    I just found and subscribed over the weekend. I've watched most of your videos and really enjoy them. I've got a 60 year old wooden hoop net hanging at my old log house. They used to catch several fish in the rivers here in east Tennessee before otters moved in on them.

      The first hoop net I ever had was a 2 in mesh wooden hoop net my uncle give me. That thing was the flathead catching eat net I've ever seen. Not sure why, but I tore them up in it. Wish looking back, I'd retired it and put it up for show

    Bradley: good video on your net maintenance. Thanks for including your method of tying the net repair. I'm gonna try that to fix some holes in my wire net traps. Will be waiting on your next video with full nets and the smell of hot grease! Thanks Roy

      For just some minor repair, you can just get some #18 or whatever size twine at your local bait store, net needles you can find online or at one of the net companies. If your not gonna redip your nets you can use the tared twine

    No skimpy drawers needed just good how to information is all you need.
    Do a video on how to build wire nets.

      I'll have to consider that on wire nets, but I'm afraid a slat trap build is in store in near future😉

    Dope em up man gettem ready. Spring will be here before you know it. I use the old keg tar and melt it with gas but your method is a lot easier I see.

    I'm curious when you use to comercial fish did you sell to fish markets or restaurants or in other words who buys them? We use to have a few fish markets here back many years ago...I was curious as to what options there were on selling catfish ..I really wondered if a person could fillet them and sell to the general public...I thought it might be a way to sell some meat at a cheaper price that could help people out in a time of high grocery bills gas and heating bills ....

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  2 роки тому

      I sold to individuals. Louisiana made it harder to do so by forcing commercial fisherman to buy a whole sale retail license and start having to turn in trip tickets. That's when it got to be too much Hassel for me, so I just started fishing for myself

      Thanks for responding ...Your Uncle must have pasted on a good vibe with that ole net ....Do you guys mess with mudmotors down there? I raced karts for years and can get some awesome horsepower out of those little motors....I've been wanting to build my own surface drive I don't think it's that hard ...I have a small lathe and think I could build one but I've been really focused on this fishing it's something I really want to do....I keep telling my wife looks like there would be money in selling skipjack and shad ...What part of the country you guys in? I sent a message earlier but don't know if it went threw .Keep those videos coming I'm gaining knowledge ....wish it were I could ask a million questions lol

      We're in North Louisiana. Seams all the younger guys run mud motors. I personally hate them. Their very loud, and run a lot of waterfowl off public lands. They have made hunting in our area very tough. I firmly think that public waters should restrict their access more in certain areas of North Louisiana

    What twine do you use?

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  2 роки тому

      Most of the mesh in our nets are #18 twine. Most are seen in with #18 also, but I like to go up one size sewing them in the hoops when fishing heavy currents like the Ouachita River. Hope this helps!!

    Why do you have to dip the nets ?

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  3 роки тому +1

      We dip the nets to treat the thread. It helps to seal in the thread knots once the new nets are made. Also It's Nylon and it will rot, deteriorate, and also receive a lot of wear from the nets rolling around in the current. The tar in the net dip helps protect against all of that
