My brother died last month from cancer. It was a hard time for my family. He gave up with chemo because he wasn't enjoying the time he had left, and that was more important to him than prolonging his agony. He was a good man and brother, and he'll be missed. A few weeks before he died, my mom tearfully asked him if he had any requests for when he passed on. He said he had just one. He didn't want music to be played during the service. Only during the lowering of the coffin lid. He gave my mom a CD, and made her promise not to play it until when she asked. He made me promise too. The funeral was very emotional, I still feel awful thinking about it. My mom brought a small portable CD player to play his chosen song as the coffin lid started to lower and we all tearfully gathered round. She clicked play. And on came this song.
This takes me back to my 8th birthday, 1996. My Mum and Nan got me the Gameboy, Tetris and Super Mario Land. Actually my neighbour is called Gerd but I guess he is not YAHGERD.
My brother died last month from cancer. It was a hard time for my family. He gave up with chemo because he wasn't enjoying the time he had left, and that was more important to him than prolonging his agony. He was a good man and brother, and he'll be missed.
A few weeks before he died, my mom tearfully asked him if he had any requests for when he passed on. He said he had just one. He didn't want music to be played during the service. Only during the lowering of the coffin lid.
He gave my mom a CD, and made her promise not to play it until when she asked. He made me promise too.
The funeral was very emotional, I still feel awful thinking about it. My mom brought a small portable CD player to play his chosen song as the coffin lid started to lower and we all tearfully gathered round.
She clicked play. And on came this song.
That is the most epic thing ever

This takes me back to my 8th birthday, 1996. My Mum and Nan got me the Gameboy, Tetris and Super Mario Land. But I was at my Nans on the morning of my birthday, as my Nans sister, her daughters and granddaughter were arriving that morning, about 6am, on a flight from Germany and getting to Sydney International was easier from her place in Ashfield than from where I lived in Hornsby. My Nan didnt drive so her brother drove over with his wife to pick us up. Took the Gameboy and Tetris in my pocket to play at the airport whild we waited for the family to come through customs.
I enjoyed the game as a boredom buster over the years, but was never really hooked enough to get through all levels. Sold this at a garage sale at my place in Hornsby in 2013, trying to declutter as much as possible before moving to Blacktown. Havent thought about the game since then and the nostalgia that goes with it, until just now watching Young Sheldon on Netflix and he gets excited about packing a suitcase ("just like Tetris") and the theme music played. The music hit me like 50 tons of nostalgic shit, and I was straight on here to find the tune in its entirety
