John Harrell hosted a press conference on Monday afternoon with new details about the ambush that killed one deputy and injured two others. Officials said they've arrested a suspect, shared an update on the injured deputies in the hospital, and revealed what happened during the ambush late Friday night.

No one needs to "stockpile" firearms. No one. If you (anyone reading this) believe the collapse of government and society is imminent and the world is going to hell in a handbasket and you need to prepare for that doomsday scenario (hence the label "doomsday prepper"), then put your time and money towards preventing that doomsday from ever occurring. Run for local office. Get involved with politics. Do something! Don't hide in your house spending literal decades of your life hoarding guns and ammo and preparing for such an event but doing absolutely nothing to actually try and prevent it. A good start is to not vote for people who want to overturn democracy. If you want to storm the capitol and overturn an election then you're part of the "doomsday" problem, not the solution. I have to say that because there is a significant overlap between preppers and supporters of insurrection, and that has to be the most braindead combination of ideologies that I can even imagine.
Prepping is reactive. Be proactive. Don't live in fear. Yes, I said it. Anyone who hoards more than a few firearms for personal use is living in fear and there's no trying to deny it. Instead of living in fear then do something to stop the thing that scares you- peacefully.
It's also funny how I never hear preppers say anything to the effect of "boy i sure hope I never have to use this rifle to take another life." The truth is, most can't wait to live out their action movie fantasies and take another life. No one buys a wholly impractical number of firearms with the hopes of never using them against another human being.
I know all this because I used to be a 2A supporter. I used to be a card carrying member of the NRA. I used to socialize with and befriend a lot of people who could be labeled "gun nuts." I'm not speaking as "some liberal who has no idea what they're talking about." Believe it or not, some people went through the last 20 years on earth and had a negative reaction to the rising numbers of mass shootings. My response was to stop supporting the 2nd amendment as it is currently written (emphasis on "as it is currently written").I didn't want to include this paragraph but I had to because the first reply anyone ever has to my comments on this subject are "I bet you've never even owned a gun!" That couldn't be further from the truth.
Again, where's the body cam. You can't trust the police story. Again, where's the body cam.

The top 4 GDP states are Cali, Texas, New York, and Florida. Of those 4, only 2 had a growth of over 5 percent, and 2 had growth under 2.2%. This gets so much better, really. Of these 4, 2 of them had a cost of living and lifestyle in the top ranks, and the other 2, well, they were very high up the list for life sucks awards. Hang in there, kids. I'm almost done. Of those 4, only 1 had crazy low violent crime rates. Bet by now, you guessed it. Also, doubt that, but it's Florida----a. Texas has 430 per 1k and New York beat Texas by 2 at 429 per 1k and a little more on that in a bit. California comes in on top for the best state to have life taken from you at 500 per 1k. As Florida Man and I do lots of stupid shix, you can ask my wife, and she'll verify it. I have to tell you that at 250 per 1k, you'll be safe here as long as you stay away from the Dem run areas, which continue to be voted out. So, of all the positives I pointed out above. The 2 that offer affordability, lower cost of living by a lot lot, actually had real growth are red states Florida and Texas. Also, you're safer in both of them (Florida way more) and back to the Texas crime rate issue that certain blue people that aren't from Texas opened borders up there, causing hell. Voting has consequences and cleary being a red state is better... No, we don't marry our sisters down here. 2nd cousins only if they get the test done.

This is a tragic event. But why is it necessary to mention that they were prepped with MREs and survival gear when they live in a hurricane zone and as far as the firearms go, this is a constitutional carry state like it or not. Now if they were felons, well we all know the criminals aren’t going to pay attention to laws. I come from law enforcement family, so I understand what the friends and families of these law enforcement officers are going through, but let’s not fog it up with a bunch of political narrative. If you live in Florida and you don’t have at least a month or two of supplies on hand, you’re just foolish.

Show us the bodycams. We want to see the door that was supposedly previously kicked in by some unknown person who wasn't shot when they did it. We want to hear the "commotion." How is that a legal reason to tell someone to come out and then go into their house after them? Not taking sides just want to know relevant facts, not b.s. and silly stories about their foods or reading materials.
I’m sure it will come out at some point. But I think they were in the process of doing a child welfare check. After seeing people inside the house, no answer at door or phone, and things that could be suspicious they of course want to now make sure to complete the child welfare check. Otherwise why not answer the door? Even more suspicious. Child Safety should always come first. It’s easy to condemn them when a child abuse incident happens and condemn them when they try making sure something like that isn’t happening when things just don’t seem right. And apparently they were not.

Ive seen enough on YT to know better than accepting whatever their spokespeople claim publicly. The truth is often far different and even the opposite. Wait they got warrant after enrty. If they would've gotten a warrant before entry the deputy would probably still be alive. A tragic waste of life because of ego and not following the law. They should immediately release the body cam footage.
How would a warrant have prevented the guy from shooting deputies when they enter his home? It's a piece of paper, numbnuts, not a bulletproof shield. Furthermore, they had legal grounds to enter the home after discovering two dead dogs in the front yard and hearing what sounded like gunfire. I recommend that you educate yourself about warrantless entry before running your mouth.
The warrant is to arrest the female who led the officers into the ambush, did you even listen past 10 seconds before writing this comment? Hopefully you're never stuck in a situation where armed burglars break into your house and hold you hostage, things might get awkward if the officers wait for an arrest warrant to come save you.

I’m a former Lake County resident of 27 years (Clermont/Groveland area). Moved to Volusia County in 2021 (Ormond Beach) but will always consider Lake County home (albeit we lived in south Lake County). This is absolutely heartbreaking and when our law enforcement officers lose their lives doing their jobs, we ALL suffer a loss. Prayers for God’s comfort and support to the families and loved ones of the victims, as I can only imagine that they’re going through unimaginable grief.
