- Midjourney Tutorial - Chaos Parameter
- works in v5.1 and older versions of Midjourney
Step-by-step walkthrough of what happens when you incrementally add more and more chaos into your prompts.
The default chaos is zero, and you don't need to specify it in the prompt.
The max value is 100.
The higher the chaos value, the more unusual and unexpected the results.
Lower value = more reliable results.
I'm using an aspect ratio of 16:9 in this video, but you can choose whatever --ar you'd like.
Base prompt:
close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9
With chaos added:
close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9 --c [add your value]
e.g.
close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9 --c 25
With style raw and chaos:
close-up shot, mushroom, fractal --ar 16:9 --style raw --c 50
Additional test with this prompt:
singularity, macro photography, white and orange --ar 16:9 --c 80
- I changed the chaos incrementally from 0 to 100
If you have any questions, let me know in the comments, and I'll answer to the best to my abilities.

We can most Def see the differences and just so truly insane we can all (paying members) create this level of incredible imagery and in just minutes!!
Indeed. I'm in awe daily.
Very informative video! It's Everett here :D
YES! ❤
This is super cool. Thank you for the info. Would like to see more video like this one when we can compare images using different ratios of specific paramether. Thank you
Important topic. Thanks for posting.
Great video as always and beautiful generations 😍
🙏Thank you.
Thank you for another great video!
Very helpful, thank you🙏🏻
You are very welcome.
excellent!!
Hi...first I want to thank you for this excellent video, the images you generated are really beautiful, they have left me with my mouth open ;) I will experiment with this technique. I would like to ask you why you used Raw style? what is the reason and forgive my ignorance since I am new to this :) thanks again for this great contribution.

I used raw style just to test if I saw any difference from the default style. Sometimes raw gives better results. Raw is less "opinionated," aka raw. 🙂In this case, there wasn't a big enough noticeable difference, in my opinion. But depending on what I want to achieve, I may prefer the default or the raw, so I like to run both just to check which one I like better.
