      What kind of antivol are you going to use? I'll opt for a U xplus 540 15hb300 and a Bordo 6500A/110 SH Smart X from abuse. For the back, I hesitate to put on bags or a safe. What are you gonna put on?I also intend to draw gps, but I don't know which model. Please help me 🙏

      @@cardingue I did not get this one, but I did get the R&M Load 60. For anti-theft, I went with an ABUS Bordo 6000 folding alarm lock + the cafe lock with its ABUS chain that attaches to it. At home, I use that configuration in addition to a Kryptonite chain. For the rear rack, I am using a Vincita rack bag that I use on my other bikes as well. It has a UniKlip lock system (not super secure but good enough for quick stops or in safer areas)

    Yippee! Waiting for this vid since Sept 2020. It doesn’t disappoint. Wins the Bike Internet this weekend.
    Crisp and colourful camera work.
    Crisp and colourful reviewing (I like that you do it for novice and know-it-all alike). Chris, you’re obviously “tickled pink” by this bike - me too.
    What an awesome design. Layer upon layer of functional ideas, blended into beautiful lines and details:
    Cable steering - a real game changer.
    Purion - sensible simplicity.
    Child cover - functionality beyond your wildest dreams.
    It’s THE family bike and outstanding as a commercial workhorse. And there’s still stuff we haven’t seen yet (just place holders on R&M web).
    Active transport design of the decade. Your video truly does the P70 justice.
    Namaste 🙏
    One more thing! (Oh if only Jobsy was still with us). 😔
    P70 design and functionality is way ahead of anything the World Auto Industry doing right now (just distracting gizmos and bling from them - pathetic).

    Another great review by Chris, thanks for that. I currently have an Urban Arrow (I live in Belgium and they are the most common here). Before I bought the Urban Arrow I did many testdrives also with the R&M Load but with all their bikes I had an Internal struggle: the R&M drove more fun for dad but was not the ideal seating for the kids. As the bike would most of the time be used for commuting with the kids we gave priority to their comfort and bought the Urban Arrow. But this is now a game changer for me.
    On the urban arrow I'm missing a suspension in the front and the turning Ange is a nightmare (you should see me try to turn the monster in heavy traffic :-))
    comfort, dual battery (very cool integrated...)
    to bad that it's not full suspension like the load, that combination would be my ultimate dream as some of my commuting route could be more fun with an "off road" shortcut.
    anyway, again very nice job by R&M and top review by Chris!!!

    Really torn between the Packster 70 vs the Load 60 vs the Tern GSD. I love the design of the Packster 70. I think I got my Stromer ST1 for a similar reason. It just looks sexy and I think the Packster has a wonderful design. I just like that that can stand on its end, which means you could easily store them in a shed. My Stromer is a beast to store because of its weight... either way... all amazon bikes. Really wish we saw more people adopting cycling in US life.

    I think too many reviews about cargobikes and ebikes do just list the things the bike has. Yes I can read from the brochure that it has enviolo hub, belt drive and bosch motor. What is missing is what's it like to use? Is the cargo area easy to load? How it handles? etc. You know what a user experiences. Now the reviews are all kind of the same. Maybe you should even do some kind of an errand with the bike? GCN made a video about a cargobike were they collected past date food and brought it to a charity organization.

    The riese and muller line is lovely, with a price tag. I think it would make an excellent car replacement. Unfortunately, I feel that bike infrastructure and safe parking like you mentioned in a previous video is really a huge factor in considering an e-bike over other modes of transport. Rear cargo will be safer for passengers, but for actual cargo, a front load probably works better. I'm still on the fence about investing in an e-bike as a car replacement.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  3 роки тому +9

      I do feel like this parking thing is a major issue that needs to fully unlock the power of these bikes. I don't know if I agree that rear would be safer for passengers. Both have their merits. If the box has a frame you'd be surprised how well it protects, even in a collision.

      Never used a cargo bike (only convential Dutch city bicycles), though I can imagine having to get used to the way steering works with a front loader, being that the handlebar and front wheel are not above eachother like a normal bicycle.

    I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere... My local ebike shop has the old model of this, the Packster 80 available and at a decent discount. The only hang up I have is that small chainring on the Generation 2 motor with the gearbox to make it 2.5 turns for every rotation of the pedals. This seems like you'd lose a lot of efficiency and that it would be much harder to pedal with the assist turned off. Anyone have any comparison experience to tell me? Is the efficiency loss significant? Why would they have designed the motor like that in the first place? I've been kind of set on the newer large chain ring version...but the only one available in my area is a fully loaded Load 75....for $13,000! It's 5,000 dollars more expensive than the old model Packster 80. edit: And I don't want to wait 9 months for a brand new order.

    Very descriptive video as usual. I was quite surprised about this bike being larger on the overall capacity than the packster 80, even if the bed its 10 centimetres shorter. I'm a little confused is the back wheel a 26 x 2.4 or like the old packster 27.50 x2.4 ? The information you provided it's different from the bike specifications on the website. Looking to get the touring version in a few weeks

    Interesting to see that they use two different types of tires. The rear tire has a higher indicated maximum load capacity to the one in front, but why not use the same higher rated tire front and back? I guess that's because the Super Moto-X in 20" is too wide for the front? I see that two years on, they still offer this combination, while they could just go for the Schwalbe Pick-Up.. or perhaps that doesn't quite compare as favorably to the Moto-X?

      The Bosch motors and batteries are the best, and continuing to improve.
      The older versions are still available, and Bosch supports the customer, still having many older stock available. I’m under the impression you’ll have no problem ten years down the line with finding replacement parts etc.
      It is worth having the bicycle serviced at least once a year (depending on your mileage) with a qualified shop. They’ll also update any new firmware from Bosch at the same time.

      @orakaa Рік тому

      @@denverspin The motor was fine. From what I understood the problem lied with the steering (via cable transmission). It's the same system as on the "Douze cycles" cargo bikes: the front wheel is connected to the handles via a system of cables, instead of a "stick". It gives you WAY more control when you steer (I tried a Douze cycles cargo bike and it's really awesome).
      It was the first time R&M tried to implement that kind of steering in one of their bikes and they realized afterwards had a small percentage of issues with it.

    I'll never understand the need for super bright bicycle lights in an urban environment. All they do is irritate opposing traffic on the bike trail or lane. Their main purpose should be to make the bicyclist visible via low level light, not needlessly annoy other bicyclists with high beams on a path that's already lit with urban street lighting.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  3 роки тому +4

      Quality light set up properly should not irritate opposing traffic. I’m just the same way cars headlights generally don’t either due to the cut off on the top of the light beam. Many cheaper lights don’t control the throw the light and they can be really annoying.
      One thing to consider is with eBikes many people might break out of the confines of their urban environment and many places are not so well lit. We did a video with Catrin from Riese & Muller and part of her commute to work at R&M is through a forest and this sort of light is ideal for this.

    Riese Muller just took the Packster off market. A well designed bicycle which never left the prototype stage and turned out to be total crap in customer hands: Still, stopp, too dangerous to move! No substitute of course, no alternative offer. Instead of confessing how they annoyed customers, they give you money back and call it generous. How do I get my Kids to Kindergarten now? No bikes are available Not Even yours, numbnuts? I sold the car based on a 10.000 USD promise! This is something to remember, folks!

    Why would you continue to leave this review live on UA-cam when these have all been recalled and have been eliminated from their product line due to a bad steering design? Doesn’t seem ethical IMO to leave it up. Someone who failed to return their unit and then re-sold it and the new owner put their children in it after watching your review!!! I have unsubscribed from your channel. Buhbye

    "easily sustain" 23mph on a cargo bike in casual clothes. I doubt it.
    Doing some rough physics:
    you probably have a cda (air drag) of .45 to .6+. (road bike + road bike cloths on the tops is about .35 or so. we can assume this giant brick of a bike, non aero clothes, and upright position further increase drag).
    Lets assume you have exceptionally good rolling resistance tires for a cargo bike crr= .006
    Lets assume you and the bike weigh 220lbs combined
    Super efficient drive train with only 2% power loss
    This comes out to about 400 watts to sustain. 400watts is what a typical world class professional level cyclist can maintain for about an hour or so. Even then those individuals would consider 400 watts to not remotely be "easy to sustain". It would be more akin to "quite difficult" or "pushing hard on the pedals". A person of your fitness could probably do 400 watts for no more than 1-2 minutes at a maximal effort.

      Lol. You won’t be as cool without it though. On a serious note though, this bike is built to push the limits of what is possible by bike. There are plenty of options out there that are less expensive, but if you want to replace your car and you have a kids this a damn good option.

    You can remove this video: Packster 70 has been removed from R&M catalog; all bikes already sold are called back.

      That’s a fair point. I have to consider how I want to handle that

    Is there a specific bike rack that works well to transport front cargo bikes?

    Love it but is so expensive even compared to an urban arrow. Really eat though

      A comparable spec'd Urban Arrow is pretty similar in price.

    How would you rate the ride comfort compared to the Load 75? As well as the steering feel and action at higher speeds? Thanks!

      This bike is really fantastic, but nothing really compares to full suspension for high speed handling.
