  • Inokashira Park is one of the most famous waterside cherry blossom viewing spots in Tokyo. 200 cherry trees surround the pond. The opposite bank of the pond is also nearby, and the scenery of the cherry blossoms in the foreground and the cherry blossoms on the opposite bank overlap is beautiful.
In 1590, the Kanda Josui Water Supply System, which supplied water to the city of Edo (old name of Tokyo), was drawn from Inokashira-ike Pond, and since then it has been protected along with the imperial forest for water source cultivation. After the Meiji Restoration, it became an imperial forest in 1889, and in 1917, as Tokyo's population increased, it was opened to the public as a suburban park. In 1944, 15,000 cedars planted around the water reservoir were cut down to be used as coffins for the war dead in Tokyo. After the war, cherry trees were planted in place of cedars, creating the current landscape.
Because it is close to the station and adjacent to a large downtown area with many restaurants, it attracts a large number of people, and on weekends and evenings during the cherry blossom season, it becomes a banquet mecca along with Ueno Park.
One take like actually taking a walk.
