I'll be back in a few days(hopefully) with heaps of footage from my *CARGO SHIP ADVENTURE!* Make sure you have clicked the little bell notification button next to the subscribe button so you know when I'm back. Wish me luck! Did you see my last video? I was super happy with how it came out, watch that here: ua-cam.com/video/_ylWLB2aNXk/v-deo.html Peace! ✌️☮️🚢
I'm from Kazakhstan. It was nice having you there. Almaty is actually the best city to live in KZ. Astana is not developed yet as you said yourself. In regards to English: around 20% of the youth will be able to interact with you and less than 5% of the grown ups know English since they were brought up in USSR and English wasn't really taught there. 2-3% of population actually speaks English to some degree. But regardless, people here are nice, friendly and welcoming. It's not a joke, Kazakhstan might be one of the friendliest countries in that regard. There are over 130 nationalities in this country who all live in piece with each other. You also mentioned that we get a lot of money from oil and that's partially true. Corruption is very high here and most of the money goes to Astana. The salary here isn't high, averaging at around 300 USD in "non-Astana and non-Almaty", where the average citizens live. The living expenses are high and salary isn't much so it is difficul to actually live here. But it is very good to travel here as a European. Everything is affordable. And most kazakh people hate Borat movie and it's actually banned in this country. I am kazakh and I don't really care since that was a humor and there is no need to be offended by it. It may be true in some ways. A lot of things here are done to "look good" for outsiders like you. If you look into how people actually live you won't see rich and fancy stuff. You just saw yourself your building in Aktau. Pretty old building with some graffiti and most of it clearly needs reinovation. If you have any question, I can answer them if I can. I can also translate stuff from Russian if you still need it. Too bad I saw your video after you left!
I once took the ferry from Chennai to the Andaman islands. It took 2 1/2 days. The boat was in pretty bad shape, bathrooms were disgusting, the food was horrible. But it was only $30, you got your own bunk, there were other foreigners on the boat and they put us all in the same section. So you had people to talk to, I made some friends and then a group of us stuck together once we got to the Andamans and had a great time together. I bet your experience will be a bit different, probably won't be many other foreign travelers on your boat to talk to! So did you already do the boat ride?
Ur the most welcome in Kazakhstan anytime 🙂 feels great to hear such a positive feedback from foreigner, makes me feel proud though 😁 you will be amazed by hospitality of our people especially in Almaty, such an amazing city. We call it “soul” of Kazakhstan
Hi!!! Next time visit Almaty! You can observe beautiful mountains and canyon and many other nice places there. Thank you for warm words about Kazakhstan! Good luck and see you again in Almaty one day!)
Hi, Nick! I really enjoyed watching your vlog about Kazakhstan! It's so exciting and it feels so proud hearing a a guy from New Zealand saying positive about our motherland, who truly believes in the future of our futuristic capital city. I'm from Astana and I've just discovered your vlog. We do need tourists just like you. In case you decide to come back here it'll be my duty to help you here. But I see you're already doing good. Indeed, local citizens are truly happy to see tourists around. Greetings from Astana!
I live in Atyrau, Kazakhstan and have been to Aktau a few times. That is so cool that you found the ferry to Azerbaijan because I've never been able to locate it! I once took a train from atyrau to aktau. That was quite an experience.
Oh God ! Nick,it was amazing thank you so much for showing Kazakhstan btw I'm from Kazakhstan XD I would never thought that Aktau is such a lovely place. I am definitely going to move there. Just imagine sun, beach, sea and trips to Azerbaijan every week. I wish you all the best and goodbye P.s I was sort of sad before finding your channel . You and your videos have cheered me up . Now thanks to you I have a dream
My brother-in-law did a semester of his MBA in Ulaanbaatar, and he loved it to the point where he moved part of his business' operations there. In the utterly remote case you're looking for inspiration, Mongolia could be it, or even Uzbekistan :D . Keep up the terrific work mate!
Have u already been in Almaty city? At least not worst then Astana, but most probably better(my personal opinion). I think tourists trying to avoid Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan little-known country because we have a lot of problems with English and adaptation all the services for the tourists. Very often you can not find the menu in restaurants in English, except Astana and Almaty, food in stores in Kazakh and Russian only etc. Thanks for coming in!
Thank you so much, Nick! I appreciate your impressions and words about my country💌 Hope you'll come back to visit Kazakhstan again sooner ;) I definitely subscribed! Really curious to know what's next :D Good luck🍀, greetings from Kazakhstan, Astana🇰🇿
Beautiful sunset! Yours is the third message I’ve gotten with “go with the flow” and not be in resistance to what is, while also just going for it in life! Good message, bro! You have a safe journey and I can’t wait a few days from now to see what happens! Peace! ✌🏼👍🏼😊💜
Welcome to Kazakhstan! You should definitely visit Almaty! There’s a lot of amazing and mind blowing places like Big Almaty Lake, Charyn canyon, Kaindy and Kolsay lakes, Altyn-Emel national park and many others. Here you can meet more English speaking people and find interesting places to visit, also you can go to the mountains and maybe climb some peak)
Since you got the drone, try shooting a video where you fly backwards with the drone (shoot in 4K) and in editing you zoom in in a way that the speed of the drone matches the zoom in speed, it gives a really nice effect on the perspective. You can try it with a phone, but drones give a much more beautiful effect since it’s stabilized.
Wow, I’m looking forward to seeing the ship. You’re really in the deep end of the pool on this adventure! I’m wondering how you even found out about this! Anyway, bon voyage!
Ooh man that just reminded me of where I came from .. I live in New York for more than 27 years now .. originally from Turkmenistan Ashgabat .. actually a Jew myself .. great people .. He basically said .. to like your vid and how his country is the place to visit ! Great work brother !
Thank you for going to Azerbaijan. I fell in love with the nature and architecture after watching the movie ali and nino .... hope to see what it really looks like.... Have a safe trip to Baku 😃😃
By the way, Aktau means White Mountain. Ak- white, tau - mountain. If you travel to Aktau by train you can see hills that are white because of the salt i guess. .
$80 does seem a lot to travelling a distance you can fly in 45 minutes. However Irana did well, it will be unique, interesting and memorable, hopefully for this right reasons. I`m pretty sure you wont just get a seat, but a basic cabin and all your meals, you might even dine with the crew. Nick, try not to break another door handle on a ship, haha, enjoy it mate.
Don't think I've ever been this early on one of your videos before hahah. It's passed 2am in Australia, I should be asleep 😂 Good luck on the crossing man, sounds really interesting! And 30-80 hours, what a random timeframe?!
you will like Baku, city scenes you might not have expected from very old to last century to modern ... come back and tell me I was right :)) by the way... hidden gem... you should see Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand in Uzbekistan are you planning to continue there from Azerbaijan... you are already in Central Asia don't miss out
