I'm an Eastern Orthodox Christian, but I have a deep love for the Holy Coptic Church and her ancient liturgy. I pray for all my Coptic brethren, and especially for the reunification of our two Orthodox Churches. May the Lord grant us this through the prayers of the Theotokos! And thank you for this wonderful explanation of the Divine Liturgy. It's very informative.

Sorry but if you’re Easter Orthodox, you can’t call the Coptic Church for Holy. According to Eastern Orthodoxy, the Orientals are heretical. That’s what your church teaches today and that’s what the greatest eastern church fathers have said through the millenniums

    Adoration
Never forget to adore. That is the most beautiful form of prayer. It includes all others.
If you adore, it implies that trust in Me and love for Me without which all supplication fails to achieve its object. It implies thanksgiving, because adoration is born of repeated thanksgiving.
    It also implies contrition.
Who could adore Me with a Joy-filled adoration, and not be conscious of unworthiness and of My forgiveness and blessing? Adoration is Love-filled reverence.

I pray daily for the Oriental and Eastern Orthodox to once more be One in Christ as Christ is One in the Father.
I'm a Roman Catholic, and I am working my hardest to reform the Roman Church from the inside - I want to see the Filioque dropped from the Creed, leavened bread to be used for Eucharist, a married Roman priesthood, the doctrines of Papal primacy and supremacy, purgatory, indulgences, and Immaculate Conception all clarified and restated in a manner acceptable to the Orthodox. Then I want to see our Liturgy reformed to be more traditional.
I believe if all the reforms I work toward and pray for were implemented, then the Orthodox would re enter full communion with us Roman Catholics.
Pray for it, my brothers and sisters. And pray for me.

    • @jesusacuna309
      @jesusacuna309 5 років тому +3

Nope. No leavened bread, not for the Roman Rite. We have always used unleavened bread, as our Lord did. The same way that unleavened bread meant Israel broke away from Egypt, our use of unleavened bread symbolizes a break from sin, and from the old covenant, being now the new covenant with our Lord Jesus Christ as our paschal lamb. I do believe restoring married priests could be helpful, but not right now, today is not the day for that.

I am a recent convert to Eastern Orthodoxy and I have asked my priest as well as other priests online why Eastern Orthodoxy and Oriental Orthodoxy should be divided. No one can give a good explanation for that, and in fact everyone I talk to (clergy and laity both) thinks we should be reunited. But people say it has been too long. I can see that there are many details of the liturgy that are different, but we should be able to live with that. If we began (on both sides) to PRAY for reunification, God could bring it about.

It is Jesus prayer as well. But I'm afraid there are too many, in all the various churches who are stubborn and proud. They say "MY way is the only way" and not 'let us treat one another as followers of Jesus, and where two or more are gathered in his name there will He be". Our common beliefs in the creeds should be enough. All else are variations in liturgy or church governance which are inessentials. If it is blessed by scripture and the undivided early councils, then only pride and exclusivity (which some believers psyche needs unfortunately so they can shout "one true church" to the exclusion of others) keep us apart.

Let's answer Dubble Dubble, as his comments show true intolerance, and no love in heart that is supposedly Christian.
The Coptic Orthodox Church is the first (hierarchical) Church in the Middle East, and now the last Church in the Middle East. What is left in the other countries of the Middle East are vestiges of other churches, and unfortunately, are fading to zero. The Coptic Orthodox Patriarch maintains the only true and distinct lineage and succession from St. Mark the Apostle (the Founder of the Church in Egypt).
Here are some thoughts to Dubble Dubble's terrible and incorrect remarks.
The Coptic Orthodox Church--fully, absolutely, distinctly, deliberately--condemns Monophytism, Duophysitism, Eutychianism, and also Nestorianism.
The Coptic Orthodox Church espouses the ONE UNITED NATURE pronounced by St. Cyril the Great, Pope of Alexandria, Presiding Bishop at the Third and Last Ecumenical Council of Ephesus, in which, you guessed it he deposed Nestorius, Patriarch of Constantinople as a heretic. Now if we accept that term, and St. Cyril is common as a Father and Doctor of the Church for the East and West, then anyone who goes against that definition is a heretic. Are you calling St. Cyril a heretic?
The Coptic Orthodox Church espouses the ONE UNITED NATURE as Miaphysites--NOT Monophysites. As St. Cyril wrote that His Humanity was united to His Divinity mystically. 'After the Incarnation, one cannot speak of Two Christs but ONE CHRIST in ONE UNITED NATURE. There is no ambiguity in what St. Cyril wrote, but naturally the Greeks after they were made to look foolish and heretical at Ephesus, took up allegiance with the Romans to resurrect a heretical terminology and try to polish it so it seems Orthodox.
95% of what is handed down as Orthodox and Apostolic Christianity came from Egypt in the form of the Coptic Orthodox Church; not the Greek Church, not the Roman Church, and not any other Church, or the internet.
Lets make a list of those achievements, because they did not come from: Athens, Rome, Constantinople, Moscow, New York, or the Internet:
    1. Prophesy: 'Out of Egypt I have called my Son.'
    2. Prophesy from the Old Testament: 'And there shall be an altar for the Lord in the Land of Egypt.'
    3. Prophesy from the Old Testament: 'Blessed be my People Egypt.'
    4. The Lord Jesus Christ, Himself, consecrated the first Christian Altar in Egypt, in His plight with the Holy Family from the wrath of Herod.
    5. The writer of the First Gospel: St. Mark
    6. Where was the Last Supper: At the House of St. Mark in Jerusalem
    7. Who founded the Coptic Orthodox Church: St. Mark
    8. Writer of the First Eucharistic Liturgy: St. Mark, why? Because he was the witness to the First Eucharist that was in his house.
    9. First organized hierarchical church: Coptic Orthodox Church.
    10. First to bear the title Pope: the Bishops of Alexandria in the 2nd Century.
    11. First Catechetical School: the School of Alexandria
    12. The Presiding Bishops at the Three and Only Ecumenical Councils: Coptics
    13. Writer of the Nicene Creed: St. Athanasius at a tender 18 years old, and as a deacon
    14. The strongest defender against Arianism at Nicea--St. Athanasius (I don't recall any Greeks or Byzantines who did)
    15. As a side note: The Roman Bishops did not even attend the Three Ecumenical Councils. Guess what they relied on the Coptics to take care of matters.
    16. Who defended against Nestorius?, you guessed it: St. Cyril the Great (a Coptic)
    17. Who deposed Nestorius? Answer: St. Cyril the Great
    18. The founder of Monasticism: St. Anthony the Great ( A Coptic), father to ALL Monastic orders in the world.
    19. Compilers of the Bible, in both forms: the Septuagint and the Deuterocanonical--the Coptics.
Lets look at the Greek/Byzantine presence in Egypt:
    1. How did they come into Egypt? by armies and murder.
    2. Funny: the greatest number of murder of Coptic Christians did not come at the hand of the pagans or the Muslims, but by the Byzantine Bishops.
    3. Who delivered Alexandria to the Muslims, and with it the loss of the Library of Alexandria and most of the world's knowledge, Cyrus--the Byzantine Bishop.
    4. How did the Byzantines maintain rule in Egypt? by armies.
    5. Funny: how many families follow the Greek Patriarch in Alexandria--maybe 500
    6. Funny: When the Ecumenical Patriarch came to Egypt to visit his partner earlier this year, they couldn't find 100 people to be in the church.
    7. Funny: The Ecumenical Patriarch also only has 500 families under his jurisdiction.
    8. Funny: The Greek Orthodox Patriarch does not use any Coptic, espouse any of the people of Egypt, does not respect any aspects of their culture, speaks Greek, uses Greek, and flies a Greek flag over his churches in Egypt.
    9. He has 10 priests that rotate to churches because he does not want the Egyptian Government to realize that the churches are empty and they should be closed. I witnessed it myself in Shoubra when a greek priest came to a small church with a deacon and three people to make believe that there are services at the church near my aunt's house.
    10. The churches that were taken from us over the centuries are being returned one by one, guess why? because the Greek Patriarch of Alexandria has no one following him.
    11. Did I mention that the Greek Orthodox Patriarch in Alexandria could not exist if it were not from donations being funneled from North America and Greece.
    12. Did I mention that the Ecumenical Patriarch could not exist in Constantinople if it were not from donations being funneled from North America and Greece.
    13. Did I mention that the Moscow Patriarch ignores the Ecumenical Patriarch and refused to attend "the Pan-Orthodox" Meeting.
Come on, Dubble Dubble, get real!
The Greeks use terms like Monophysite to try to rally people against the Coptic Church, Why? because the Byzantines haven't done anything in 2000 years. Their only cause is for the return of the Byzantine Empire. They couldn't care less who Jesus Christ is.
The Ecumenical Patriarch, when he enters a church, is received by Imperial chants since he is the keeper of the Empire until another emperor is crowned.
Here's a Little SECRET: The BYZANTINE EMPIRE is NOT COMING BACK.
The Coptic Orthodox Church has led by example, and motherhood, not by Imperialism.
Protestantism did not come into being as a refutation of Orthodoxy but a refutation of Roman Imperialism and debauchery.
Give it up dude. You are trying to make a cause for a bad situation. If you want to find a heretic, go look in a mirror.
The Coptic Orthodox Church is growing around the world faster than any other Orthodox church. The fact that we have these videos is because we are trying to meet the needs of educating our people and nurturing their spiritualism.
You will find something unique about Coptic Orthodox Churches in North America, Europe, Africa, and the Diaspora, that you won't find in Greek Churches: THEY ARE FILLED! Our people fast, they pray, and participate in the Liturgies. They are a proud people of their Christ!
I will remind you: WE ARE THE LAST REMAINING CHURCH IN THE MIDDLE EAST.

    • @cheery5699

I forgot to mention: The Greek Orthodox Patriarch in Alexandria is not even Egyptian, and doesn't live in Egypt except for some weeks in the year. So much for being a father to his flock. He doesn't have any monasteries in Egypt. And amazingly, they use pictures on his website of Coptic Orthodox Churches and monasteries to try to confuse and mislead that there is a thriving Greek Community in Egypt.
Remember, and I'm being generous: NOT EVEN 500 FAMILIES UNDER HIS CARE.

The Syrian Orthodox Church still remains in the Middle East too. The Indian Orthodox Church (Malankra) came from the Syrian church. Which is why they also speak some Syriac during the liturgy.

Faith like a child does not mean naivety and the bearings of bad faith. It means a strong faith in which God is your father. Remember that Christ said “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them (Mark 10:13-16).

@@moveinsilencegs5136 Heresy is a real thing - they are lies (small or big) that change how we see God or each other. Sometimes they are obvious like if Christ was God (which directly impacts if his death could save us), sometimes more subtle like if our works earn us anything. But I think the lie in this case involves trying to divide the church of God.
As St. Paul instructed TImothy "... command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work-which is by faith. The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm."
This kind of talk is not new to the church, it existed from the beginning through the work of the enemy of good. I think in our times we often pack our bags and leave our current situation too quickly, expecting the next to be better, while we should be lights where we are, or try to seek the light only Jesus can bring.

    • @moveinsilencegs5136

      Job is an Eastern Orthodox. The Coptic Orthodox Church is one of the Oriental Orthodox churches, which includes the Syriac, Armenian, Ethiopian and Eritrean Orthodox churches, who broke communion with the Eastern Orthodox/Catholic Church (which itself broke in half centuries later in 1054). We have therefore 4 groups of apostolic christians with strained relationships to one another;
The 24 Catholic churches (the Roman church is just one jurisdiction) in communion with the bishop of Rome, the Eastern Orthodox Church (which is currently going through some complications of its own), the Oriental Orthodox Church, and the Assyrian Church of the East. The Assyrian Church was the very first church to split from mainstream Christianity, but in recent years they have entered dialogue with the Catholic church, and we currently have an imperfect communion with them, and it'll probably be completely regularized in our lifetime.

    Deuteronomy 5:8-10
    English Standard Version
8 “‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 9 You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but showing steadfast love to thousands[a] of those who love me and keep my commandments.
    Deuteronomy 4:28
    English Standard Version
28 And there you will serve gods of wood and stone, the work of human hands, that neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
    Psalm 115:4-8
    English Standard Version
4 Their idols are silver and gold,
    the work of human hands.
    5 They have mouths, but do not speak;
    eyes, but do not see.
    6 They have ears, but do not hear;
    noses, but do not smell.
    7 They have hands, but do not feel;
    feet, but do not walk;
and they do not make a sound in their throat.
    8 Those who make them become like them;
so do all who trust in them.

Second Peter, 2:22 - But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Proverbs, 26:11 - As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
12 - Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
Revelation, 22:15 - For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
    --- --- ---
As you can see! This is how Jesus calls and see you, just like Peter or a very wise man Solomon.
Please return from all this, because you stay far far away from reality and this pleasure costs you wary much !

I am Greek. In which way are we jealous? The city of Alexandria is founded by Greeks. Half of the liturgy here is Greek for you non Greek speakers. New Testament including its last book 📖 was written in Greek and in Greece 🇬🇷. Some of the first followers of Christ in Jerusalem were Greek. The words Christian, Bible, Eucharist, Orthodox, Church are all Greek words in case you haven’t figured that out yet; so please explain how we Greeks being Orthodox ourselves are jealous? Let me know if you want me to go on and on.

Who said that. Yes we do believe the bread will turn into the body of Christ and the wine will turn into the blood of Jesus
