    Dude, if you're still in Penang, you should definitely try 青皮15 and capri. Both are heavily flavoured with hints of whiskey. That black thorn you had probably came from a young tree, that's why it ain't good enough.

    Just by looking at the Black Thorn flesh u ate i knew it wasnt good. The reasons:
    1) BT u had came from premature tree. Good durian is like a fine wine. It gets better when the tree is mature and tastes best when it reaches golden age.
    2) If that BT u had was sourced from a farm within the island, then it most probably came from a young tree. Golden age BT trees exist only at mainland side of Penang, specifically in Jawi.. about an hour drive from the island.
    3) Producing high quality durian requires deep knowledge, skills, discipline and experience in the field. Golden age tree alone wont guarantee that it'll produce quality fruits if a grower/farmer in charge lacks the characteristics mentioned earlier.
    4) Sadly the quality of Malaysian durian is slowly degrading due to the mass production of fruits across the country. U wont be able to produce high quality durian if u prioritize on quantity rather than quality.
    5) Synthetic and chemical fertilizers are heavily used to force trees to produce as many fruits as they can, thus compromising quality and our health.
    6) Modern farming system practised by these commercial farms to maximize production is slowly destroying Malaysian durian's quality and reputation. If you are working against the nature rather than with the nature, then u'll eventually lose at the end.
