I don't understand why so many people are commenting that this song makes them feel more sad about being single. I'm single too but I think the video is beautiful about love in general. It doesn't have to be a romantic partner, it could be your parents, your siblings, your friends, humanity in general.
It does help that he married an actual model lol No seriously, I can understand why artists generally don't include their spouses. Some people prefer to keep their relationships private because so much of their life is already so public. I also think it can kind of help a video to have unknown actors portraying "generic lovers". I think viewers can more easily relate to the story being told and picture their own relationships that way, rather than the song seeming to just belong to that artist and their spouse, ya know? Like, I personally feel this was a song John wrote for Chrissy and I don't quite feel the personal connection to it, like I might with another. It almost feels intrusive to relate it to myself, like I'm encroaching on someone else's intimate moment. And of course, there's the obvious reason: divorce. No one goes into a marriage anticipating a divorce, but realistically, you have to acknowledge the possibility. This song is so sad. When I listen to this song, every time, it reminds me of the very last time when I saw my Grandad. The last time I saw him, his last words were, "I promise I'll see you again." - Because he was in hospital. I was worried that he'd die a few days later, that's why I was screaming down the hallways of the hospital when I had to go back home with my dad and sister (parents broke up) because I wanted to stay with him. I remember shouting out, "Grandad! I want to stay with you!!", but I had to go back home. A few days later, my dad got a phone call. And trust me. It wasn't good news... Honestly, I am crying while typing this because it means so much to me. All I can tell you is when my dad got the phone call, my grandad died in front of him in hospital. I guess I didn't see him, but I hope does come back when I might see him in heaven.

This song is so sad. When I listen to this song, every time, it reminds me of the very last time when I saw my Grandad. The last time I saw him, his last words were, "I promise I'll see you again." - Because he was in hospital. I was worried that he'd die a few days later, that's why I was screaming down the hallways of the hospital when I had to go back home with my dad and sister (parents broke up) because I wanted to stay with him. I remember shouting out, "Grandad! I want to stay with you!!", but I had to go back home.
A few days later, my dad got a phone call. And trust me. It wasn't good news...
Honestly, I am crying while typing this because it means so much to me. All I can tell you is when my dad got the phone call, my grandad died in front of him in hospital. I guess I didn't see him, but I hope does come back when I might see him in heaven.
