Black Jacks are not liquorice, they are aniseed flavoured sweets.
There is slight similarity, but are pretty different overall (I can't stand liquorice, but love aniseed).
“Licorice” in America is actually red and has a completely different flavor than “black licorice” which is flavored like Star anise! In case that was confusing haha

Carrie Drayton I m from the uk and you are wrong try liquorice then you will taste the difference between them and black jacks . Black jacks are 100 per cent not liquorice they are they are Aniseed flavoured chewy sweets . Liquorice has a different taste and texture too Aniseed . They don’t taste the same or look the same . I ate black jacks sweets as a child so I know . Everyone from the uk knows this .

'Tuck Shop', my god, I imagined that no longer existed. I was in Junior and Senior school up until the late 80's and loved the tuck shop, we even had sausage sandwiches at our tuck shop back then... ahh the memories.
