5 yesterday. 5 again today. Only one earlier in the Spring. One last year. I know why we are on a roll. It's because I put down a small piece of plywood under it. A flat surface. Bait with Chicken scratch in the center. Stay away all day. Check at dusk. Then to the tank they go. They have damaged our barns & foundations.
I built one of these. Works like a charm. I let the tree squirrels go. They keep the yard free of crickets and other bugs and I like watching them play with the birds. The ground squirrels however, they go back in the ground, just differently than they came out.
It is a great trap! I got the one with the basin. I’ve taken care of over 50 Easter Tree squirrels within a few weeks. Damage to our Pacific Northwest yard and garden has virtually stopped.
I bought one to go up against Eastern tree squirrels. No luck. Kept trying and trying. I figured it might be good for western ground squirrels, but not so much for tree squirrels. Then had an infestation of chipmunks, did over $1000 damage under the hood of 2 vehicles. Bought a smaller chipmunkinator from Tractor Supply, and it works like a charm. We've "retired" over 18 chipmunks from the area in a couple of months. Yesterday I checked the chipmunkinator, and a grey squirrel had squirmed through the trap door and gobbled up the bird seed bait. He just about filled up the entire inside of the trap. Man, he was like the energizer bunny, jumpin' around to get out. I guess it DOES work, after all. I'll set both of 'em out now, and hope for the best. There's a little red squirrel now that's driving us crazy.
I wished this worked for us. We only caught one. The other squirrels realized the first squirrel was trapped (as did he). So they would come up to the trap but NOT go in. The trapped squirrel seemed to communicate with them: Don't do it! Maybe we have gifted squirrels?

Red squirrels are the main problem in my area. They raided a Mourning Dove nest and destroyed it. The little buggers get into my house and use my winter parka and boots to store the seeds they collect. They use my knit caps for a nest. No sympathy for Red squirrels here.
If they got loose in your truck that would be interesting
What bait are you putting in trap
This year June 2024 I've got 50 in 2 weeks
Не причиняйте им боли
❤
what bait do you use?
I use hen scratch; it's a mix of corn, millet, oats, barley, etc. Other people I know use cheap dog food.

I hate squirrels!
Отпустите пожайлуста белок ведь они детки имеют право на жизнь
You are a really good person. Very unique to feel for the innocent victims since the video game children Era. Thank You
Squirrels killing chickens? I've raised chickens around squirrels 57 years and never had that happen. Just sayin..
YOu didnt even say what kind of bait.
I use hen scratch.
Put lava on them
?????
Those poor little guys I feel so sorry for them I'm completely disgusted in what you do I just hope you the common decency to release them else where do that can live.
you must be a city kid
Spoken as someone who has never had to deal with the damage caused by an infestation.
His nickname is " The bird murderer " so what do you think he does with them ?
Squirrels are as smart as cats, too bad they’re treated so poorly.
Smarter. I have both. I can train the squirrels, but not the cats.
Cats are not very smart, at least not feral ones. Last year I caught a dozen using tuna in a Duke's live trap. I did TNR on the whole lot.
If they are so smart then why do they keep getting caught in traps ?
@@mrwdpkr5851 I said they were smart like cats, cats get caught in traps too, that doesn’t mean cats aren’t smart…🤨
"Permaculture" = "traps and kills squirrels" my ass
Why are you even catching them? They plant seeds for trees, aerate the soil and are beneficial to the ecology of an area. Similar to what you’re trying to do growing and planting native species.
And dig holes in your yard, did up your plants, and eat your plants!

@@kennethsmith8844 Chew up your bird houses and feeders, eat your garden crop, chew up your structures and pray you don't get them in your attic or garage. Screw these tree rats.
@@bobbyrizzo2075 Democrat= Numbskull bleeding heart bozo.
Why the hell are you trapping squirrels?
No cool🤬.
Gilmore McStupid.
Lost all my peaches I worked hard to grow and nearly all my plums. THOSE ARE FOR ME. DUMBASS. If they leave my crops alone, I leave them alone. Don't come to my house looking for free food, we have a shotgun waiting and a trap waiting.
I have young fruit trees and they ate all my cherries, all my peaches, all my pears, all my grapes, all my young trellised melons and cantaloupe. They even remove the net "socks" I carefully covered the fruit with. I hate their guts. Hours and hours of work and money, gone. The trap catches them but then they open the spring door with their knarly yellow teeth and get out.
@@damienracataian1830 Time to switch to a pellet pew pew.
@@damienracataian1830 ditto, spend money and time growing fruit and the squirrels take literally one bit of an apple and drop it to the ground. Then we left for a weekend and they cleared out our entire plum tree. Not one was left.
