I was 19 when this song came out. It didn’t get much airplay on radio stations near me but was a staple at every frat/underground/dance club party in the city, as were soooo many other amazing songs that were better than what was being played on radio back then ( looking at you Modern Talking💋 💋 💋). In 1984 I even remember as a 17 yr old thinking that this was the greatest year/era for music in history and that I was so incredibly lucky to be alive at that time…and also be the perfect age to enjoy it. I still think that ❤️. It was the heyday of the music video/MTV/VH1 and seeing artists perform with incredible creativity and visual style while also being bona fide musicians, talented singers, and gifted songwriters, created a revolution among us young people. We adopted their looks - hairstyles, make-up, clothes, attitudes - and were inspired by their lyrics to learn music and to play or sing in a band. Songs were all about either love, desire or hope and most everything carried a positive message. You could get lost in time dancing the night away as a goth or a Valley girl and still enjoy every song on the playlist. Soooo much talent squeezed into just a few short years. I don’t think it will ever happen again in my lifetime.

I am from Southamerica where we speak spanish, and even if I don't know what the song means, just the rhythm and the beautiful words in French makes me just LOVE the song. In fact, I have homework about this, picking a french song, and I honestly just picked this one the second I started hearing it. This made me understand how beautiful is the French language when spoken and sang. An absolute classic, yet as good as I suppose it was before, since I was probably not alive once it was released.

Li mia sorella ed io conoscemmo subito amiche ed amici, che si fecero vivi sl nostro arrivo. Ricordo, anche alle note di questo brano intramontabile, le vocine delle due meravigliose bambine, vicine di casa, amiche di mia sorella, riempire l'etere e risuonar nel silenzio. Released when I was 13 years old and I first heard it on a school day trip to France...loved it ever since! Such a catchy slice of Euro pop...🎉
I was 19 when this song came out. It didn’t get much airplay on radio stations near me but was a staple at every frat/underground/dance club party in the city, as were soooo many other amazing songs that were better than what was being played on radio back then ( looking at you Modern Talking💋 💋 💋).
In 1984 I even remember as a 17 yr old thinking that this was the greatest year/era for music in history and that I was so incredibly lucky to be alive at that time…and also be the perfect age to enjoy it.
I still think that ❤️.
It was the heyday of the music video/MTV/VH1 and seeing artists perform with incredible creativity and visual style while also being bona fide musicians, talented singers, and gifted songwriters, created a revolution among us young people. We adopted their looks - hairstyles, make-up, clothes, attitudes - and were inspired by their lyrics to learn music and to play or sing in a band. Songs were all about either love, desire or hope and most everything carried a positive message. You could get lost in time dancing the night away as a goth or a Valley girl and still enjoy every song on the playlist. Soooo much talent squeezed into just a few short years. I don’t think it will ever happen again in my lifetime.

I am from Southamerica where we speak spanish, and even if I don't know what the song means, just the rhythm and the beautiful words in French makes me just LOVE the song.
