I love my PlayStation Portal. I love my PlayStation 5. I only want to play games on my PlayStation 5. No Bluetooth…Don’t care. I plug in my Bose headphones and the sounds is amazing. I play wherever there is strong wifi (home, cottage, work). No lag issues. I can also play using personal hotspot and no lag. This device is amazing.
@@DKN808 it is buddy lol. Just say you’re broke… it’s an amazing device… the backbone you have to pay to play… the portal is technically a vita . Does it suck that you have to be connected to WiFi ? Yes but a lot of free WiFi now a days is actually not bad. For me I don’t travel on the road long or fly “all the time” so it does not bug me. I use the portal in my own home more than I do outside lol…
@Skulldude567….yeah I’m broke dude… that’s why I use a iPhone 15 Pro Max w/Backbone controller when I PS Remote to my PS5 travelling. Where you use a $200 controller that you can’t travel with because it has no web browser to connect to wifi at hotels etc…. 😂

I am also a dad and I play my PS5 mostly on remote play. I would say after using the Steam Deck with Chiaki and the Razer Kishi V2 on my phone the Portal I got is way better and more convenient for remote play on PS5. I got a Bluetooth adapter for the 3.5 mm jack and it works good. After more time with the adapter I do notice there is a slight delay in audio but it's only noticible during a cutscene and it's not bad at all.
Sony needs to add a browser to the dashboard of the Portal. I understand they don't want to turn this into a tablet, but to make a streaming device, designed to be used anywhere you have connectivity - like a hotel or resort - you can only access wifi via browser.
That's true. But I can also see that being an entry point for exploits of the OS. That's not a bad thing (for people that want to use exploits), but I can understand why Sony doesn't want a browser there.
@@baldlyrudyThat is ture, probably be spotty traveling about 500 miles. I have bought the oled model for the family already, also have the oled psp vita for back up(charging down time). Would be awesome if the ps-portal had offline play of retro game similar to nintendo switch. The Playstation Portal would be more versatile and appealing to its audience, than just online only use device.
@Michael-zn9rn yeah. Agreed. Its funny that this is a streaming only device and it has Airplane Mode. I'm hoping someone can figure out how to side load stuff onto this thing. I think it's only a matter of time.
I'm in a hotel right now 9 hours away. 1. For kids, laptop over everything. 2. For me, I have my switch and steam deck. 3. Played my Portal all last weekend, I love grinding Mortal kombat 1 when I'm in the kitchen. Everything thing has its place.
Currently riding with my phone + Gamesir G8 Galileo to play PC and PS4 games. I'm just glad remote gaming options exist for persons like us that is busy on life/work but still love gaming.
I have one and love mine! Definitely understand and did my research before pre ordering. I honestly think the screen is good for what it is but good lord I wish it had been an OLED as I got spoiled playing on my LG C1. Not bad when I’m playing away from the TV I guess my eyes get used to it but I made the mistake of playing a game side by side with each other and god was it night and day difference, the blacks were so washed out and grey and the colors were super dull compared to the OLED, naturally of course. But I would’ve even paid $250 if the screen would’ve been upgraded. Still an absolute great device and hopefully they can perfect this device in the future with a gen 2

Probably. But I'd go more for the Chiaki on Steam Deck vs PS Portal route. Might throw in PC for good measure. I've been interested in figuring out how to properly test the latency on it. Just need to find the time after work. 😅
@baldlyrudy thanks for replying. That would be interesting for sure. I'm in two minds about the portal. I don't have a steam deck so the results may help me decide if I should spend more to get that and still be able to use PS5 remote play and have a similar experience or not.

Man why is everyone super caught up over Bluetooth headphones most of them are terrible in the Grand scheme of things when it comes to all out sound quality the best headphones still have wires ill stick to using better dynamic dt1770 32ohm cans absolutely destroys any bt headphone and if i wanna get crazy run this portal through my dac amp and then feed that to my Audeze LCD2's also Audeze easily makes the edt gaming headset for those that don't know the Maxwell freaking amazing
For remote play ill stick to my tablet and the standard PS5 controller for now, no OLED, no youtube and other media and no bluetooth headphones kill it for me.

Since your video came out Sony has Patched it twice , it’s gotten better every time, Sony will get it right and in a few more weeks , all will be forgotten, Sony will get it right. And I’m. A working family man Gamer Dad, wonderful devices like the Portal , Steam Deck make it easier to get my Gaming fix, I don’t plunk myself in front of my 85” , inch TV, don’t get me wrong, I love gaming on the TV too 😂
Bluetooth messes with connection because it uses 2.4ghz bands (like when your iPad acts a lil funny when using AirPods) that’s mostly why they never used it
I actually would use this I game at my desk in my bedroom and when I get home from work I don’t want to sit I want to lay down and the screen is too far away to play and also I’d have to lay on my side. I was thinking last month how nice it would be to play on a tablet in bed but with the ps5 controller.
You'll have a great time with it as long as you have a solid network connection. I tested it out on Thanksgiving at my parents house to see how it would perform in an older WiFi network, and was pleasantly surprised. It dropped a frame or two at first, but then it smoothed out. Good times!
So I did not know that it had a headphone jack! I guess I have been so used to phones getting rid of them that I just completely overlooked it. That changes the perception of this thing for me in a big way. That was the number one thing I was against was the lack of bluetooth for other branded headphones. I always go wired anyway with my handheld devices. This is why you watch Baldy Rudy my mans is DETAILED.
The touchpad is double click for stpd reason and you can't chnage it in the settings. That's why it sucks. Once you get used to it to always double tap (for clicking the touchpad) or double tap and hold (for Holding the touchpad)
@@sieghart132 I haven't had any issues other then the first transmitter I bought no being very loud, so bought another one with volume rockers and that fixed the issue.

Not unless you have ridiculously good cell service. I'd recommend a Switch/Switch Lite at that point.

can I connect portal and ps5 without a tv?
Technically no. You're going to need a TV or monitor to do the initial set up.
Once that's done, you won't need the TV/monitor to connect and play.

Xbox doesn't have Bluetooth for what device?
Long story short, you need extra hardware to use Bluetooth headphones on an Xbox. The console itself doesn't support it straight out of the box.
