Land issues have burdened Temagami for more than a century; but it wasn’t until the early 1970’s that the environmental movement to save old-growth forests and roadless wilderness became one of Canada’s premier battlegrounds.
The green movement in Temagami evolved at the same time Greenpeace did on the west coast. Whenever the subject of environmental activism, civil disobedience or blockades comes up, Temagami tops the list.
Wilson has been with the movement in Ontario since 1972, during the fight to save Maple Mountain from exploitation, to co-founding Earthroots.
