Yeah. Unless Sonic is behind him, Silver kind of struggles to go anywhere on his own. I always struggle to get to downed teammates as Silver. The barrier only really works if Sonic is behind you, the orb doesn’t stun Sonic long enough to let you make any meaningful progress towards a hypothetical teammate, and the speed boost isn’t meaningful enough to really help, at least on its own.
