As a turkish person I should correct some of them and add some little details I think.
3. Don't drink tap water rule is not for every province. Tap water is safe in most of the provinces but you are right for istanbul and ankara
10. Stray animals are everywhere and people take care of them really well. You probably saw a lot of obese cats or dogs. And government vacinnate them regularly. Dogs have somethings on their ears for vaccines.
14. Apple tea is just a tourist thing. Turkish people generally don't drink apple tea at all.
20. We don't call hookah or shisha. It's nargile in turkish. Yeah it's common but it wasn't this much common 10 years ago. After syrians came it became much more popular.
22. Hamam is a tourist activity also. It's too traditional for turkish people.
23. Most of that honks are not friendly 😂 It means hi when we honk to people we know but when we honk to stranger, it means "get out of my way"
30. 2016 was worst year ever for turkey. There were a lot of terror attacks and coup attemt. Security is stricted after 2016. And we haven't experienced a suicide bomb attack for afew years thanks to strict security efforts
34. Actually wearing hijab is more common compare to usa but way less common compare to other middle eastern countries.
48. All 81 provinces have natural gas covarage in their city center, stoves are only option for rural people.
56. I can't say we are super friendly to refugees but I can't say that we hate them also. At least all social servises are free for refugees. Crime rate became higher because of refugees but We are mad at western countries more about refugee crise. They love giving lessons about it but they all become like a nazi when they see a few hundred refugees in their country.
And you are right there is some un supported programs that sexual minority people from other middle eastern countries can get asylum in turkey.
62. Dating is little different in turkey. Casual dating is not so welcomed here.We tell our parents about our relationship when it became really serious only. At that point our parents meet with our bf/gf and they expect us to marry near future, like in a few years.
66. Divorce rate is lower than us and europe but higher than other middle eastern countries.
82. Doner is not kebab. Kebab serve in plate with a lot of side dishes.
87. We write random letters when we want to write hahaha. Like asdfghjk jkgjkbbkkj cvbggyeigvs. You can write any letter you want.
92. It's actually not that common in non-touristy areas
97. Age and statue is so important in our culture. We can't call our parents or older siblings by only their names for example.
98. I've never seen it but I just googled yeah there is some parties for that kind of stuffs. Generally only close family and friend are invited for it

@A A I think both. Cat persons care cats, dog persons care dogs more😂 more people have cats in their home compare to dogs. I'm not sure but I think there are more people taking care of stray cats compare to stray dogs also but I don't think it's so related to islamic culture. People think petting a cat easier than petting dog.
@A A I don't know the channel but I'm curious now😂 I wrote "not so related to islam" because dog number is not so less than cat number. There isn't so big gap. Dogs are not clean in islamic culture but most of the people caring, petting, touching or playing stray or pet dogs here. But still some people may want to stay away from dogs or cats because of their preference. I would respect that opinion also.

Cheers Tristan for another great video. Reminds me of a trip I took a couple of years ago visiting friends from countries you have visited recently. One day I was on a beach in Antayla, Turkey and it was extremely common to see women wearing head to toe swimsuit. Literally the next day I was in Hvar, Croatia on another beach and so many women were topless. Lots of love from Melbourne.

1:08 actually this is not totally true. Yes there are some clubs you cant enter without girl but you can enter alone to %90 percentage of clubs.

Ice cream: it's made differently with the addition of an orchid root which stops it melting. If in a bowl, it's served with a knife to cut it!
Beards: besides being worn for fashion, a Muslim man who ga3s been on the Haj (pilgrimage) grows a beard to show this, thus it's a su3gn of being religious.
Holding hands: just as you noticed girls whoi are friends holding hands, I'm pretty sure this hapoens with guys too, not because they're gay.
Family size: It might be more in the country areas, but in Istanbul (where I lived for 5 years) many families had only 1 child, or 2 spread apart by maybe 8 years. I guess it's because of economics.
Polite names: a Turk of similar age to you will be direct in asking your age because the younger one will call the older one abi ( big brother) or abla (big sister). This shows both respect and affection. If talking to someone obviously older, you say amca (uncle, pronounced amja) or teyze (auntie).
When talking to or about a man in a less personal relationship, you wiuld say their first name folliwed by Bey, eg Ali Bey (sort of Sir Ali).

Prostitution is legal in lots of places......in Western Australia prostitution is legal in regulated brothels and there are policing units dedicated to the protection of sex workers, even technically not legal street workers.......its legal and regulated and sex workers pay their taxes just like everyone else. Making sex work illegal simply makes it more dangerous for everyone.

@@irmmrm7250 Anatolia is a peninsula in the Middle East or at least that how educated Americans (also other Westerners?) consider it. They use to call the area the Near East. Obviously these terms (dealing with just direction like West or East - be it Middle, Near or Far) are ethnocentric & thus wouldn’t be universally accepted. While most of modern-day Turkey is the Anatolian Peninsula, Turkey also has additional lands including part of the Balkan Peninsula.
