Love how McNulty calls Santangelo an asshole when he asks him to cover for him, not knowing that Santangelo is literally doing everything he can to save McNulty's ass.
@@seanylewl Almost everyone on that show thinks McNulty is an asshole. Probably the only one foolish enough to go along completely with McNulty's bullshit at some point is, ironically, Lester, who's all up tight because the force screwed over MCU. Think about all the different people who think McNulty is an asshole: Rawls; Landsman; Bunk; Daniels; more. All of these people are different, but they see how McNulty is motivated excessively by egotism and willing to exploit or put others at risk to get his way. Now, is he also motivated by a concept of justice? Yes, because the writers were good and they understand the complexity of human motivations. But he's also definitely just a huge prick who looks down on others excessively, cheats on his women, does things purely out of spite, and literally fakes a serial killer, which is absolutely deplorable! I see the good things he does from time to time, but he is just so abrasive and obnoxious I'm amazed more people don't dislike him strongly.
Santy has such a great arc. We intitially think he’s going to be a slimy rat but he ends up risking his career to protect Jimmy, who he doesn’t even seem to like much (at the beginning of season 1 anyway).
