- Join me on a journey to my local river, the River Wandle, which winds through the heart of southeast London. In this episode, I shed light on the pressing issues of river pollution and the critical importance of conservation. Dive into "Trout and Tribulations" with me! Together, we can make a significant impact in the fight for cleaner, healthier rivers.
Lovely video from a lovely lady thanks for the time and effort of the upload
Thank you for a wonderfully informative film Amie. The Wandle is my local river and has provided me with many hours of pleasure since 1983 when I caught my first trout by accident fishing for Chub. I didn't know back then they were partial to bread! Since then the river has furnished me with Trout, Chub, Barbel, Carp, Roach, and even the occasional Eel. It is good to see that work has and still is being carried out to improve the health of our wonderful local river.
What a breath of fresh air! Funny and informative. Excellent fishing skills
Yo the audio track is so legit! Love the visuals and edits. Informative with good humor!
Great video,
Keep pushing that message, you never know, one day, the water companies will be held to account.
Wonderful flatulent delivery to end it on👌🏻😁
This's gotta be your best yet, Amie. Loved the bit of history and context in the beginning/throughout. Handy for somebody on the other side of the world.
The best video I’ve seen showing our local river. Brilliant job with highlighting the conservation work too, Amie 👏🏻. Always look forward to your entertaining and beautifully filmed vlogs.
Thanks so much 😊
Why is it still allowed to be so badly polluted...? 😭
Maybe my favorite flytying instruction ever.
This totally made my morning and really gives me inspiration for future conservation efforts of my own
You're a true inspiration
Brilliant video as always
😆 and what a trout. Great seeing the conservation side of what is going on on your local river well done to all those involved 👍
Very handsome brown trout. Amazing how adaptable and resilient trout really are. Wonderful fish.
Brilliant! You should be on the telly.
Award winning video.. love it.
Amie you are a breath of fresh air - well except for the end bit x
Your clearly fun personality comes right through the screen on your videos - really great content mate
So happy you are back. ❤
Well done Amie! A true conservationist!
Your personality is refreshing from the normal stuck up fly fishermen/women I tend to see lately! (:
Lovely video. What a gorgeous first fish, a good size and very well landed. I've fished for trout for over 60 years, mostly in Highland Scotland, Wales, Shropshire and Herefordshire. Recently, I'm receiving the distinct impression brown trout are growing larger and thriving in urban rivers better than rural rivers. Think on the Wye and chicken farms, whilst more time and investment is going into improving urban than preserving rural environments because that's where most voters are. Whatever, I'd love to have a day on the Wandle with traditional nymphs, emergers and dries. London, however, is more alien to me than the rivers of Assynt, Angus and Gwynedd. Is there a local guide to the different beats? BTW... Do remember that the UK record salmon (+64lbs) was caught in 1922 by a woman, Georgina Ballantine. Perhaps they've always been a bit less inclined to sexism in fly-fishing circles in Perthshire than in London. The Picts (the traditional inhabitants of north eastern Scotland) were, according to Bede, very much a matrilineal society.
That was fun! Love the tying tutorial. hahaha...Greetings from Canada.
philomena cunk vibes and a new ringtone. "brown trooout". thanks
Thanks as always great work
The tying bit was first class 😂
yeah its technical and I don't expect everyone to understand but I tried my best to (for lack of a better word) dumb it down.
Great video Amy 👍
Wonderful, 🐟what a lovely fish, as you say so buttery great to see you back👍👍Splendid, History section, Loved the fly too😂🙂
Brilliant to see you bk on my screen love your content as you do t take yourself to serious and that's what life about just enjoying your hobby

I don't fly fish, I have no idea what's going on but I'm here. I'm ready. I'm loving it. KEEP IT UP LASS❤
You are the best ever. I love you and your videos. Ron/Sweden
Great video. Love the Wandle fished it in the 90's. 🐟
Really nice to meet you today on your morning walk. Didn’t know the river had such history
It was a pleasure to meet you.
This is one of the best fly-fishing videos I've ever seen.
Great video of a stunning little river👏
Great stuff, particularly the fly tying part which gave me a good laugh…oh and the Brown Trout song. Your style reminds me of one of the anglers from Screaming Reels on C4 many years ago. Keep it up.
I don't know why I haven't come across your videos before but this is awesome ....nice bit of education and some laughs :) ........"just wrap that around, then wrap this around" .....well funny, I'm off to watch some more !
Wonderful video - been taken on the Wandle for a couple of coarse sessions by a mate and was stunned by the quality and variety of fish in there. Now I’m in my first season of fly fishing I’m due to have a session next week having been on other cracking little rivers like the Len, Darent and Cray. They are waters many would walk past and ignore but more fool them.
Nice to see other countries interested in conservation of the fishing waterways! Where I live in New York, some streams are much cleaner than even 40 years before, healthier fish populations
Great video 😀
Excellent video it's vitally important we look after our water ways and the life within them, as well as polution
Good to see you back !!
Just found this channel a lot of work went into this and you dont take it mega seriously😂

What a fantastic video, urban trouting at it's best. Thanks for sharing Amie
Great vid. Lovely casting technique.
Great Video, I was blown away by how beautiful this River is around Hackbridge…
this is the first video of yours I've watched and its giving crazy teacher vibes but a load of fun 😂
What a fantastic upload, a breath of fresh air, well I say fresh air but maybe a fart or two 😂. The AT will definitely benefit having you onboard. Loved the dressing up as a man 😂😂. Hopefully in the next 5yrs we all de a great change in our waterways
I don’t imagine I’m very well liked at the AT lol I declined Ambassadorship for various reasons lack of time being the main one, I basically said if you want anything from me pay me because I had no time to dilly dally back then to benefit others tokenism but, now times moved on and I’ve seen a change from the AT (they acknowledge pride month on there website and other important cultural events) that wasn’t there before I would consider it.
@@amieflyfish2577 fair play, you can’t please everyone matey but for those you do it’s worth it I’m sure. Keep being you 👍

Great stuff Amie, excellent info and wonderfully presented. The song and sketch are brilliant. Cheers and tight lines
The fish song was epic haha
You have a great channel, found it through Instagram. The short form content is gold! Hopefully the algorithm boosts your channel and people around the world get to enjoy the fishing and the humor while getting some education and motivation to help with some ecological conservation.
Amazing work, thank you for sharing
Well done on landing that big brown, definitely a pro move. Hopefully the river improves.
Brilliant production. There’s a certain connection with your urban waterways that survive against all odds.
Love your videos, keep on filming, how your not on TV with your own show is a mystery, that's a beautiful brownie by the way 👍🏻 what was your set up? Rod ,reel, line, tippet, fly?
I got a Redington classic trout rod 8ft 4wt and 3lb tippet.
Just found your channel one of the most unique UA-cam channels out there. Cheers
What a cool video, thanks so much. Really enjoyed it. Love the background info and conservation efforts about the river; and the fly-tying demo was awesome. First catch was amazing too. Wow! Right on, cheers to you from Southern California
That song!!! Banger.
Enjoyed that!
Spent a wonderful day walking the length of the Wandle with the late great Will Tall some years ago. It’s a magical little river with a lot of surprises x
Will was one of the original wandle piscators, made a big difference to the wandle.
Brilliant on many counts. Information with hilarity is the future. Luv it !!
Very good video 👏🏻🎣
Beautiful fish, excellent video.
❤❤❤❤
Now that Amie is good for the soul.A refeshing change..well done.

🇧🇦 ❤🇬🇧
Fantastic video i love the River Wandle probably because it's name was originally the Vandal so it holds a special place in my heart
Brilliant! Love the focus on how we all should do our part to help bringing these waters back to good condition- even by simply picking up litter when we are out there.
Btw. I see we use similar techniques tying flies- lots of wrapping round.
Cheers from Denmark.
Fly tying instructions were best ever.
Thanks, Amie, informative and refreshingly entertaining video. Reminds me of a program in the late 80s called "screaming reels" channel 4. Nice casting action and a natural presenter to boot.😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just came across this video by random! Absolutely loved it! I need to tie that fly.. If I got the steps right... it's.. Wrap Round, Wrap Round, Wrap Round, Whip Finish, Wrap Round, Whip Finish.. Easy enough fly to tie. Subscribed.
Absolutely great video !!! ****
Thank you very much for sharing😅
this was great ! very well done and it was good that you went into the conservation side as well as fly tying and all under 16min new sub
It is beyond me why you do not have 8 Billion subscribers ❤
Ok maybe just 1 million - just arrived at the ending - bad social credit score
I don’t ask to like share an subscribe lol
@@amieflyfish2577 no need. Sykes and pikes is also very fun to watch
Excellent educational video Amy, funny but also serious on the conservation of our beautiful rivers. What outfit were you using & when is the soundtrack being released 🤣 Always enjoy your videos absolute quality! 👌 Tight lines 🎣 Beautiful brown trout
Reddington classic trout rod 8ft 4 wt , for me , there's too much action on it so I might change it. but it's a good rod
Fantastic 😊
Nice little trout song Amie! Love your video!
Great video as usual! Thanks for posting!
Love your video. You are so creative. I've fished the Wandle for 10+ years and it is an amazing river. I'm very busy and don't have much time to go fishing but each time I go there it feels special.
