switched mine on, but too much water was inside the motor, I could see some water dripping out of the motor afterwards. But I switched the motor on previously and nothing happened, even the fuse in the house didn't came, so I will try to dry the motor and hope for the best. Damn, these circuit board is exactly there where most water could reach, I bought this shredder as a used part a month ago or so and only used it one time after I didn't manage to cover him 100% to safe him from water😪 100 EUR down the river my stomach said. Next problem is pulling out the motor, I have to drill some holes into the screws because they are stuck even spraying with WD-40. No nice start for my "new" shredder but it is as it is.
